Interaction with guests
My husband and I live in the house. I am within easy access by phone, text, e-mail or a knock on the front door. I make an effort to meet guests when they arrive if I am home or meet them later during their stay. The studio is accessible without checking in with me. I give check in instructions before guests arrive.
The studio is in a quiet residential neighborhood, but close to restaurants, bakeries and shops. For walkers, taking the short cut through the Masonic Cemetery (there is a map in the studio), 19th & Agate is 10 blocks away, a 15-20 minute walk. It's a 5 minute drive. There you will find Beppe & Gianni's Italian Restaurant (voted the best Italian restaurant in Eugene), Sweet Life Patisserie, Prince Pucklers Ice Cream Parlor, Mcmenamins Pub, Studio One Cafe, and Agate Alley Bistro. The UofO and Famous Hayward Field is one more block north. If you go west (left) on 24th Ave. from the cemetery, 24th & Hilyard is 7 blocks away, a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive. There you will find Sundance Natural Foods, Humble Bagel, Rhythm & Blooms Flowers, Sundial Cafe (a new gluten-free cafe and bakery), Sundance Wine Cellars, Burrito Amigos, Allann Brothers Coffee and Cafe, Black Sun Books and A Taste of India restaurant. Many guests have enjoyed walking through the neighborhoods and exploring Hendricks Park and Amazon Park.
The closest LTD bus stop is 5 blocks away on 28th & Harris. Take 28th down to Harris and turn left for the bus heading north. For the bus heading south turn right to get to the bus stop. Look up LTD routes to find out what bus you want to take to where you're going.
No smoking on or near the premises.
A few guests are welcome to visit, but not spend the night .
Please respect our carefully maintained studio apartment.
Be courteous and use common sense.
I'm a retired elementary school principal from Eugene, Oregon. My husband was an architect and designed the studio space above our garage. We raised two sons in Eugene. One son currently lives with his wife and two daughters in Brooklyn, NY. Our other son and his wife live in Oakland, CA. I love Eugene where I have lived for 38 years. It's a progressive university town close to the ocean and the mountains. There is a wide variety of cultural, culinary and outdoor activities available in the area. Rowing with a crew, hiking, gardening, seeing plays, reading, volunteering and meeting our wonderful Airbnb guests fill my days when I'm in town. Travel is mainly focused on visiting my children and grandchildren, hiking/backpacking and going to rowing venues.
