Santa Luzia is a lovely little place, and Maria's apartment is right in the center. We missed the summer crowds as we were there in October, and it was very peaceful and enjoyable. Sylvia met us at the bus station, showed us all over Tavira and Santa Luzia, and even took us back to the station for departures. She also gave us a tour of the apartment, and explained where everything was, etc, in this beachhouse full of character near the water. Great rooftop patio also.
A casa e muito bem localizada e oferece boa estrutura de acomodacao.
We liked Maria's house very much. The location in the old part of the village is very nice. But the best thing probably is the roof top terras which we used a lot for breakfast and evening drinks.
If you are looking for a taste of the tranquil village life of sunny Portugal, then you have found the right (website hidden). Luzia has a boulevard with various restaurants and bars, a village square with a local coffee-bar and several small grocery shops in the cobbled stone streets. All within very short walking distance of Maria's house! Her house is spacious, yet has a very cosy feeling. It has a bathroom with bathtub, a decently equipped kitchen, a huge rooftop terrace with lots of sunshine and a small (shady) patio with outside BBQ. There is a washing machine in the house and there are bicycles available, which can for example be used to cycle to the beautiful town of Tavira (about 15 minutes on a bicycle lane) with many historic sites, a big food market and a lovely city centre. We stayed in Maria's house with our two young children (1,5 and 3 years old) and felt very much like it was made for us. Definitely a child friendly place. We are very certain that anyone, with or without children, will feel very much at home here!
Santa Luzia is a wonderful small fishermen's village and we had a great time there eating octopus and wondering around.
The house is an old traditional house, all one level, pretty spacious but a little funky and old. Do not expect a very comfortable and cozy place, but rather enjoy the old-fashion and authentic style of the house. You will have lot's of fun wondering in Santa Lucia and around, wheather you like birdwatiching, beaches, or great Portugese food!
We are a family of 4 people (2Kids, 2 years and 9 yearsof age) and Maria has been a really good host to all of us. She made sure we would have everything we need as well as she has given some interesting tips where to take the kids. The charming houses is really big and provided EVERYTHING we needed. Towels, Bikes (we didn´t use them cause it was to hot but even our 9 year old could have taken one), Body boards wich our kids loved and was really grateful to have. We had some great barbecues in the backyard since Maria provided a nice barbecue. We could walk to the ferry (which took us to the beach), to the minimercado to get bread in the morning and to the restaurants in the evening. No need for a car necessarily.
something else: Our son forgot his favourite watch in the house but we have not discovered the loss till we got home. Maria and here assistant were so helpful and even have found his watch. Now there are going to mail it to us. Guys, this is a really special host. It was a really good stay in st. Luzia and the old charming fisherman house. Would recommend it to everyone- Family or a group of friends - Thanks Maria see you again.
