Wellcome to the heart of the Old Quarter of Stockholm, and my humble abode!
If location is everything: look no further!
But even so, I have more to offer any traveller weary of stark hotell-rooms and dreary hostels:

If a good nights sleep, undisturbed privacy, a unique waterfront view, and a good breakfast to get your day started is what you'd prefer, you've come to the right place.

There's something else about this space... hard to put in words.
Everyone feels it, it's in the air.
A welcoming peacefulness perhaps, an open feeling.
It's special, anyway, it's home :)

☛Location:
As they say, "my home is my castle", and mine just happens to be around the corner from the actual royal one!
This is the epicenter of original Stockholm, surrounded by all the historic architecture and romantic atmosphere of Gamla Stan and it's wide variety of charm, attractions, and all the services you need.

SUPERCONVENIANT!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Getting around :
The ferries and public transportation are only a minutes walk from the building, ALL the museums, uptown and downtown areas only a scenic stroll away.
Stockholm is archipelagic and the water surrounds all of Gamla Stan, the center of it all.

And just across the small bridge beyond the cathedral is a breathtaking spot by the water with one of the most famous views in town. The perfect spot enjoy the evening sun over a glass of wine, take those fabulous snapshots of City Hall, and even brave evening dip in the open water if you like!
(We take pride in our clean water in Stockholm.)

☛The Flat:
My home has a bohemian feel with an unpretentious, eclectic style in a beautiful, 17-18th century building.

The 2-bedroom, spaceous 125 square meters flat, was built in the Gustavian era (mid 1700’s) with many original features intact. The building is classified national heritage of cultural value, and the flat has a history of it's own.
Nine tall windows provide a flow of natural light and unique views of the surrounding town, glistening waterfront and urban crossroads.
VERY few spaces like these are private residences today.
Quite extraordinary!
___________________________________________________

☛Accomodations:
There are 2 listings in the same flat, for quite different rates so it's very important your inquiry is done on the correct listing/page to avoid confusion.

My separate B&B sleeps two (email hidden) wide bed, an extra high inflatable airbed is available for a third guest.

The room has a separate entrance as well as a private ensuite wc.

Snug yet smartly furnished, the room offers everything you need: a very comfortable kingsize bed (160 cm)
on a loft under the ceiling (with space to sit up straight and move about), a comfy Ligne Roset-sofa, more than ample storage, a table, antique desk, a mini-fridge for beverages and snacks, an electric kettle and assortment of teas in your room so you can help yourself at any hour, a carbonfilter aircleaner/fan, white linnen curtains, mirrors, original art, oak floor etc.
The tall window provides a view of the south hills, open skies, parts of the waterfront, innercity crossroads and the impressive mideval cathedral on Riddarholmen.
In summertime, this window is the perfect spot to enjoy the late sunset so special in the north.

INCLUDED: I provide good towels, washcloths, toilet & tissuepaper, soap & showergel, guest-slippers in different sizes to lend, and crisp, cotton sheets!

INCLUDED : I prepare and serve one breakfast per guest/crowd in my spacious kitchen connecting the room to the rest of the flat, or you can enjoy it in the privacy of your room if you prefer. Anything you want to pick up from the store is in the neighborhood, including a bakery, vegan items, etc for the other mornings.

BONUS: All the inside tips about town you could use :)

As far as I know NOBODY else in town offers what I do, and if you read my reviews you'll see it's good value!

Shower is shared and available when I am at home, ie in the am at least.
Other hours I reserve the right to lock the door to my end of the falt ( not including the kitchen) as I have so many guest coming and going during a season.
Just let me know if you plan on using the shower late in the evening or have an exercise-regimen, as my schedule is often flexible.
(Note: Scandinavians do NOT build full ensuite bathrooms for each and every bedroom, not even in a huge space like this. This is Europe not America, you can get that in hotels ONLY. Understand "shared shower" does not actually involve my being in it when you use it.)

3 GUESTS?
Upon advance request an extra bed for a 3rd guest in this room can be arranged. It's a deluxe airbed (52 cm off the floor, 190cm long, 101cm wide) with a thick tempur-pedic memoryfoam-matress on top.

For a more spacious and exclusive alternative see my second listing: "Bohemian Rhapsody 3-Room Suite".

☛Rates:
As my page states, please don't ask for discounts simply because your budget happens to be very low.
There are plenty of lowbudget hostels in town for studens etc.

Note: .Additionally 300 sek per person (guest no. 2, guest no. 3) just fill in the correct no of guests and you will se the price including the admin and booking fees added by the service.

That's including a served breakfast, and items to prepare on your own other days.

I can give a small discount if you are several guests staying for a longer period.

Dear Guests,
You can be certain I'll do my very best to insure you are comfortable on your visit to Stockholm!

ℋjärtligt Välkommen, ℬienvenue!

