The space
Mango Nest is a simple AC cooled NIPA HUT: a roof over your head, and windows with curtains to let the light in. A place to hang a towel, and a couple of side tables. Two rattan SEATS can be placed in the garden if you want to bask in the sun.

From the parking lot, you’ll enter through the HALLWAY of our main house to get to the backyard, where Mango Nest is located at the bottom of the hill.

IMPORTANT! The Mango Nest BATHROOM is located in the MAIN HOUSE, so guests will have to brave the weather and walk about 30 steps up the hill to access the bathroom. This distance is uncomfortable for some people. The BATHROOM itself is a small, but well thought out and unique space.

A small REFRIGERATOR, BBQ GRILL and utensils can be found in the main house hallway CABINET if you want to grill something up, and use our outdoor seating area when the weather is good. The village is quiet at night, and the garden has ample lighting.

Mango Nest is located in the BACK GARDEN of our Tuki Nes. The garden is set lower than the road, so joggers and dog walkers can see into the garden.

Guest access
The MANGO NEST hut with spacious backyard, bathroom, and grill is your private home for the duration of your stay.

The hut has a three-fourths sized bed good for 2 and ample beddings. The spacious GARDEN features an outdoor seating area and grill, with ample lighting.

The BATHROOM has great water pressure, hot water, and a bidet! A REFRIGERATOR and cabinet are allotted for Mango Nest guest use.

The garden is equipped with FIBER internet. The best signal is by the table under the tree. Because we live in such a woody area, sometimes our internet connection is disconnected by monkeys or falling trees.

The front hallway is a SHARED access hallway for guests and staff.

There is a POOL in a resort nearby which you can use for a fee.

There is a convenience STORE just 1 minute drive from the Mango Nest.

DISCOUNTS
Our guests often regret not booking longer, so we've added in discounts for stays of 2 nights or more. The longer you stay, the bigger the discount. Treat yourself to that extra day!

DAYTIME GUESTS
We charge a daytime guest fee of P500 per guest. Please let us know if you will be entertaining guests in our Nest.

INSECTS
This is a nipa hut with a comfortable bed. Though there are four walls, the hut has a lot of ventilation holes. Insects are attracted to light, so if you leave the interior lights on at night, you will have some insects coming in to join you. If you are squeamish around bugs, this is not the place for you.

In line with our firm cancellation policy, we do not allow rebooking less than 2 weeks before your stay.

CLEANING AND SHEET CHANGES
In our effort to reduce unnecessary use resources, cleaning and sheet changes are conducted every 3 days for longer stays. Should you want your sheets to be changed daily, this can be arranged for an extra cleaning fee.

Neighborhood highlights

Kalayaan is one of the residential hills in Subic Bay. The housing area was built for the American Navymen who were stationed here in the 70s, and you can see from the houses that it still somehow looks like it did back then.

There is a convenience store down the hill where you can get basic necessities. For other needs, there are a few groceries and markets in Subic Bay CBD (Central Business District), about 5 minutes drive from the Boho Nest.

Kalayaan is a great place to watch for birds, monkeys, and other wildlife.

There are several beaches nearby. Our favourite beach just a short drive from the Mango Nest, Camayan (20 minutes drive) is a nice beach with a restaurant. Acea Resort is just down the road from the airport ( 15 minutes drive) and they have day packages which you can avail of.

For scuba diving, Subic Bay has some nice wrecks. Summer is the best time to go when the water is clearer. Camayan has a dive shop that caters to both beginners and advanced divers.

We highly recommend a speedboat day trip to the nearby coves. The dock is just 10 minutes from the house and it's the quickest way to go see the nearby beaches. More info in our guide book :)

For snorkelling and Island hopping, we recommend Zambales. Just an hour drive away, a good day trip is island hopping to Capones Island Lighthouse with a stop over at Camara Island for some snorkelling and lunch on the beach. The jump off point is Pundakit in San Antonio, Zambales. Let us know, and we'll set you up with a boat. Pundakit is also a great place to find surf from June-February.
