About This Listing
A simple double bedroom with private ensuite shower/toilet in heart of London's Soho/China Town.
This is a double room with its own shower and toilet, so no need to share with anyone else.
The location is great, West End of London. You can't be any more central than this. Hundreds of restaurants, bars, theatres and museums nearby, all with in less than 5min walk. Do expect some noise as it's backed onto restaurants.
Our rooms are simply decorated and are clean and comfortable.
We don't really have a kitchen in the flat, because with so many restaurants are around, our guests are out all the time enjoying their London experience and food. There is a toaster and kitchen sink and mini fridge.
Fast Wifi is included. We can do some basic washings for you (1 load a week), or laundry services can be ordered easily from local supplier. Bedding and a bath towel for each guest is provided. However if you are fussy about towels, then please bring your own towels, we wash our own towels and they are not going to be fluffy and sparkling white.
There is no TV as I couldn't get TV aerial installed.
I am a very honest and down to earth person, I want you to be aware of any potential issues before hand and be happy with any bookings you make with me. If there's anything you need, just ask and we shall try our best to help you. We live and work next door with our family. One thing I do ask our guests is that please be considerate to all others who are living in this block and absolutely no smoking anywhere inside the block.
Also I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that this is Airbnb, not a hotel and you are in people's private homes. We do our best to make sure everyone has a great time, but we don't run like a hotel and we are working families, so we are not around 24/7.
Another thing just to be clear -- the flat backs onto restaurants and pubs, there're some noise especially on Fridays and Saturdays upto midnight, it can be too loud for some people.
Interaction with Guests
We don't interact much with guests apart from check-in, as the rooms are self contained. But we are contactable if there's any problem.
Great location, theatres, cinemas and lots of restaurants, cafes within minutes of walking.
Very easy by public transport. In the very centre of London.
No smoking anywhere in the building.
During the first half of my stay, there was a heating problem - too hot. Unable to lower it because the controller was in the adjacent room. Having resolved that problem eventually with my host, a new one replaced it - too cold. Almost a comedy!
However, the best part of Jenny’s place was Location, Location, Location! How thrilling to be right slap bang in the middle of Soho Chinatown. Roast ducks hanging everywhere, steaming dim sum trays stacked next door! Short strolls to Covent Garden, Trafalgar Sq, the Thames, Haymarket..
And being able to drop off shopping bags (SALE!) frequently back into the room! I normally dislike walking around with any amount of bags so that was truly godsend.
WiFi speed was also very impressive. Hot water was always available. Outside noise wasn’t a big issue, even with the window opened.
Very accommodating person. Helps the guests to definitely come back. Am already fixing my 3rd stay at Helen's place in December. That's the best I can state.
- Decent room, clean and legit.
- Very neat and helpful host.
- very good spot, central, ideal for a week-end in London
- very expensive compared to the flat standing (only one window that must stay closed due to outdoor noises)
- very hard to get hot water (prepare for cold showers)
I am sorry to hear that Paul had the hot water problem. I tested it when they reported to me and I couldn't find any problem, but informed them that they can use the alternative shower room if needed. As to the comment about one window. It's a room, and one window in a room is common. The window is normally closed in winter and we open it regularly let air in the morning for a short time.
I really enjoyed the stay! The room was exactly as advertised. The hosts were great and very helpful even when I needed their assistance late in the evening. The check-in process was easy and well organized the instructions after booking were very helpful. The location is unbeatable, central to everything. I would highly recommend this to travelers who want to be in this location.
I received a warm welcome from Ms. Yang who checked me in. The room was very clean and well appointed, with everything I needed for a short stay. You really couldn't ask for more from such a great location in central London!