Guest Access

Breakfast is served in my very large kitchen next door, all other mornings you are wellcome to prepare it yourselves.
You are wellcome to use my shower when I'm around ( in the morning at least), towels and assorted toiletries included.

Interaction with Guests

You'll see me at breakfast if not other hours, and I'll let you in on all the secrets of getting the most out of your visit if you like. Lots of unique experiances beyond the beaten track ie great food, beautiful nature, cultural events, treasure hunting and nightlife.
Also the desk in your room is full of info, brochures on sites and various activities.
Forget online searches and tourist-centers ;)

The Neighborhood

The original Stockholm, where it all began. Layers upon layers of views, chants and whispers from the past, every way you turn your head there's beauty and craftsmanship, curiosity and detail. Enchanted narrow passages, every street, streetname and building with it's own charm and history. Granite cobblestone streets, the hues of natural pigments on the houses, perfectly illuminated by morning and evening light for great photographs.
Curious antiqueshops, restaurants, cafés, pubs with cellar rooms dating to mideval days, and fascinating doorways and architechtural adornments everywhere.
The myriads of languages spoken; every visitor to the city comes here!
I rarely use the subway, I either walk or ride my bike around town, Stockholm is small and easy this is right in the center.
The magical romantic winter scenery: this is where everyone goes to experiance the christmas spirit. The waterfront all around, a summer dip in the water just beyond my doorstep, and loong sunsets typical of the north.
The hospitable feeling amongst us in the very small community of permanent residents, we care about our area and our visitors :)
You'll find just about everything is in walking distance from this location, with historic scenery on the way.

Getting around

Metro station: 1-2 min walk.
Ten min stroll from T central station.
Reachable by taxi.
Bicycle rentals here.
Ferries to the sights, museums and archipelago nearby.
Walking distance to EVERYWHERE!

Other Things to Note

Only between 300-500 private residents in total in Gamla Stan, the rest are flats and offices for Parliament representatives, the Supreme Courts, businesses, restaurants and museums.

I know the local rates and accommodations well.
Please do not ask for discounts unless you are staying very long.
I do not profit from hosting, I pay rent and expenses and taxes/VAT are sky high in Sweden on all items.

Rates at a hostel on a local ship here is like mine, but only 6 sq. meter rooms with 2 bunks and lousy coffee. ;)

To inquirers interested in staying long term: send me an inquiry and perhaps we can come to an agreement.

  • Location - perfect.
Apartment is a little higgledy-piggledy but I loved it like that - lots of charm, history and stories waiting to be told - exactly what I prefer to those sterile hotels.
Very interesting chats with Jo in her kitchem. She is a font of knowledge on many subjects Swedish and otherwise. And.... she is a magnificent cook - lovely long breakfast on last day - memorable.

    June 2014
  • I had a great time at Jo's place.

The apartment is super easy to find from the main train/bus-station. It's placed right outside the busiest main streets of Gamla Stan and therefor seems to be in a really quiet neighborhood. But there is not far to walk from the apartment to anywhere you need to go. Also the underground is about 2 minutes walk from the front door.

The renting part of the apartment is really charming and has an amazing (website hidden) have made sure that you feel right at home and the room has all the essentials for your stay.

For my stay she had some free time, so she took time to make me breakfast and cake and took me on a walk around town. She is a really nice and interesting woman and she seems to me as a person that know all about Stockholm. So no worries about wondering what you should do during your stay. I got some really good tips about museums, restaurants, bakeries and different parts of Stockholm and really enjoyed my stay.

Recommend highly to book a stay at Bohemian Rhapsody.

    June 2014
  • Bohemian Rhapsody is in a good location in Gamla Stan. I think our stay was not a normal situation as the owner said the kitchen was a bit unorganized and I believe we actually stayed in the owner's bedroom but I'm not sure. It is a lovely room just off the lounge area. We didn't see the other rooms that are advertised on the web site. The bathroom/toilet is separate from the bedroom, also just off the lounge. It was sufficient but not what we were (website hidden), the owner, served us a lovely breakfast the first morning. We slept in a bit due to being tired after an extra long wait to get into the facility the first night. The second morning breakfast was not available when we arrived at the table on time. This time Jo overslept and also needed to shop for some groceries. We ate out the second morning. The last morning we again were served a lovely breakfast. Each breakfast Jo made the effort to serve us traditional food and for me, she remembered that I like milk in my coffee and supplied a pitcher of warm milk. The food was good and we enjoyed hearing about various traditions and history of the (website hidden) was also happy to make sightseeing suggestions and supply maps and information.

