Outstanding family!!! I enjoyed living in this family!!! The apartments are very well and close to metro. I would recommend staying here.
Grazie Mille Stefania, Giovanni and your children for having me in your flat. I enjoyed staying at your place for my long weekend in (website hidden) made it even more special. I felt at home in a genuine, warm and lovely Italian atmosphere : I had the pleasure to eat one evening with the family. After a long day visiting Rome, you can relax on the spacious terrace. I have slept very well, in the bedroom. The place is well located, metro and buses. you have a very good local restaurant and not to forget the Italian Ice cream: a must! I recommend staying at Stefania & Giovanni's place.
I had a great time at Stefania and Giovanni's. They were so nice; so were their children. Giovanni's communication was extremely responsive, always responding to any inquiry within minutes. He was very flexible about everything - time of arrival, use of facilities. Lovely, generous people. Andreas took me running in the park. A physical therapist friend of theirs looked at my calf, which I had strained zone weeks earlier. Everyone was superlative.
That said, Stefania and Giovanni's place won't be ideal for everyone. It is not central. I had reasons to be located there, but it's near the end of the Metro line A: 20-25 minutes to Termini Station; 20 minutes by bus to the Vatican. It's a quaint neighborhood, though it's quieter and not inundated with ruins and ancient temples or columns on every corner.
The room is small, though has generous room in the closet to hang one's clothes. Comfortable (twin) bed. Exclusive bathroom.
Loved it and loved the entire experience. It's a great option for people who don't mind staying in Cornelia.
Stefania and Giovanni were wonderfully welcoming and kind hosts. They have a spacious living room, while the private living space has all of the basic necessities. They even provide a power converter in case you forgot one! Their children are all very polite and I found the entire experience pleasurable. Everything you could want to get to is easily accessible by bus 46 or 49 or Metro A, which all have a stop very near the apartment. I don't know if any of the sights are walkable because I always took the bus since it was so convenient. I would not hesitate to book with them again if I returned :)
My flight was a bit late and my luggage was delayed, but I made it in time for dinner with the family on their terrace after Giovanni and his son Andrea met me on the subway platform. Very nice start to my 8 day stay.
The apartment is quite spacious, modern, light filled and clean - situated in what seems to be a great Rome neighborhood with restaurants, shopping and cafes. The Ballantini terrace is a pretty sweet start to the day with some coffee and breakfast. There are multiple bus lines and the Metro A line that serve the center of Rome. (It is approximately a 20 minute metro trip to the Spanish Steps stop in Rome, maybe 10 minutes to the Vatican. Get a 7 day pass if you are there for a week, just don't fold or bend it in your pocket!)
I mentioned to Stefania that I'd like to improve my italian during the stay and we spoke plenty. Its great practice. I felt very comfortable trying to speak and listen with the family. I wanted this to be part of my trip and it was - just a lot to balance with all there is to do and see in Rome! Special thanks to Francesco and Giovanni for working with me on the language! I'd come back from my day in Rome and review with Giovanni as he was still awake watching TV - it reminded me of exactly what I did with my dad growing up; conversations to end the day.
Exceptional opportunity to enrich a Roman immersion. For the solo traveler its an easy decision. You're not stepping out the front door into the historical center, but given the crush of central Rome and this amazing apartment, that's a good thing.
Thanks again to the Ballantini family for a warm, authentic, memorable experience.
I had a great time staying with the Ballantini's. They were very welcoming and easy to talk with. The apartment was in a good location, very close to the metro and bus stop. I would recommend staying here.
Grazie Mille!!!
