Overall a good stay — it was easy to get the keys and we actually were able to get in a little earlier than initially agreed upon - which was nice - we had a lot of bags, were tired of traveling and just wanted to get settled. The apartment was as shown in the pictures - very cute and comfortable.
The hosts were very kind to clean the space and accommodate us for the weekend. Very easy communication. Only word of caution is that they are on the fifth floor of an apartment building with no elevator, so you have to walk 10 flights of stairs. Wish this had been communicated prior.
Steve & Silvia were quick and responsive to any questions we had. Their apartment is clean, cute old-school NYC apartment and well maintained. It is a great spot location wise to tour the city. Whole Foods is around the corner and the High Line is very close. The only comment for people would be to keep in mind for older folks / health issues that it is a 5th floor walk up. Thanks for a great stay!
Great place, great hosts.
We were a party of 3 and we stayed at Silvia & Steve's appartment for 5 days. While we never actually got to meet our hosts, everything was well-planned and they quickly replied to every message. Additionally, they have very helpful neighbours who were able to help out after we arrived way earlier than we expected.
The appartment itself is clean, pretty spacious for NYC standards, and the location is hard to beat: restaurant & dry cleaners right next door, coofeeshop, grocery store & FastFood across the street, and the High-Line is literally (!) just 2 blocks away. There are also 2 different subway stations, each about 3 blocks away, but we never really used the tube anyway because sites like chelsea market, Empire State Building, and Flat Iron Building are within walking distance (10-20min).
Possible downsides for picky travellers:
- the apartment is on the 5th floor, and there is no elevator.
- setting the temperature for the shower is a bit tricky (but still way better than what we experienced in most motels where we stayed the week before ;)
- the bedroom windows look out on the street, and the street is in Manhattan. So dont expect it to be the most quiet place in the world. If youre a light sleeper, better bring some earplugs. If you intend to do some exhausting sightseeing and to go to bed after midnight, this shouldnt be of an issue tho.
Highly recommended for parties of 2-3 who want to visit the main attractions during the day and enjoy the nightlife in Chelsea/Flat Iron District/Greenwich Village.
Thanks guys, it has been a pleasure.
Good location and the apartment was clean. Only issue was getting the keys when we arrived as we had to pick them up from Brooklyn as we arrived late in the evening, so be wary of that, but other than that it was a pleasant stay.
We stayed at Silvia's and Steve's apartment for three days in May 2015. The apartment is clean, spacious, well-equipped, and has the perfect size for parties of 2-4 people. It is located within walking distance of two subway stations, breakfast places and some restaurants and bars in Chelsea. Most of the main attractions of Manhattan can be reached by subway within 15 to 30 minutes. Silvia and Steve were very forthcoming and helpful hosts, communication was quick and uncomplicated. I can highly recommend this offering and I would definitely stay there again.