  • Jo's place is a real find. It is very convenient, locating Old town where is center of city for tourists or traveller. And her place is also walking distant to everything if you are walking traveller. Though if not, Metro is 5 minutes walk while bus stop is right in front her apartment. (Bus to train station park in front of her apt, while bus fr train station park a corner from her apt). Old town when tourist left is a magical and Jo's place make it easy for me to own it everyday.
As all guests mentioned, her breakfast is real treasure. Love it to the (website hidden) introduced me to know how locals have for breakfast and her menu changes (website hidden) is a very kind and attentive host, she tries her best to make sure you have a lovely stay with her. At night if she stay home, she even made me lovely drink for the night. And above all Joni's friendly and good conversation partner. We had hours of good talk.
If you looking for a good place to stay like local with good friend, then this is the place for u.

  • Fantastic location, comfortable loft, intellectual conversation, gourmet breakfasts, what is not to love? I had a great stay with Jo. She is very giving with her time and her resources. You will have a nice time here! Thanks Jo :)

    November 2013
  • Jo's place is not only located in a great area of Gamla Stan (as if there were a bad area of gamla stan), but Jo herself is a wonderful host and person to converse with. I felt very much treated as a friend and enjoyed my stay so much, if I were ever back there would be no question where I would stay!

    September 2013
  • Jo was a gracious host. Good communications before my stay, and plenty of super advice on Stockholm, including a perfect morning running route. She took a real pleasure in serving and describing traditional Swedish fare, plus lots of insight into Swedish culture. Thanks!

    September 2013
  • My time in Jo's apartment was really enjoyable and very interesting. It's in a wonderful old building in Stockholm's old town and a perfect location for exploring the (website hidden) was the perfect host, providing help and ideas for what to do, where to buy presents and (most importantly) supplying an excellent breakfast and interesting conversation every morning. I am much richer for having been introduced to blueberry soup (!) amongst other things.

    September 2013
  • We had a lovely stay at Jos place! The breakfast and the company were really great! The location of the appartment is perfect in the old town of (website hidden) had so many great tipps for us, thanks again!

    August 2013
  • A friend and I stayed with Jo for nearly a week - and we loved it! The breakfasts, the tips, the conversations. A lot of our discovery of Stockholm was because of Jo and her recommendations - cafes, places that were not part of any tourist guides or websites. Highly recommended!

About
I'm an urban, artistic soul, with a passion for music, art & culture, communication, people, good food and wine, travel, and all that makes life worth living. Living in such an attractive area with room to spare I started taking in guests several years ago through my own network. Mostly artists working on projects here in town. Word spread around and after only a year of hosting with airbnb my listings were top-rated, and I've really enjoyed meeting so many different and interesting people from all around the world, some of which I think of as new friends. Understand that I don't host for profit, nor do I pimp other peoples property. It's solely a means to fill some gaps as unique spaces like mine are quite costly. Especially during wintertime when guests are scarce. I've moved about and travelled alot my entire life, and started inter-rail backpacking 6 weeks every summer at age 16. These days, I don't quite rough it as I did back then, I suppose you get comfortable with age ;) So being an experianced traveller myself I think I know what's key for guests choosing to stay in a private home. I make a serious effort to insure all my guests are comfortable and happy. It's a more personal yet peacefull alternative to a hotell room in a relaxed environment, and I'm proud to have guest-books with many compliments and lots of fine reviews on my page. In fact, the only critique I've found comes from guests who've refused to read the details as well as my messages to them. So please make an informed reservation, I want you to be satified! Also, when you put in a request, I'd be very gratefull for information about yourself and the purpose of your stay. PLEASE NOTE : I can only offer what I have. So if you can't imagine sharing a shower, please don't make an inquiry: get a rental-flat or book a hotellroom. I have a constant stream of guests who all seem to enjoy staying here, and please understand: this is my home. I am neither retired, on vacation nor a housewife, and expect my guests to be reasonably independant and capable travellers. Please be considerate about any shared areas inside the flat and building. My home is a bit anachronistic, no flatscreen TVs, jacuzzis or trendy departmentstore decor. It's a very old building with a different charm and ecclectic mix. If there's anything at all you need, just let me know! Renting with me, is not a dumpy hostell, staffed hotell, nor a sublet. I do all the cleaning and laundry myself, as well as shopping and breakfastpreparations etc. So it involves work on my behalf. And I'm availble most of the time, not merely by email. But please note: I will not turn down the bed for you or clean your room daily. Fresh linnen and cleaning is provided every 5 or 6 days should you stay longer than that. The big kitchen is generally not shared for all meals with guests, exept for the listing of the 3 room suite. But all guests are wellcome to have breakfast there, and there's a table in each private area, so you can of course get local take-out and enjoy it there if you like. As my guest, you'll have privacy and comfort in a unique building with a great view, including halfpension and one cooked and served special breakfast if you like. Relaxed atmosphere and all the inside info about Stockholm you could possibly want, included. I'm happy to provide any tips about good restaurants, nightlife, sights, shopping, culture, transportation and how to avoid the turist traps, just ask! ;) (if you plan on staying for a long period, and prefer buying all supplies yourself, just make sure to ask when you make your inquiry and I'll give you an offer.) Above all I hope to wellcome you to my little corner of the world!
