Are you looking for a place to disconnect, a place of peace, and rest? This secluded, solar powered, off-grid cabin on 50 acres in the Ozark Mountains is located right next to a beautiful spring that runs down to a dam and waterwheel. The sounds of water and nature will be all you hear. Most of our guests come and completely disconnect from the craziness of the world for a few days without ever leaving. We all need a quiet place to go to and we hope you'll find that here at the Moonshack.

The space
Moonshack? The name comes from part Moonshine, because our spring was used to run a Moonshine Still for decades in the early 1900s. And its design and materials used resemble a shack so.. Moonshack! Our cabin by the spring is a dream made reality. The spring is constantly running and the sound alone will make you want to stay forever. The cabin is made with mostly recycled material and truly off the grid with a Renewable Energy! (See "Solar/Generator Use" in Other Notes) . With the off grid experience - you also get a flushing stool (thank me later), an outdoor shower for fun, Air conditioner, a 1920s propane Cook Stove, a 1920s claw foot tub and hammocks both indoor and out. The seating is inviting and comfortable, the vibe is mid century/retro and the outdoors are mind settling. The loft area has 3 twin beds and a futon for sleeping. It also has a kids living area and adult living area. The hammock swing wraps up the cozy feel with the perfect touch. The bedroom has a queen size bed and a dresser. The other living space is open and inviting! Lots of space for a tiny house.

Welcome to Ozark County, THE REAL OZARKS! Thornfield consists of a post office, cemetery, feed store and bait and tackle shop! No worries though - you are 20 minutes from Bull Shoals lake and our favorite place in the world! Grab a bite to eat at Cookies in Theodosia Marina Resort or take a boat ride to Jackie’s for Pizza at night! Also check out the Ozark County Old Mill Tour! Closest Walmart is Ava but grocery stores in Theodosia or Gainesville. You are one and a half hours from Branson, MO where you will find all the entertainment your heart desires! However, we believe that once you get here - you just might not want to leave ;)
