The Neighborhood

This beautiful apartment is located in a renewed building dated early 1900s, in the historical district named San Lorenzo. It occupies the early stretch of Tiburtina road (one of the historical ancienr Roman roads) starting from Termini railway station and ending at the Verano area. You can reach the Colosseum by walking downhill for less than 20 minutes!
Originally a working-class neighbourhood it has been a popular, left-oriented area. During WWII it was heavily bombed by Allied planes. Maria Montessori's first 3-6 age program was started in San Lorenzo in 1907. Today due to the vicinity of the La Sapienza University, it is increasingly assuming the character of a student and young artist district. Every evening, hundreds of young people descend on the area. Pizzerias, boutiques and other modern places are subsequently replacing the old popular workshops and small markets.

Getting around

You can reach the historical city centre by using the bus # 492 or the metro A from Vittorio station.
Or you walk to the Coliseum and St. John in Lateran Cathedral within 20 minutes.
You can reach the apartment from the airport by inquiring for a transfer, using the bus from the airport to Termini station or the Leonardo Express direct train from Fiumicino Airport to Termini station, and then walk for 10 minutes.

Other Things to Note

Don't bring too heavy suit-cases as you will have to reach the 4th floor by climbing the stairs!
It' is an historical building and there is no elevator.

  • this is a lovely flat you can find everything you need. it is very clean, spacious and well decorated. the area is also very nice, i read some reviews before my travel that the area was unsafe. but it is not, really.
we stayed in Romakko apt at the end of November and the flat was a little bit cold. the central heating was not working enough. there is an air conditioner in all the rooms. but the floor is always too cold.
Victoria is also a great host, she gave us good advises about restaurants, museums, public transportations, etc. she is so sweet and helpful.
we enjoyed our stay in Romakko and look forward to come back again.

  • The Romakko Apt was a wonderful place to stay for our three nights in Rome. The place was very comfortable for our party of four, with the 1/2 bathroom in the master bedroom, coordinating showers for the full bathroom was no problem at all. Virginia was very accomodating and responsive to all of our needs.

Some might be put off by the area as it does have a lot of graffiti on the store fronts, but the place was nonetheless comfortable, quiet, and enjoyable. In fact, we loved the area and the accessibility of food, gelato, and late night drinks, getting a true feel for the city.

We would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Thanks again Virginia for your hospitality.

  • The Romakko apartment was a wonderful experience. We could not have asked for a nicer apartment or a better host! From the minute we booked our reservation Virginia was more than helpful! She answered all our questions regarding our arrival at the apartment and it's amenities immediately, and was very helpful in coordinating our arrival to the apartment. After arriving she gave us a very detailed review of Rome and the apartment, a map and tips on popular things to do within the city! Her apartment was beautiful, remarkably clean and very cozy!! We felt at home during our entire stay, and I can definitely say that staying here made our time in Rome phenomenal! I would recommend this apartment to everyone visiting Rome.

  • Virginia (and her apartment) was awesome! We were a family of 5 and stayed at her place in Rome for 4 nights. She was very helpful and patient with us - took almost an hour to introduce us to the city and was always very helpful and prompt in her responses and communications. I would definitely stay at her place again.

  • We use airbnb the whole journey in Europe!
This roma apartment is really really worth the price!
It is spacious enough, we only have two people and we stay in different rooms. The neighborhood is quiet and downstairs around the apartment, you could find a very good pizza shop.
Virginia also offered us very detailed information about how to use the facilities and how to have a sightseeing in roma
I had a wonderful stay, if I visit roma next time, I will definitely choose Virginia'apartment again ! Thanks a lot

  • We had a great experience staying here. The hosts were very helpful and accommodating with out late flight arrival. They set up a cab/driver for us which helped us greatly in our travel stress. We comfortably stayed a few days with a family of five. Everything we needed the house had. The location is in a neighborhood with some local food options. 2 bathrooms were nice (only 1 shower though). We would stay again for the price and convenience to the train and bus station.

  • These apartments are really nice. Fabio and Virginia helped us with all possible (like places to eat or ways to go to sightseeings) and real (boiler was broken, but they succesfully repaired it) problems. Thanks a lot to them, and I recommend Romakko apartments like a good place to stay in Rome:)
