The Långbyn Forest Cottage is a fresh breakaway from the comforts and chaos of the city. The small, charming cottage is at the entrance of our large and old forest. It is basic living with no running water and a outhouse for ablutions. There is fresh drinking water and rain water tanks. You have access to our private jetty at the lake which is just a short walk or quick bicycle ride away. You have the forest all around you to explore. This is classic Swedish summer cottage living at its best.
The space
When you stay at the Långbyn Forest Cottage you are getting the quintessential Swedish summer cottage experience. No luxuries, back-to-basics living. The simplicity of the space lets you embrace the forest around you and take in the view over farming landscape down to the lake.
Långbyn is a classic Swedish farm which has been in Nina’s family for generations. There is 40 hectares of forest with 20 hectares of farm land down to the lake. The farm consists of two houses, two summer cottages and three big barns. We have a vegetable garden, chicken coop and will soon be welcoming sheep.
Guest access
You have access to our private jetty by the lake for swimming and bathing. The forest has great paths for walking and running, or you can go off the path hunting for berries and mushrooms.
For longer stays (1week or more) guests have access to the shower and laundry room in the main house.
Other things to note
We have our own vegetable garden and chickens, you’re welcome to buy fresh eggs and delicious, fresh veggies in season.

Långbyn, Örebro län, Sweden
What makes our cottage special is actually its location. While it is a retreat into nature, it is also only 13km from the city of Örebro. There is a bus stop with regular trips only 2km from the cottage. Örebro is a beautiful city and the old castle is a must see.
Kilsbergen is 10-20min drive away from the farm for the real nature lovers. Kilsbergen is a large nature reserve and is famous among outdoor enthusiasts: mountain biking, hiking and trekking, rock climbing, swimming, camping.

My wife, two kids and I live on Långbyn, our farm in Sweden. I am originally from South Africa, but moved to Sweden in 2015 with Nina to take over the family farm and give our kids better opportunities. We are Dreaming While Doing as we take on the challenge of running and joy of living on this special piece of land.
