We ask you to bear in mind that electricity costs are very high in Jamaica and make every effort to conserve electricity (by turning off the AC when not occupying the room, turning off the heater when you leave during the day and at night and turning off lights when you are not using them).
The house was in a safe gated estate.
The house was basic and could do with a deep clean.
I was looking forward to sitting on the out door seats but after a closer inspection we decided not to... old and tatty.
The bedding was basic and the bedrooms consisted of just a bed and that was it.
No bedside cabinet or other furniture.
The pool seemed ok although we did not use it. This was manly due to there being no Pool Side Chairs or loungers.
The WiFi worked well, and building was secure.
Some small changes could turn this place into a fantastic place. Just needs some TLC.
We stayed at the property for 10 days in August 2014. The house is lovely and is in a gated community; very quiet and peaceful. The swimming pool is next to the house which is great. There is currently no pool furniture but this will be fixed next year – the pool furniture is outside of Danielle’s responsibility as the pool is managed by some other agent. The pool was cleaned on our arrival day.
The 3 bedrooms (each with a private bathroom) are huge but very bare – containing just a bed. However, one has a computer table and a chair. It would be great if bedside tables with a lamp were provided at the very least. The air condition is only available in the two bedrooms upstairs, but when home, if the bedroom doors are left open and the external doors and windows are kept shut, then the cool air does circulate the whole house – this makes a huge difference especially if you are in the living room watching TV. The two top bedrooms contain big closets with shelves. Hot water is available and so is Cable TV but of course, not with all the channels. The house has Wi-Fi too – thank goodness for that!!
I found the taxi driver as recommended by Danielle to be much more expensive than the others. He may wish to lower his prices and make it more competitive if he wants business from visiting foreigners. We are not made from money.
I had lots of correspondences with Danielle and she was quite prompt in getting back to me with my queries. She was very helpful in explaining things about Jamaica. When requested, she got us an iron and an ironing board together with a make-shift wardrobe for the downstairs bedroom. There were even drinks in the fridge waiting for our arrival. There is no washing machine or dryer – but we had enough clothes for the duration of our stay anyway. The veranda provides a relaxing atmosphere for chilling in the evenings – but look out for the mosquitos!
The sofas in the living room needs updating or a good clean would suffice. The mattresses are clean and there were fresh linen on the beds with some spares. We found the pots, pans, crockery and cutlery ideal for our needs. The gas stove would not complain if it got a good scouring. The dining table seats 6. There are ceiling fans in every room, except for one of the top bedrooms – however, I did not miss it as the air condition was more than adequate. The supermarket is within walking distance and stocks everything.
Overall, we would stay at the property again.
Quite location and safe location. Big house, however not much furniture. Bedrooms have only bed and one of them has a desk, no shelving or (website hidden) wasn't working. House wasn't cleaned well at all especially bathrooms and kitchen so than first thing we did was cleaning. Tried to contact the host about the condition of the house and additional bed that I requested when making a reservation that was not placed for us but both phone numbers provided were going straight to vmail.
Hey guys! I just stayed at Danielle's Whispers villa from march 9-14th 2014. It was honestly an amazing experience! It's located in ironshore, it's a gated off complex only a 7-8 mins drive from the airport. It's a short 4-6 mins walk from shopping plazas, such as progressive foods, (somewhat like a path-mart grocery store). You can find everything you need from shampoos to poultry and meat. There are lots of souvenir shops, ice cream stop and a Chinese food take-out. And right across is a blue diamond shopping plaza, it has local stores. Across the highway, there are 3 resorts, 2 being all inclusive. Hotel Riu and Sandals both offers day and night passes. Riu is $90pp for day or night, sandals is $85pp day or night. Day 10am-6pm, night 6-2am. All you can eat and drink, and you have access to all of their amenities excluding the rooms. It's great if you are looking to just relax by the beach, cuz it's honestly really hard to find a beach in Montego Bay without an entrance fee, and all beaches in ironshore are owned by the resorts. Coyaba beach resort is a little further down from the other two. It offers $20 entrance fee for the resort, you can use their facility, however it is not an all-inclusive offer. My boyfriend and I stayed at Riu and sandals for the day pass. I absolutely highly recommend sandals! You won't regret it! It's so worth your money! Danielle villa is located far backlight corner, right next to the pool, which is in great condition!!! It's so clean and spacious. The villa has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, with a living room and dining room, and a fully equipped kitchen. Not to mention Danielle stocks the fridge with popular beers. She has lots of seasoning on the shelf if any of you wish to cook as a way to save money on some days! There is only 1 AC in the house, which is located on the upper stairs bedroom. The condition of the house is amazing! Well stocked with hand soaps, toilet paper and lots of linen. However, I do recommend bringing your own beach towels, if you use the pool a lot. All in all, her home was very lovely, I was very sad to leave! It was really a great vacation home away from home! Location: 9/10 you have to take taxis to downtown MoBay. However if you wish to stay in ironshore, everything's walking distance. Cleanliness: 10/10 amazing condition! The bathrooms are large and bright! Communication with the host: 10/10 she is very responsive and answers all your questions. We hired a driver to take us around to Negril and Ocho Rios. It's definitely way better than to join a tour group, it's going to save you so much money. Definitely try Juici Patties or if you ever end up in Ocho Rios, try Mother's, it's the original patty shop. There's also a great craft flea market...
Hello all, we just came back from Jamaica and had a tremendous time. Danielle's villa is very spacious and well kept. While not exactly close to downtown Montego Bay, we had no problems taking the Route taxis there and back. I would definitely recommend this quiet villa.
Great location. House needs quite a few more creature comforts to make it truly feel like a home.
My experience was not the most positive. But it did caution me for future rentals. To make a list of questions to ask the owner about the actual amenities that are used to advertise the property. Our first day was a total disappointment. The property was not cleaned throughly. The bathrooms especially, the toilets were disgusting, food crumbs left on the stove, hair and stains on some of the bedding linens. I was wanting a place with air conditioning, which it was advertised, however the only units were in the upsatairs bed rooms, which was not helpful for the first floor, it was so hot and uncomfortable. The pool was another issue, it took 3 days to get someone to come and clean it, there was a lot of debris, dirt and leaves on the button of to pool. And no BBQ grill. My family was looking forward to cooking outdoors, come to find out the grill had been removed from the property. I have traveled back and forth to Jamaica for over 14 years and this has been the worst place I have stayed, and will not stay hear again. Very disappointing!
We take pride in our vacation home and are responsive to any of our renters needs. Since we are local, we can give you personalized recommendations and info on the area. Our property is fully furnished and we have all the amenities of home! Our vacation home is your vacation home. Enjoy your stay.
