Hidden from the outside world lies this cabin, in a large city garden in the eastern part of Enschede. It’s 10 minutes by bike to the city center and also to the beautiful countryside. It has it's own entrance path and amenities for work (wifi, small computertable), for cooking and an outside porch for your finest relaxing moments, also in cold and reainy weather. The guest-bathroom is in the main house and accessible from outside. There's free parking in front of the house.

The space
As artists we built this cabin to kindle our inspiration, and this we like to share! It resembles a tiny house in the Great North. Here you can feel how a more primitive way of life can actually be warm and enjoyable - you'll feel like really being away and at home in nature.

The cabin is built with used and vintage materials. It's decorated with matching vintage furnishing, houseware and decorations.
The cabin is heated with an infrared heater. It has electricity, its own WIFI, cold running water and a kitchenette with everything you need for cooking, coffee and tea. We want to inspire our guests to have the best time together, so you'll find lots of little extra's like candles, napkins, oil lamps, board games, playing cards, painkillers or other things you might need. The cabin is tiny (12m2), but through clever interior design it offers several places to relax, even for four people.

Heating and cooling
There’s an electric heater that keeps the place at a comfortable temperature and the cabin is very well insulated. The winter-bedding is very thick and made of down and feathers, just like those in my grandmothers farm. The cabin keeps cool in the summer thanks to the trees - if necessary we offer a small airco.

The porch is surrounded by greens to give you optimal privacy. It has a couch, woolen blankets and a chest with board games and drawing materials.

The kitchenette has cold running water and a water cooker, for dishwashing and tea. Also a gasstove (3 burners), pots and pans, a small fridge and a hair dryer. The bed is dressed with two single duvets (normal ones, and big down-and-feathers for the winter). The sleeping couch offers room for two more guests.

The guest-bathroom is 20 meters from the cabin, It has a double bathtub, a shower cabin, toilet, sink, washing machine (that we also use for our b&b maintenance). The entrance is on the side of the house. There's a chance that you'll share it with two more guests from the yurt, which is behind the cabin. the yellow lights indicate if it's occupied (you can see them from the porch). If necessary, our own bathroom is available as well.

Around the cabin
From the street there's no way of looking into the garden. Our garden is rich of trees and bushes that keep green in the winter, and offers lots to explore. The bushes offer maximal privacy, even on your porch.
In the garden, there's an exta picknick-table and here you can enjoy the pond, the birds, chickens and pheasant or just the general atmosphere. You're welcome to spend the evening in the garden, but only without music (acoustic guitars excepted). Behind the cabin we also have a yurt that we rent out via airbnb.

We offer the following extra's during your stay:
- Cool drinks in a fridge on the premises (1,50 - 4,- ), o.a. soda's, wine and special beers
- a basic free breakfast for 1 night (yoghurt/cruesli) or a luxury breakfast (8,50 euro pp) with fresh buns, fresh orange juice, assorted jams/cheeses, boiled egg, fruit etc.
- bicycles (7,50 pp/pd), they can be rented for the whole day on your arrival- or departure day

bicycles and breakfast are best reserved before you arrive.

Bikes are great for moving in the city or cruising the beautiful Dutch/German countryside. When you book I'll send you a travel guide with tips for the outdoors as well as the city.

Pets and animals
We have chickens and pheasants - the male pheasants will occasionally give its yell. Dogs are very wellcome when on a leesh. If your dog is afraid of chickens, let us know then we keep them inside.

Noise
Our garden is almost like a forest, still it's located in a suburb. The cabin lies next to the fence bordering the street. Neighbors can't see us, but they can hear us - so in the garden we can't play music.
Most guests make remarks how quiet our garden is. Still there may be some noises now and then - our chicken and pheasants, people walking their dog, sometimes a car. Opposite from our street runs a small train once an hour. The tracks lay in a deep ditch and the noise level is relatively low - it sounds like a ghust of wind. We don't hear it anymore, but you might.

If you're interested in renting the Cabin and the Yurt both at the same time, for example when traveling with a larger group, this is possible if you book book well in advance, think of 2 or 3 months (contact me for this).

Guest access
The cabin has its own entrance path. Besides the cabin, you can use the bathroom in the main house and also the washing machine and the microwave in the kitchen. Smoking is allowed outside and on the porch.
You can park for free in front of the house. We have a 3 bikes to rent and in an hour's walk you can roam the city and also the forest-rich estate of Hooge Boekel.

Other things to note
Our accomodation is like an artwork, made to look old, and built with used and vintage materials. We clean it well but we don't remove traces of usage - we consider them as part of the general atmosphere.

We have chickens and feasants, which you'll hear maybe a few times a day. Our chickens often roam around freely in the garden.
Your pet is very welcome, if you guide it well. Please contact me on this before booking, then we make sure the chicken are inside their own fence.
You can gladly spend the evening outside. but we can't have music in the garden (acoustic guitar excepted) and after ten o'clock, the volume needs to be low (thank you).
The inside room of the cabin has a floor size of about 12 m2, the veranda offers about 10 m2 of extra space

Smoking outside is allowed but on the porch only tobacco can be smoked. Other legal substances can be smoked in the garden.

Neighborhood highlights

Velve-Lindenhof is a typical working class neighborhood. Our house is one of the first built in this neighborhood and our garden is big, with large trees. Our neighbors can hear us, but they can't see us. This is also the other way around, when people walk their dog in the street you might sometimes hear them.n ur street is low in motorised traffic and next to a lowered railroad. A small train runs there, in a 10m deep slope, about once an hour - we don't hear it anymore but you might notice it. Above the tracks there are lots of trees, birds, squirrels, owls and other animals. We're close to the city center but also to the beautiful countryside - both are ten minutes by bike away. The gardens and forest of Castle Hooge Boekel can be reached by foot. We're close to the German border and there are great nature reserves around, you'll find them in the 'travel guide' I sent you. We have a few extra bicycles for rent (two male, two female, except for those in repair). Eventually you can hire e-bikes (delivered to the door) at 'AktiefTwente'. Several supermarkets are near and open untill 22.00. In our yurt, city life is near but you can also enjoy nature, full privacy and a unique atmosphere away from the city.

I'm an artist and together with my partner (artist and theatre technician) we turned our garden into a fairy-tale-like small village where we love to be and host our guests, and where our guests can privately enjoy a unique atmosphere. We know the countryside around our house very well and will be happy to tell you about it.
