**If your stay is ten days or longer, we will require a mid-week clean. The fee for this is $200. The same cost will be added to your checkout cleaning if you decline the mid-stay cleaning.

**We do not allow private parties or Weddings as we are not licensed or zoned for hosting commercial events.

**Our property is incredibly unique and located in a remote mountain town. Authentic Mountain living, our property hosts the occasional alpine visitor.
Twin lakes features an abundance of wildlife, from big cats to little birds. You may stumble upon these feathered or furry creatures while out and about. Although we maintain our property with pest control, we ask that our guests do their part by keeping the house crumb-free. Although there is no AC in the main house (like most of Colorado), it isn't needed. Our higher elevation and place on the mountain provide refreshing cross breezes 24 hours a day. You might even want to leave the sliding doors open overnight during the summer and fall to cool the house. In doing so please ensure that screen doors are completely closed as to avoid unexpected visitors inside.

Neighborhood highlights

Resting in the shadow of Colorado’s tallest peak, Twin Lakes is one of Colorado's most scenic locations. Once a mining transportation hub that served the communities of Leadville and Aspen, today Twin Lakes is a place to get away from it all. The area is especially popular for fishing, boating, hiking, snowmobiling and photographing quintessential Colorado scenery.

Twin Lakes Reservoirs have a combined surface area of 2700 acres. Rent a kayak, canoe, or standup paddleboard to float on the lake, or take a guided boat tour to the former Interlaken resort. The lakes also feature excellent fishing for brown, rainbow, and cutthroat trout with trophy lake trout potential. The reservoir has excellent amenities and is nestled at the base of Mt. Elbert and the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area. Feeling adventurous? Get up early to bag 14er Mt. Elbert (14,433’), Colorado’s highest peak, or cycle up Independence Pass.

Choose a hike or mountain bike ride on the Colorado Trail and Continental Divide Trail: a sage-studded route around the lake, a lake-shore trip to the ghost town of Interlaken, or a rolling path through aspen groves. Rent an e-bike on which to explore. For a scenic workout, make the climb up Hope Pass that is part of the famed Leadville Race Series 100-mile trail run.

In the winter, the road is plowed through Twin Lakes, so you can access these trails for magical snowshoeing and Nordic skiing. Ice fishing is also very popular in winter months once the lake has frozen.

For mining history, antiquing, shops, hot springs, white water rafting, and restaurants, plan a day trip to Leadville or Buena Vista, each just half an hour away.In summer, drive the National Scenic Byway that twists and turns up to 12,095’ Independence Pass, ringed with high peaks. To explore Aspen, continue on, just an hour’s drive from Twin Lakes. (The pass is open Memorial Day to October.)
