  • Loved the location, loved the ease of check-in and instructions, and Matt was very quick to respond through email. The place was very clean. The wooden arms on the chair in the living room were all torn up from what looked like some serious dog-chewing damage with splinters sticking out, so we didn't sit there but we were very comfortable everywhere else in the place. The bed seemed smaller than our queen at home and the neighbors were pretty loud late Saturday night, but that's to be expected when the weather is so nice out. We still slept pretty well, bed was comfy. We didn't use the bikes, but liked having that option! Great place to crash if you're wanting a Santa Monica/Venice vibe without actually having to be in Venice.

  • Very friendly and accommodating host. Good and central location.

Unfortunately, it was very, very responsive in the apartment, dogs barked round the clock and everything was heard from the neighbor. It lived up to 3 dogs in the same area, which meant that they yelled at each other most of the time ... I like dogs but the combination of that it was so responsive and several dogs in the same place was not so good, unfortunately.

There was a courtyard with Matt & Sheena which was not tidy. Very dirty and the chairs and tables were covered in cobwebs and dust. Piles of leaves. Not cleaned in a long time..

Bed, wifi, TV and access to bicycles and cars were very good!!

  • Nice, clean apartment. I was travelling alone and found that there were no food shops nearby but I discovered main street (just jump on the Big Blue Bus) where there are plenty of coffee shops and eating places. Matt was great with instructions on arrival and departure.

  • We stayed here for the LA Marathon - perfect location and easy access to everything we needed for the race. Would absolutely stay here again next time we're in LA!

  • We loved the bungalow we rented from Matt & Sheena! Check in was a bit of a puzzle, because we didn't recieve the instructions in time, but accidents happen and the facilities in the house made up for it. We used tthe living room as second bedroom, which ment I slept on the couch for 2 nights and I actually found it really comfortable. I used one of the bikes to get around Santa Monica and Venice, one of the best LA experiences I had. Recommendations: get your morning coffee at Sweet Rose Creamery. Don't wanna go out? Get take away at Sushi Hanashi and doze off in front of the TV that had plenty of channels.

  • Great apartment, as described. Matt is an extremely pleasant chap to deal with, and was very efficient in key access, information etc.....right by a bunch of shops too (walking distance) so its easy to get food and bits n pieces.......

  • Nice cottage with hardwood floors, very comfortably furnished, and very convenient to Santa Monica and Venice. Hosts were quick to reply to questions once I checked in.

  • Matthew's place was very cool and in a great location/neighborhood. Parking was never an issue. Would definitely stay here again.

  • My experience with Matthew and his bungalow could not have been better. From the very beginning, he was very responsive and friendly and always quick to replying to questions. Once we agreed on dates, he sent me information about his place and constantly checked in to make sure I had everything I needed.
As for his home - it's awesome. Very clean and functional. I loved sitting at the desk in the mornings as the sunshine poured in - great way to start the day.
The location is unbeatable. I jogged down to Santa Monica beach a couple of times - 15 minutes (all marathon world records are safe). I also rented his bike for a few days, which is a quick 5 minute ride to the beach, restaurants and bars and shops. I also rented his mini cooper a couple of times to get around LA. It is perfect for the city, loved driving around with the top down.
This was my first airbnb stay and it was a dream. Thanks to Matthew for making it so pleasant and smooth.
In the words of Cali's former governator: I'll be back.
