The Space

Hiking, biking, beaches, golf, farmers markets, wine tasting, shopping, relaxing…there is so much fun in SLO, you’ll understand why we are called the happiest town in America.

Located at the base of the Irish Hills, my home is only 1 mile from Madonna Inn, 2 miles from downtown, 5 miles from the airport, 7 miles to Cal Poly, 12 miles to the beach, 15 miles to Morro Bay, and 45 miles to Hearst Castle.

Enjoy your stay in this lovely bedroom with adjacent private bathroom in quiet family neighborhood. Walking distance to bus stop, shopping centers, hiking, biking and parks. The room also has a 4 drawer dresser, vanity table/desk and 24" flat-screen TV with DirectTV DVR.

There is convenient parking in front and located in a safe neighborhood with no through traffic. An easy stroll up the neighborhood trails rewards one with expansive near 360 degree view of the city.

I’ve lived in SLO since 1971, graduated from the University, raised a family and own a business. I will be happy to suggest great places to visit, fabulous restaurants as well as secret spots the locals only know.

A second guest room is available for an additional charge of $59 per night or $369 per week. It also has a queen bed. Bathroom would need to be shared.

IMPORTANT — PLEASE NOTE! The City of San Luis Obispo requires us to collect a 10% Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) which is payable upon your arrival (preferably in cash). A payment envelope with the amount payable will be provided for your convenience.

Guest Access

I will gladly give you access to the Keurig coffee maker with k-cups, tea and all the normal additives. I usually have space in the refrigerator for a few items. Additional kitchen cooking privileges will be granted upon request.

Interaction with Guests

I am always happy to be here to greet my guests and welcome them to my home. After that, they are free to come and go as they wish and interact with me as they wish. I continue with my normal schedule but willing to make myself available for questions or needs via phone, text or email.

The Neighborhood

This is a very quiet family neighborhood located at the base of the Irish Hills open space. There is only one inlet/outlet which makes it very safe and low traffic flow. The adjacent mountains make for a lovely view and offer several hiking/mountain biking trails.

Getting around

There are several bus routes that stop at the entrance to the neighborhood. Parking is conveniently located in front of my home on the street. If coming from the airport, taxis are are available from the terminal.

Other Things to Note

We are currently experiencing a drought. Our water is very precious and expensive. Guests are asked to be considerate and to conserve whenever possible.

The outside lights will turn off automatically, however please turn off the inside lights left on for you to find your way to your room.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Peggy (email hidden) and her home was very clean, cozy and impeccably decorated. The bed was comfortable and there were nice touches, such as a water carafe on the nightstand, chocolates and Keurig coffee made available to us. I enjoyed chatting with Peggy and would happily stay here again if/when I return to SLO. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe, with the only downside being the distance from the city center. Therefore, having a car is a must if you want to explore the town and the beach. I did set out on foot and ran on trails around a nearby laguna, which I highly recommend. Had I had more time, I would have also hiked one of the nearby mountains.
Last, but not least, Squirt the Westie is an adorable little perk of staying here. She is very sweet and quiet and loves to hide out under the bed.

  • Listing was an understatement. Peggy's is a lovely house in a wonderful, quiet neighborhood and the house is immaculate. It is very close to restaurants and town, as well as Cal Poly. Peggy is a gracious hostess and very interested in making sure you have a good stay in San Luis Obispo. I loved it that there was space for a few things in her refrigerator and there was a coffee maker (with an assortment of coffees and teas). She showed me how to use the coffee maker right away. We hit it off and I did have a great visit. I will definitely be coming back. Oh, and there are no stairs to climb. Bed was very, very comfortable, and Squirt was quiet, loving, and adorable. I had a wonderful, relaxing time.

  • My stay with Peggy was a great experience. It was like visiting a friend. Her home is beautiful. My room and bathroom was immaculate and very comfortable. She even extended me use of her kitchen one night. The neighborhood is very nice and it was quite convenient to the conference I was attending.

  • Peggy (email hidden) and her house was not only clean but also very hospitable. The room was very homey and she provided ample refreshments, snacks, and toiletries.

As a host, Peggy was very flexible with our check-in time. She was very respectful of our privacy, and the house is located in a great neighborhood. We will be sure to (email hidden) the next time we visit SLO!

  • Peggy (email hidden)! Very generous with her time in telling me all about the area, walking me through maps, giving me ideas for what to explore. The experience has lots of nice little touches, including welcoming snacks for the weary traveller. :)

  • I really enjoyed my stay with Peggy. At first, I was hesitant to rent a room from someone I didn't know. Yet, after the reviews and several emails back and forth with Peggy, I elected to book my stay. I couldn't have been happier. Peggy's home was just beautiful! It was filled with light from every window and centrally located. The bedroom was well equipped with plenty of closet space. The bed was very comfortable. Within a couple of blocks, I was able to hike in the Irish Hills, a 1000 acres filled with amazing trails. The home is close to DT SLO and Madonna Road, which has TJ Maxx, Home Depot and New Frontiers. In the other direction, Avila Beach is only 8 miles away. Close to the freeway, you can travel to Arroya Grande or Pismo Beach. The neighborhood was quiet and i slept great. Peggy was a great hostess. She had the bathroom stocked with toiletries and provided a Keurig maker with an assortment of coffee. I like to cook, so she cleared a shelf in her refrigerator for me. She offers free WIFI and there is a TV in the room with Direct TV. She was very accommodating and I enjoyed several nice chats so we could get to know each other. The neighborhood is very safe and I parked in her driveway. I even brought my bike and she let me store it in her garage. I definitely would recommend (email hidden).

  • This was my first airbnb experience and I do have to admit that staying in someone's house is a bit strange, but Peggy (email hidden). Her house was VERY clean which I appreciated. The room was just as she described it. The neighborhood is very quiet and just a few minutes from downtown. She even let me cook breakfast. I would definitely stay there again and recommend her to friends.

  • Peggy's home is beautiful and she'(email hidden). I was in town for a wedding and she kindly offered me a ride to the ceremony. She puts a great deal of effort into the details and made my stay very enjoyable. Her little dog, Squirt, added to the warm atmosphere. I highly recommend staying with Peggy if you're visiting SLO!
