About this listing

Gorgeous country retreat between Burlington and Middlebury. A "dimensionally transcendental" space (bigger on the inside ;o) built as an artist's studio, located in a meadow bordered by woods and a wide creek on 22 acres, magical in all seasons.

The space

One large, 2-story room with two double beds: a bed on the main floor with a plush mattress, and a comfy futon on the sleeping loft. There's a well-equipped kitchen perfect for making romantic dinners, with new (spring 2016) fridge and commercial range. There are both electric and drip coffee set-ups, and a toaster. No microwave. A large dining table (made by a local furniture building from local wood) for the amazing dinners you'll make, or to spread out your work and find inspiration. The center of the space holds a comfy "living room" area with a new couch (spring 2016) to hang out in. The cozy bedroom corner on the main floor and the futon on the sleeping loft make for dreamy night sleeps, both have fans and windows to stay cool in the summer. The recently renovated bathroom has an antique claw-foot tub, with a removable plank "desk" for your book and glass of wine. There is a radio & CD player, and iPod/Phone hook-up, wireless internet, and a land line.

As you can see from the reviews, it's a very special place, intimate in size but expansive in feel, because of the cathedral ceiling and wall of windows with a view onto the meadow, creek, and sunset. It's a beautiful artistic/rustic interior, quirky, with a high level of comfort, many lovely rugs, and a lot of art. Perfect for an active vacation, a romantic get-away, or a creative, spiritual, or rejuvenating retreat.

Guest access

The surrounding 22 acres of land are gorgeous in all seasons. There's great snowshoeing and cross-country skiing right outside. In the warm season, hang out in the outdoor living room nestled in a White Pine woods right outside the back door or swim in the creek that borders the woods. Walk .03 mile along the road pictured above and play in the waterfall or sun on the rocks near the covered bridge. A few miles away are Lake Champlain, hiking trails, and swimming holes. Explore Burlington, Middlebury, Vergennes, and Shelburne, and try their great restaurants, museums, and shopping, all within a half hour's drive. And don't miss the famous flatbread pizza served one night a week in winter and two in summer at Pizza on Earth, on a lovely farm 5 miles away, with a stop on the way to pick up beer or the perfect bottle of wine at Spear's country store. There's lots to see and do, but you might want to snuggle in and stay put.

An all to brief, one night was not nearly enough to fully experience what this Air BNB has to offer. It was most beautifully decorated. A nice and soothing soak in the bathtub may have been one of favorites. I will definitely will come back for more

We loved our stay here! The studio is a very comfortable, uniquely decorated and has a great energy. Loved the timber beams, nice kitchen area, wi-fi, small fire pit outside, good views and located close to a small creek. The location is fairly secluded off of a long dirt road, but just a short drive into nearby towns and about 30 minutes to Burlington. Definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a comfortable and creative getaway. Would definitely like to come back in the summer or early fall.

This place is JUST perfect. Very comfortable. We have a projector and threw a white sheet over one of the beams and had a movie night! there is no cell reception but there's shouldn't come to such an amazing place and be on your phone the whole time anyway! I DEFINITELY recommend and I will be staying here again!
