Lovely room overlooking the world famous Portobello Road. The Friday and Saturday markets run right past out door.
This is the family home of an artist on the famous Portobello Road and market. The road is very busy on Saturdays, but peaceful the rest of the week. (Except during the Notting Hill Carnival which is at the end of August).
I would describe my home as "shabby chic" rather than super smart, and typical of the old style of Portobello houses. It is clean, light, airy artistic and comfortable . The room has a very comfortable double bed; the price for one person is £40, and £60 for 2 people. There is a little roof terrace garden with table and chairs, which is lovely to sit out on, on warm summer night! The apartment has wifi throughout. Please note that I have 2 lovely cats!
Portobello Road is a wonderful and friendly area, full of cafes and bars. There is always interesting shopping and browsing in the market and surrounding shops. The market takes place every weekend, and you can browse the amazing antiques stalls, or maybe pick up an vintage bargain. There are also loads of amazing food stalls, selling cuisine from every corner of the world! During the week the street is a quieter, as the market stalls have gone, however the are is still charming and packed with things to do. Notting Hill is packed with one off coffee shops, and restaurants, boutique stores, and antique shops.
It is just a short walk from the apartment to Hyde Park. Points of interest in the park include Speakers Corner and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial. The park also plays host to many festivals and concerts during the summer months.
The area also benefits from great transportation links. The house is just steps from Ladbroke Grove tube station, which gives you access to the Circle Line and Hammersmith and City Line. Lots of buses into the west end or east end.

I felt like a little English princess in this room- it was cozy, clean and cute! Definitely try to go during the weekend so you can enjoy the portobello market! Julie and her flat mate Noel were very nice- Julie even gave me a free pass to a Paul Klee exhibit at the Tate Modern- thanks Julie! Really enjoyed my first visit to London
A friendly home in a very nice location. A nicely decorated room with character. Julie is a very kind host and I will gladly come back to this place on my next London visit.
Julie was a supergood host, very patient with my late arrival. Cozy and clean room with good internet connection. Thanks for the pleasant stay!
Julie was a very relaxed and easy-going hostess. Portobello Road can of course be noisy, but Sunday mornings are fine - I slept in till 10am! The house was conveniently located near to the Tube station, my room was comfortable and I enjoyed my stay.
I feld unwelcome as a quest. Hardly slept because of unknown persons (who lived there?) and party in the house. Very thin wall and a lot of noise of the highway. Window does not close.
Had to share the wc and bathroom with too many people.
Julie is a great hostess and was really friendly. Her place has a great location, close to the tube station (Circle Line) and was everything I needed. If you're a serious germaphobe, it may not suit you since she has a crowded space with lots of lovely art mixed with cats and books. But otherwise, it was really great.
Space was as advertised. Room was clean and cozy. Good restaurants nearby and Julie was easy to reach, flexible on arranging for me to get keys/leave luggage, and helpful with local knowledge.
Only hesitation that I'd have about staying @ Julie's again is her cats. Julie's were friendly and not at all annoying, but I realize that during short-term stays, my personal preference is not to have them around.
