The apartment is three short blocks away from the train and as one the first guests well put: “... [it's] a perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle but is still close enough to be right in with the action.”

I'm Boris and I am a personal chef. I will gladly help you become acclimated to New York and show you how to get around, but of course I respect your personal space and will simply follow your initiatives.

Welcome once again!

P.S.: Let's not forget the second member of the family: Xuxa! She is a beautiful, curious and friendly cat that likes just about everybody. Yes, you can play with her, and no, you cannot keep her!

  • We stayed with Boris for one week and were very satisfied with our choice. Getting in touch with Boris and organising the check-in was easy, he is realiable and flexible. The room is rather small but as we only came back to sleep, that was fine with us. Having our own bathroom on the second floor was a big plus. The neighbourhood is very interesting, beautiful brownstone houses just a few blocks away, a few nice cafés and an excellent wine bar with live music on Tompkins Avenue, a community garden just across the street, an amazing open-air party a few blocks down in the park. We actually spent more time in Brooklyn than Manhattan because there is so much to see.

  • Hemos pasado siete días en el apartamento de Boris y repetiríamos la experiencia sin dudarlo. Aunque hemos coincidido poco con él, es un anfitrión muy agradable

  • We had a great stay at Boris.
The room was comfortable ( air conditioning was really nice on hot nights) and having the whole top floor to ourselves gave us privacy and that was nice.

The apartment is well located, the neighborhood is rather safe, 5mn from the subway, supermarkets nearby.

Boris is a good host, and was really flexible with our checking in and out time. He was happy for us to use the kitchen and even let Darren play his guitar! :-)

    I highly recommend Boris apartment.

  • My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to stay in NYC for a few days and we came across this BNB spot. The images were accurate to what we seen upon our arrival. The room is located above the hosts room within the apartment. My girlfriend was uneasy initially, but it was isolated just enough for our comfort. There is a bathroom and adequate closet space upstairs. The weather was really nice, so we would just open a window when we wanted to cool things down a bit. The location was ideal as it was only a few blocks from the G line. There was a a corner store a few steps from the building that served sandwiches 24/7. Boris was easy to communicate with and we had no issues.

  • Room was very much as described. Admittedly small, but very good value for the price. Everything very clean, the neighbourhood safe as houses. I needed to make a phone call on arrival, my cell didn't work, and one of the next doors lent me theirs!!!! One note though, the studio is in the 3rd floor, steep, narrow stairs and we struggled to get the cases cup without help....we are not as young as we were. Also, because of his job, Boris can be in, and cooking in the early hours of the morning, and the doors are thin.

  • Great host, great place, great experience. His place has a "2nd floor" that is totally for you. He was also willing to help with directions, and even gave me a razor so I didn´t have to go out at midnight for one.
    Totally recommended

  • We stayed for 2 weeks with Boris and had a comfortable experience. The room is cosy - not huge - as the other reviews have put - having your own floor with a private bathroom is an advantage. The room was fine as we were hardly there. There's lots of luggage storage space and Boris is very flexible about check out and leaving your luggage if you need more time before departure. We found the neighbourhood fine, didn't feel unsafe walking around, it's a few blocks from the G train which is convenient, but the train doesn't run as often as other lines, but it's fairly easy to get around and get to Manhattan. Be sure to explore the area which is very up and coming and Dough, the doughnut shop which is a 10 minute walk away makes the most incredible doughnuts.

Thanks Boris - it was nice to stay in very affordable accommodation away from the stress of Manhattan - recommended if you want to explore Brooklyn and the lesser known parts of New York.

  • Boris was a really nice, helpful and welcoming host! Everything worked out the way it was planned ahead.
The room is a little smaller than it appears on the pictures, but spacious enough for two people. Everything was clean and ready for us when we arrived. Having our own bathroom and the second floor for ourselves defenitelly (email hidden) for ourselfs was very convenient and no problem for Boris.
Coming home late was absolutely ok - we felt like it's a pretty safe neighbourhood with a lot of young people on the streets, especially on the weekends.
Over all a wonderful experience to have a nice place to come home to after exploring beautiful New York. I'd defenitelly recommend staying with Boris!
See you next time Boris :)

  • We stayed 12 days at Boris's appartment and had a great stay. Don't expect a big room, it is rather small but there is a big dressing available in the hall and the private bathroom is a real plus. Boris is an easy going host, communication with him was good. The neighbourhood is very appealing, with lots of interesting social initiatives such as community gardens and a coffeeplace called Reconnect (make sur you meet the adorable staff there!). It is a perfect place to explore all parts of Brooklyn and connections with Manhattan are easy.

  • Boris is really cool and a chill guy. He's helpful and easy to contact! The place wasn't hard to find (highly recommend (website hidden) maps app) and the neighborhood seemed safe. It's always busy so you feel okay even walking by yourself to the subway. Super easy to get to the city! The room was kind of small but it was cozy! Overall his apt was cute. The private bathroom was exactly what we needed! Never really saw Boris because we we're out all the time so it kinda felt like our own apt in NY for the time being. Stay with him, really good choice!
