Apartment - Private room · Castro St, San Francisco, CA 94114, United States

The Space

We'd love to host you in our beautiful 4-bedroom, 1500 square foot, top floor Edwardian apartment. The entire flat is $400 a night (about $100 per room). When we are away we can combine any of the 4 rooms with special pricing. We discount for children and for stays of 6 nights or more. Dates when more than just the Garden Lovers Room is available:
June 2 - June 24
July 3 - July 14
July 27 - August 12

While our address is on Castro Street and is just a few doors down from where Harvey Milk lived and worked (where the movie was filmed), it is up a small hill that allows us to be central, but quiet.

The Cool Blue Room is our largest bedroom at a full 165 square feet (15 square meters). With a Queen Bed, library and enviable view you will feel both at home and fully a part of the San Francisco milieu, while being minutes from everything.

Available for shared use while at The Heart of The Castro:
- Dining area with seating up to 10
- Well appointed kitchen for the serious (or not) cook
- Expansive lush garden
- Modern washer and dryer in unit

We have three bedrooms available in our large 1500 square foot (140 square meter) top floor Edwardian flat. Please inquire about our other listings or for groups of up to 6 people. Take a look at the lower right corner of the page for "My Other Listings."

Interaction with Guests

If you rent the entire flat we will make sure a friend nearby is available to greet you and help if anything goes wrong. If renting a room while we are in town we are likely to invite you to join us for dinners, or to go out and even for our weekly Tuesday Night Game Night Party. We are very social and want to make you feel welcome in San Francisco.

The Neighborhood

Located on Castro Street between 19th and 20th Streets. Ours is a residential block, just two blocks from the center of the famed Castro District and its stores, restaurants, nightlife, grocery and 24-hr drug store, playground, and Muni underground train station. We're 3 blocks from Dolores Park, which is the best place to enjoy a sunny day in the city.

Getting around

The world-renowned Castro district is famous for Harvey Milk and Gay nightlife. But the locals know it as the heart of the city, situated at the perfect center. More than a dozen major transit lines run through in every direction, making the entire city an arms reach away. Some of the City's best restaurants, wine bars, parks, bakeries, murals and people watching are here.

  • We spent one and a half week at Geoff and Craig’s little family and had a great time. The location is perfectly centered at the Castro, there are lots of bars, cafés, clubs, and stores around, just as parks nearby. The city centre is easy to reach as well. Geoff provided us with great advices to explore the city beyond the ordinary touristic stuff. The room was really lovely prepared, we had the ability to use the kitchen as well, so we really felt like home. It was way more personal than just staying at a hotel. Thank you for making our stay as pleasant as possible!

  • Geoff and Craig made my stay in SFO unforgetable. They were on travel themselves while I had the blue room, but have constantly made sure via mail and txt that everything was allright. The room is spacious with lots of space to put clothes in, the shared bathroom was nice and clean and the well equipped kitchen was good to prepare breakfast and dinner if i wanted too. The living room was a great place to meet with the other guests. All were respect- and helpful with each other and always shared tipps on where to go and what to see. Geoff himself had loads of good hints for a great experience in the city, beginning at directions for getting here and there by public transport, tipps for good restaurants and he also found a great gym for me which gave me a 10 day pass for as low as 40$. I'd definetly recommend the space, if one is good at socializing and prefers not to have an anonymous hotel-atmosphere. Great place to stay.

  • We enjoyed our stay in the castro. The room was very cozy and clean and our hosts had lots of helpful advices for us.

  • When we first arrived and opened the blinds, we realized that we had a panoramic view of the entire city of San Francisco. Need I say more? Other perks included the free Wi-Fi, access to the kitchen and hip living room, and a private bathroom. Geoff and Craig left cereal for us and offered us access to the desktop computer. For a couple, the location could not have been better, with access to all the major bars and various eateries. We wanted to give the place 4.9 stars but had to round off. Our only complaint was with the heater. But hey, if you are looking for an authentic early 20th century home, you have to expect an authentic early 20th century heater! Thanks to Craig and Geoff for a fabulous time!!!

  • I can't recommend staying here enough. The location is excellent, room and facilities good, and the host Bret made me feel right at home. Stay here if you want to feel more like you're living in the Castro than just staying for a couple of nights. Oh and if you can charm him... Bret makes awesome hamburgers!!

  • I found Geoff and Craig's place in the Castro district to be a genuine home-away-from-home. This was my first Airbnb experience, and it has set the bar very high. Here are some of things that made my stay so memorable:

    * Geoff and Craig's friend, Bret, is an amazing host and made special effort to make sure that each guest felt welcome and comfortable.

    * The location of the residence is fantastic ~ the Castro area has a safe & friendly vibe, which was very important to me, as a female traveller on my own. I had no problems walking around at night etc.

    * Geoff and Craig's guide to San Francisco, emailed to me in advance as a PDF, was indispensable. Negotiating the public transport system from the airport would have been far more daunting without their tips & directions (Note: Follow their advice and get a Clipper card!). The guide also gave some really good itinierary suggestions and helped me to get a sense of which areas I wanted to go to, and which ones I should avoid.

    * All of the other guests were friendly and considerate of others.

    * The residence was very clean, and noise was not an issue.

    * Yummy organic foods (eg cereals, bagels, coffee) were supplied for breakfast each day.

You won't regret making a booking with these guys :)

  • Perfect accommodation for a weekend in The City! Great hospitality, quiet room and very short walking distance to everything Castro. I'll be back should the room be available during my next stay. Thanks guys for making my weekend unforgettable! -Tom

  • I had a fantastic stay here. The location is great, the property was clean, and the host (Bret) went out of his way to make sure I had a great visit. I would definitely stay here again.

  • WOW! This was my first Airbnb trip, and it was amazing! I could not have asked for more. The location and the house was AMAZING. My host, Bret, was THE BEST. He went above and beyond what I expected... pastries in the morning... dinner one evening... drinks one night. I am afraid that I may be a bit spoiled after this. A thousand thank you's to Geoff and Bret for making my San Francisco trip one that I will never forget.
