My work: Farmer, Airbnb host
With my wife Melissa and daughters Sarah and Jessica we are the fourth generation of Mairs to live on Quamby Farm and so we feel a very close connection to this land. My grandfather ran sheep, cattle and some market gardens here and both my father and I attended the local primary school here. After time away for education, expeditions, armed service and a range of outdoor education and conservation jobs we have returned to develop the land along permaculture and organic principles. So far we have planted 30,000 trees, owner built our cool passive solar, environmental house and established a 5 megalitre wetland brimming with life. We are working towards self-sufficiency in food and energy while taking the occasional time out for an adventurous hike. Finally, we love sharing "our" mountains with family and guests so why don't you come up and enjoy this place too?
