This beautiful gingerbread victorian house is perfectly located on Morton Avenue in the historic Original Highlands neighborhood. It was built in 1900 and thoughtfully updated in 2017. Many of the charming, historic elements remain. The location is well suited for guests who would like to walk to local shops, restaurants, and nightlife establishments. The highlands is an eclectic neighborhood with the largest concentration of local businesses in the city, catering to locals and guests.

Street parking is available for guests and readily available. You will enter through the front door via a digital keypad and enter the entrance hall. Immediately to the left is a dining room with comfortable seating for 6 guests. The built-ins, dry bar, and tray ceiling give the historic space a modern feel. The fireplace is non-working.

From the dining room, you will enter the living room, with seating for 5...one sofa and two chairs. The sofa converts into a bed for an additional sleeping area. The TV features HULU tv for live, streaming TV. The fireplace is non-working.

Directly off the dining room, in the rear of the house, is a well-stocked kitchen - completely updated with granite countertops and stainless appliances. The kitchen contains a full bathroom, which serves as a half bath for the first floor but also features a shower for guests using the living room sofa. A small number of guests have stated the first-floor full bathroom was inconvenient for guests sleeping on the second floor to use for showers. Please make note of this for any privacy issues within your group.

You can exit the back door of the kitchen to enter the private backyard space with pea gravel sitting area and wooden picnic table for al fresco dining. Just around the corner is a partially-covered patio with a small outdoor kitchen space and gas grill. Please check the propane level of the gas grill prior to use. We do not monitor propane levels. Additional propane is available 2 blocks away at Walgreens if needed.

At the far end of the entrance hall is a large laundry room with washer and dryer. We provide laundry pods and dryer sheets for your convenience.

At the top of the stairs, you will come to a full bathroom, which serves the two send-floor bedrooms. Both bedrooms feature wall-to-wall carpet, which is especially welcome in the winter. Both bedrooms feature comfortable queen mattresses, tall ceilings, and historic elements. Both fireplaces are non-working.

The house is heated and cooled by a central forced-air HVAC system. A small number of guests have experienced warm temperatures on the second floor during the hottest days of the year. We provide window blinds and supplemental portable HVAC systems for each bedroom and ceiling fans to help cool the space and circulate air. These have proven to provide the comfort most guests require.

We use a noise monitoring device; It does NOT record actual sounds or conversations, it simply listens to the noise level (measured in decibels).

Guest access
Detailed check-in instructions will be sent by e-mail at 3 PM EST the day prior to your arrival and will include information related to parking and property access. Check out is at 10 AM.

We do our best to accommodate all early check-in and late check-out requests. Please contact us the day prior to your scheduled check-in or check-out to discuss. Check-ins before 2 PM and check-outs after 11 AM will have an additional cost.

This property has a strict policy against noise after 10 PM nightly. It is important to us that we are good neighbors and a compliment to the community.

Please review the listing description and photos in detail and let us know if you have any questions. We are happy to help!

Other things to note
You will be renting an entire house. Unlike a hotel, no one is on-site 24/7. If problems arise, we do our best to take action ASAP. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything at all.

Our kitchens are well-equipped to prepare meals and feature all cookware and dining utensils. Basics, such as salt, pepper, and oil, are often on-site. However, we are not always made aware when the last of these items are used. Please check the space before going to the grocery to ensure you have all items necessary for meal preparation.

We offer two large, comfortable bedrooms at this property. Both are located on the second floor, which requires climbing stairs to access. The living room features a sofa bed that you may also use during your stay, as well.

The house is located directly across from a Middle School. Please be sure to abide by all street signs. Busses drop off students in front of the school during the school season, so no parking is allowed on the other side of the street during designated times.

Some favorites among locals are, Holy Grale, The Fat Lamb, La Que, Seviche, Wicks Pizza, Impellizaries Pizza, Migo, Ramses, and Sapporo Japanese grill and sushi. If you’re looking to stop for a quick drink, Ramses, Cafe of the World, is excellent and has light bites. Havana Rumba, Lilly’s, Asiatique, and The Bristol are all excellent options. Barret bar is a great local spot nearly across the street from the house and has pool tables, and nice collection of beers on tap and food as well.

If you’re looking for something a little more active during your stay, Cherokee Park, an expansive and beautiful park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed Central Park in NYC, is near. It is know for its multitude of bike paths, trails for mountain biking, dog parks, yoga sessions and gazebo’s for summer cookouts. Tyler Park is also just down Baxter Avenue and walking paths and tennis courts.

Louisville is booming with distilleries and breweries, popping up left and right!! Be sure to check out a few during your stay here. Gravely, is a quick car ride or bike ride down Bardstown Road, and offers a fantastic selection of local beers on tap, beer cocktails and food by Mayan Cafe.
