The Secret Lounge (Private Aprtmt)

Apartment - Entire home/apt · b Treat Ave, San Francisco, CA 94110, United States

The Mission District has it all- restaurants, cafes, parks, night life, shops, no hills, public transportation, and the most sun in foggy San Francisco. The Secret Lounge is your private pied-à-terre from which to experience it all.

The Space

*** 3 night minimum except when there is only 1 or 2 nights available ***

Our Place: This is a large one-room apartment on the first floor of our house. It's totally private like a hotel room but with it's own entrance. A lot of thought went into creating The Secret Lounge as we wanted a private space that our parents could stay in when they visit their grandchildren. In the times between visits, we are open to renting it out as we are avid travelers and always like to stay off the beaten path as well and enjoy meeting like-minded people.

We love our neighborhood with its great weather, fabulous food and incredible culture. We're happy to share it with you.

We are very central to downtown (BART, aka the subway, is a 5 minute walk) as well as the freeways to the airport & Silicon Valley. But there's really no reason to go elsewhere- The Mission has it all within walking distance: nationally renown restaurants, great shopping, parks, sun, no hills to climb, and tacos, tacos, tacos!

The space has everything you need to base your San Francisco vacation.
•private apartment with its own entrance (with electronic lock so you can arrive anytime after check-in and not worry about coordinating keys with us)
•comfortable bed and clean linens
•wireless internet (high speed 10mb)
•private sink, toilet & shower
•microwave, coffee pot and electric kettle
•ipod/iphone charger with radio/speakers (iPhone 4s and lower)
•your own thermostat for heat (it's San Francisco, no need for A/C!)
•windows that open.

Other great stuff nearby:
Trick Dog
Flour + Water
Mission Local Eatery
Humphry Slocombe Ice Creamery
Philz's Handmade Turkish Coffee
Dynomite Donuts
St. Francis Soda Fountain
Sugarlump cafe
La Palma Mexicatessen
and more....

3 night minimum except during HOLIDAYS when a longer stay is requested.

Interaction with Guests

Interaction with us is as much or as little as you'd like. You have your own entrance and some guests we see very little as they're off touristing or visiting friends. Others we meet on the stoop and share neighborhood gems. We love to share our city but you'll never feel that you have to check in with us if you don't want to.

The Neighborhood

The Mission has the best food, best weather and the best people. Come check it out for yourself.

Getting around

We're 5 blocks from 24th St BART (our subway system) and 1 block from #12 bus to downtown/chinatown. The Mission is very flat and walkable. We almost never drive.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • A very cool and nice situation - clean, cozy and a good location to explore San Francisco either walking, Taxi or BART. Will certainly stay again - thank you David!

  • We had a nice time in SF. There was great food, shopping and sights! We especially liked Valencia Street for shopping in the Mission. David was very accommodating with suggestions and info. He also let us print our itinerary for our flight the next day. For people that aren't used to city-life, you may feel a little uneasy with some of the locals-especially at night. We tried to stay budget-friendly, so we used all of the public transit offered and that was a mixed bag. Bring your tennis shoes for sure! Lots of walking, which is good if you're trying to burn off calories from lunch :)

  • The apartment was very confortable and clean, and both david and Tina were always available to help us in our queries, in order to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

Also, the apartment is located in a nice neighborhood, near the subway and lot of places to eat.

We definitly recommend to stay here, in order to enjoy the San Francisco experience.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed in the Secret Lounge, located just a 5-10 minute walk from the BART station and situated in a quirky district. The room itself is great, flooded with natural light at day. The bed is very comfortable too.

Getting to downtown is super easy by bus if you don't want to take the BART. The stop for the number 12 is just a few minutes walk from the house and can take you directly to Chinatown.

We also rented a car for a day and managed to park in front of the house overnight without any troubles.

David was quick to respond with any enquiries we had during our visit. It was a very pleasant stay, thanks!

  • The Secret Lounge was perfect. It was a first vacation for my girlfriend and I. I had never been to San Francisco before. I fell in love with the neighborhood. We did lots of walking and eating in the Mission. The space was perfect for a couple. David allowed us to stow our luggage while the place was cleaned. He also turned us onto Uber, which we used quite liberally. Would recommend and would stay again.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at The Secret Lounge which was situated on a quiet street. The room was bright, the bed was very comfortable and the apartment was cozy and well thought out. There was so much color and flavor to the neighborhood with great restaurants and lots of vibrant murals. Philz Coffee (not to be missed) is just around the corner. Our hosts had lots of maps, guides and recommendations available. We will definitely recommend this apartment and hope to come back again.

  • The Secret Lounge was wonderful! It was the perfect getaway to our lovely vacation in San Francisco. David and Tina were absolutely accommodating allowing us to store our bags since we landed in SF way before check in. We loved the Mission! It was close to the Bart station making it easy to get there from the airport. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great. It was everything we needed. We would absolutely stay there again. Thanks, David and Tina!

  • Great place to stay. Very clean, easy access to food, public transportation. Super helpful host to communicate with!

  • The Secret Lounge met all my expectations. It was clean, private, and well located in the Mission District, very near a BART Station. Restaurants, coffee shops, and small markets were plentiful. David and Tina were quick to respond to all my questions and were helpful in all respects. When I asked whether I could check in a bit early, I received an immediate yes! A fine San Francisco experience.

  • David and Tina were wonderful hosts! They went above and beyond to make my stay extremely easy and enjoyable. My boyfriend and I flew into the city in the afternoon and dined at local mission market for lunch. I heard about the restaurant from the list of recommendations David and Tina emailed prior to checking in. When we got to the restaurant, I messaged David and told him I was eating lunch at the restaurant and serendipitously met him there. It couldn't have been more perfect because we wanted to see if we can check in early. Sure enough, we were able to check into the Secret Lounge after lunch! On our last day we were able to leave our bags with David while we enjoyed our last afternoon in sf. Check our was a breeze. Accommodations were very neat and tidy. The secret lounge has everything you need and more for your stay!

We're avid travelers but now with two kids we don't get as far from home as we used to. When we do travel- we love to stay in real neighborhoods and experience an area the way the folks who live there do. We love to eat, walk and bike (yes, pulling the kids behind us!). We've lived in The Mission for 15 years and know it well. It's an area we love to show off to visitors.
