Anglesea is situated at the true beginning of the Great Ocean Road, where the Road meets the Ocean, and the entire main floor of our house is available throughout the summer. Or, just rent one room. My son and I occupy a room downstairs so mostly the upstairs is the domain of guests.
Essentially we have 3 bedrooms for use at all times. Our rooms are clean, fresh and well appointed in a minimalist holiday style.
Please note that the calendar and pricing only reflects one room, B1. As such other rooms may be available.
[(The information below is valid until June 2014 (subject to change without notice)). I am not taking bookings past June 2014. I will open up bookings in August for the rest of the year.]
B1 - is a large bedroom (Queen size bed) with a couch and chairs, a private washroom (w/ shower and toilet), a private deck (dinning for 4) and a walk-in closet (+ a roll-away bed if req). $80 per week night & $90 per night on weekends (weekly is negotiable).
B2 - is a medium bedroom (Queen size bed) with built-in wardrobe and access to a shared washroom (shower, bath and toilet). $65 per night (weekly is negotiable).
B3 - is a bed filled medium bedroom (4 beds = 2 single beds + bunks) with built-in wardrobe and access to a shared bathroom. $30 per bed, or, whole room is $90 (weekly is negotiable).
For all the rooms (the whole house, up to 8 people) is $220 (weekly is negotiable).
The main part of the house has a large comfy lounge (TV, computers, electronic games) and a wood stove. It free flows into a large dining room (seats up to 12) and then into a fully equipped kitchen with enough flatware for 12+. There is also a rear deck with a BBQ and space for up to 8 to dine.
Breakfast is on us but we can provide for and prepare all meals if so desired, or, feel free to feed yourself. Also provided is high speed Internet, some bikes, fishing gear, camping gear, board games, lots of books, computers, some wet-suits and a clothes washing machine. We often feed up to 6 varieties of parrots. We had a few chickens till the fox got them but we still provide free-range eggs.
There is plenty of parking in our quiet court and we can organize access to a tennis court and surf lessons (and boards). Anglesea is surrounded by a large State Park with a variety of walking and cycling paths and the local BMX/Bike track/circuit is just around the corner.
We are 3 minutes walk to the river, 4 minutes walk to shopping, restaurants and the local pub and just 8 minutes walk from the beach.
If you do not have a car a V-Line bus runs 2 times a day (connects to Geelong 40 minutes away). Anglesea is just 15 minutes drive from Bell’s Beach and Torquay, 25 minutes to Lorne and approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from the big city of Melbourne (via a direct hwy link).
We hope you choose to stay with us and visit Anglesea, which is near to all that the Victorian Surf Coast has to offer; Wineries, Beaches, Restaurants, Markets, Forest, SURF and of course, The Great Ocean (website hidden). During your stay my son has volunteered to help with guest luggage, resupply of essentials, maps, directions and suggestions and any gear like bikes, boards, wet-suits, tennis racquets, games etc...
Guests have access to everything inside the house (including my pantry and fridge) and outside (BBQ, wetsuits and a couple of old boards) We provide FReggs, bread, milk, bacon, spreads, coffee, tea, flour, rice, pasta etc (so if you are caught without dinner we can provide).
Some of our guest like to get to know us a bit and we welcome that. We often join guests for meals and spend time on the beach as guides or just company. Conversely, we are happy to let y'all do your thing.
We are situated in a small court (10 houses) about 4-5 minutes walk to the shops and pub and 8-10 minutes walk to the beach. Most of Anglesea is only inhabited during the summer months. From Easter until October the beaches are mostly empty (but that's when the whales pass by).
There is little in the way of public transport except for the Bus that travels the Great Ocean Road twice a day. During summer holidays there are extra busses but otherwise Taxis can get you around town.
We can assist in Kangaroo viewing at the local golf course (best way to see the Roos is to play a round of golf but you can also go near dusk or at dawn (there are other places to view them as well, but we keep them a secret until you arrive).
Very beautiful and cozy house, we enjoyed and are glad we stayed at Ian's home in Anglesea. ...Ian and his son, Devian, were hospitable, warm and very friendly host. The bed and pillow in room that me and my brother stayed in was very comfortable. The bird's feeding was a bonus for us, fantastic and amazing to see so many cockatoos, parrots and magpie at once. Ian was very helpful in gave us some advises of our journey to the Great Ocean Road which we are very grateful.
It is a very peaceful and quiet place if you are looking for a place away from the hustle and bustle city/town. Highly recommended!!!
We enjoyed and are glad we stayed at Ian's home in Anglesea. Ian and his son, Devian, were warm , hospitable and very friendly ; and their place was very comfortable, clean and "home-y". I was in awe of Ian's library .. of sci fi and fiction classics. It was a great place to relax after a drive on the GOR.
My kids loved the cockatoos and rosellas who lived in the tree behind the house ... often visiting the patio.
My kids are already asking me to plan a return visit and to stay here again!
Ian 's house is a paradise of birds. very clean and quiet.Ian and his son are very nice.Thank you very much,Ian.
Thanks Ian for a memorable stay at Anglesea! Great location, wonderful host and fantastic weather. Thanks for lending James the surf board to surf Bells!! He can tick it off his bucket list. He was ecstatic and can brag back home in Byron. We felt at home and loved our spacious and private room. Even had a kangaroo in the back yard!
Very beautiful house, big, clean & cozy... Highly recommended.
Very excellent experience, the host is quite warmherated who told us loads of useful information about the good views along the great ocean road, except that, the room is very comfortable, I love the bed most in which I had a long and sweet dream
We just loved Ian's and Dev's home at Anglesea. They both were very helpful and attentive to our necessities. We occupied the second floor and felt very independent and comfortable, we had everything we needed. The bird's feeding was a bonus for us, fantastic and amazing to see so many cockatoos and parrots at once.
Point Roadknight beach is like a little paradise, beautiful relaxing beach, and it idvery close to Ian's house, a short drive from his home. Anglesea beach is a bit closer and is very pretty as well. In general, the house is conveniently situated in the Great Ocean Road. We'll love to go back.
Great place to stay. Ian and Dev are fantastic hosts. Great meal when we arrived late from the airport. Spacious room. Lots of fun with the cockateels and parrots on the deck. Even a kangaroo in the lot next door to welcome us to Australia! I would highly recommend this B&B
We slipped into Anglesea for a one night sojourn away from Melbourne. Ian is a lovely, accommodating host who opened his ideally structured home to us. The room is private and large.
We shared stories and smiles.
I would recommend this stay in a heartbeat.
Ian is a very great host and a very kind man. He gave us some advises of our journey which are very helpful. The house is quiet and nice. We spent a great time there just like staying at home.
