About this listing
Lovely room overlooking the world famous Portobello Road. The Friday and Saturday markets run right past out door.
This is the family home of an artist on the famous Portobello Road and market. The road is very busy on Saturdays, but peaceful the rest of the week. (Except during the Notting Hill Carnival which is at the end of August).
I would describe my home as "shabby chic" rather than super smart, and typical of the old style of Portobello houses. It is clean, light, airy artistic and comfortable . The room has a very comfortable double bed; the price for one person is £40, and £60 for 2 people. There is a little roof terrace garden with table and chairs, which is lovely to sit out on, on warm summer night! The apartment has wifi throughout. Please note that I have 2 lovely cats!
Portobello Road is a wonderful and friendly area, full of cafes and bars. There is always interesting shopping and browsing in the market and surrounding shops. The market takes place every weekend, and you can browse the amazing antiques stalls, or maybe pick up an vintage bargain. There are also loads of amazing food stalls, selling cuisine from every corner of the world! During the week the street is a quieter, as the market stalls have gone, however the are is still charming and packed with things to do. Notting Hill is packed with one off coffee shops, and restaurants, boutique stores, and antique shops.
It is just a short walk from the apartment to Hyde Park. Points of interest in the park include Speakers Corner and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial. The park also plays host to many festivals and concerts during the summer months.
The area also benefits from great transportation links. The house is just steps from Ladbroke Grove tube station, which gives you access to the Circle Line and Hammersmith and City Line. Lots of buses into the west end or east end.
No smoking in house, but there is a roof terrace with table and chairs for those who may want to pop out for a cigarette !
It is a relaxed household, but no additional guests allowed. Portobello Road has many wonderful cafes and bars for meeting friends in though.

Julie was a very kind and helpful host, making me feel at home and attentive on any requests I may make. Always with a smile on her face. the room was clean and spacious and there was zero noise from the street.

The location was great, Portobello road is very alive, the nearest tube station was Ladbroke Grove (Hammersmith and City line) and was 7 minutes walking from her house. The room was tasteful decorated, on the fourth floor. There wasn't any time for me when I arrived because she was busy with her work. Only before I left there was some time for a chat. There were several others in the house who rented rooms and partially lived there. It wasn't a very organised household. It felt like a students dorm. But use of everything was possible. The picture is not the way the house looks now from the outside. If you look for this picture you won't find it!

Julie's place is superb in both location and cleanliness. it's on the ladbroke station which is two station away from Paddington (connect with Heathrow Express). It is a perfect place for single or couple travellers who want to enjoy the most of local feeling right in the middle of Portobello Market Street. As the room is spectacular, Julie is also most helpful for me in my first time in London and using airbnb.com. Really appreciate staying here ^^
Julie was a wonderful host and the room in the apartment was lovely. Her apartment is covered in quaint art and books and I loved the aesthetics. The location is incredible, perfect for my first time in London. Right in the center of Notting Hill, and a short walk to Kensington food and the metro. Highly recommend!
