Our home is situated on the south shore of beautiful Kamaniskeg Lake. It is over 3 miles to the opposite shore of the lake and there is access to over 40 miles of boating. Kamaniskeg Lake is one of the cleanest lakes around and is a great lake to swim or fish. You will hear the loons in the summer. Relax on the sandy beach with a gentle slope in the water. We have a fire pit close to the beach where you can enjoy an evening fire (as long as there is no fire ban) and do some star gazing on the beach. If you are lucky, you may see some shooting stars or even the Northern Lights! I enjoy having my morning coffee watching the sunrise from my lawnchair on the beach.
Our home is Cape Cod style with view of lake from bedroom and living areas. We are in a beautifully treed forest filled with chirping birds and chipmunks. We heat our home with a wood stove so you may wake up to a wood fire on those chilly mornings. You are welcome to join us in the living areas and on the deck as well.
The road is excellent for walking or biking. Hike to the nearby waterfall or see the local sites and nature trails. Whitewater rafting and kayaking is nearby. Madonna House and gift shop are nearby as well as the Mayflower Museum, Crooked Slide Park, Hinterland Beach and other beautiful places.
Your room is approx. 13'x13' and is on the upper west side of the house and is air conditioned and heated! It has just been renovated for your comfort. It has a new comfortable queen size bed with egyptian cotton sheets with blanket or down duvet, TV, DVD player and small fridge. However we do not have cable or satellite connection we do have an internet connection. We have a large selection of DVD's available. The bathroom is on the main floor and has a clawed foot bathtub with shower and also laundry facilities are in the bathroom. The bathroom is shared. We only accomodate 1-2 people in the room.
You will always find fresh baking (I love to bake) and breakfast is included as well as tea and great coffee! Breakfast always includes fresh fruit and if we have the time, we make it extra special. If we are working, the kitchen is yours to make your own breakfast. Judy has a great little restaurant(The Inn Town Restaurant) in Combermere with wonderful hot meals. This year, the Bent Anchor outdoor restaurant and bar promises to be open and is a great place for lunch or dinner during the summer months. Combermere is 7 min. away and Barry's Bay is a 20 min. drive. Algonquin Park is a 1 hr drive.
We have a 2 person Kayak available in which you can explore the beautiful shoreline. Fishing off the dock is good and there are people on the lake who do boat tours for a fee. Even when it is a busy long weekend, it is not too busy here, very peaceful.
This room is suitable for 1 or 2 people only.
And yes, we are very welcoming, friendly hosts who look forward to meeting you!
No smoking in the house. Please be considerate and neat. As this is a residential neighborhood, please be polite to neighbors and no loundness after 11pm. Please do not pollute our lake or forests. We ask that you drive slowly on our road as there are children playing.
Basically, just treat others as you would like to be treated.
Marg and Andy were great hosts! Not only was the location perfect for our fall time adventure but Marg and Andy were knowledgeable on the local area as well letting us know of some secret spots we could go search out that many people would have simply missed. The room was very clean and cozy and breakfast was simply phenomenal! We will definitely look to come back in the summer so we can take a dip in the lake! We will also miss Rav (the dog) who was simply the friendliest dog around and would tease you into giving him a belly rub! I highly recommend staying with Marg and Andy to anyone considering checking out Algonquin Park as the location is a convenient drive away to the East Gate.
My wife and me liked it to be there. We swam every morning in the
beautiful lake. Marg made us each morning wonderful canadien breakfast. We had interesting talks with Marg and Andy and meet there a lovely dog.
wir haben 3 schöne Tage bei Marg und Andy verlebt, sie sind sehr aufgeschlossen und herzlich zu uns gewesen, unkomplizierte Gastgeber
We spend 3 days in Andy and Marg's house. The house is nice and clean and the bed is very comfortable. If you wake up early you can see a beautiful sunrise from the window.
The surroundings of the house could not be better, the lake, the beach, the kayaking, the forrest and the atmosphere between neighbors, it was all five stars plus!
Marg and Andy is great host, they really care about other people. Their dog Raw is adorable, we already miss him.
We will highly recommend their place, and we will for sure stay with Marg, Andy and Raw again.
Marg and Andy's place was a great way to spend our weekend! Their place is right by the lake. We were able to catch a beautiful starry night with a lot of shooting stars whizzing by on their private dock: you can even make out the milky way!, Marg and Andy were very warm and welcoming hosts with lots of advice on fun things to do around the area. Marg loves to bake and if your lucky you may also get to taste one or two fruit pies and or fresh salads directly from her garden. Andy is a great cook and was kind enough to show us a thing or two on grilling and wine. They made us feel very comfortable while sharing their home. Algonquin park is about an hour drive away with great trails to explore. Theres a secluded little waterfall nearby that is a treasure. Their dog Rav is exceptionally calm and always looking for a belly rub. The water is clear, not too chilly and ideal for a leisurely kayak. Staying at their place on Kamaniskeg Lake was a perfect getaway to relax and reconnect with nature.
Marg and Andy are wonderful hosts!! It was our first time using Airbnb and we were a bit nervous but from the moment we arrived they both made us feel very welcome. The dog Rav is great, so warm, friendly and easy going. Marg is a wonderful cook and breakfasts were amazing! The room is lovely, quiet and we managed to sleep in until 11 am which we have not done in more than 6 years, since before we had kids. The area is stunning and the fact that they are right on the lake is great - makes for great outdoor enjoyment on the deck or down at the beach. They are both very knowledgeable about the area and are fascinating to talk to. We will definitely be heading back there again soon!
We have been living on the lake for over 20 years now and absolutely love it. Marg is a nurse and esthetician and has a spa in the home on the lower level specializing in advanced foot care. Andy is a builder and has his office in the home. Most of the kids have flown the coop so we live here with our son Joey and his dog Rav. Every day we appreciate the beautiful surroundings and peace around us. We enjoy peaceful walks, swimming, boating, fishing and many other activities. Rav steals the show, he is an awesome dog and we are his people.
