About this listing
A redwood-floored sun-filled, shuttered bedroom with arched windows and gabled ceiling in a unique 1860s home in Santa Cruz. My unique 'Carpenter Gothic' is one of the earliest houses built by settlers in the mid 19th. century. Both room and
adjacent bathroom (shower, toilet, washbasin) are fully remodelled and immaculately clean on the second floor of my home. The guest room is private, quiet, and
has its own entrance staircase. It also offers panoramic views of the Monterey Bay in one of Santa Cruz's oldest, safest, quietest neighborhoods. Walking distance to downtown through other historic areas. 1/2 acre of mature gardens and an
'orchidarium' surround this unique house on the hill.
The main bus line to UCSC has a stop 3 minutes' walk away; the main terminus is a 15" walk - all downhill! Nearby attractions include the Santa Cruz Mission, its park and
all the old historic downtown replete with Victorian homes a large variety of coffee shops and restaurants. The bus route goes straight up to the UCSC Main campus; the bike ride up the hill takes about 20 minutes and granny gears!

I stayed in Santa Cruz for three days at Caroline's lovely house, and it was just great! Caroline did everything to me me feel comfortable, just like home.
The room was tidy and neat upon my arrival, I wasn't expecting it to be so spacious (same for the bathroom). For me the location was perfect since I was in town for a workshop that took place just one block away from her house. Everything else was very accessible as well (downtown, the beach), I just wish I had more time to be there.
To sum up: great place, great location and specially, great host! Thanks Caroline!

Caroline was so sweet and her home is beautiful! Close to both UCSC and downtown, it was pretty much exactly where we were hoping to stay for our short weekend trip back to Santa Cruz.
The room is very cute (decorated in yellow and white with bee motifs everywhere) and breezy when you open up the large west-facing window. You don't get woken up by eastern light/heat in the morning, too, which was great. The beds (two twins pushed up against each other) were a bit lumpy but definitely not a huge issue.
The bathroom was large and clean; we're first-time AirBnB'ers and didn't know what to do with our towels so we left them folded on the floor like you do at a hotel; hopefully that was OK.
The grounds were so pretty, and Claudius the cat is a character. Very soft and talkative and curious :)
Thanks for hosting us, Caroline.
Caroline's home is the perfect place for anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful place to rest while visiting Santa Cruz. The bedroom was spacious, comfortable and has a wonderful view, and the bathroom was immaculate and gets beautiful light. Caroline was very welcoming and unimposing as a host, her space is conveniently located near the N end of Pacific downtown, just a short walk over the footbridge and past the mission, and sits right along the 10 UC-High St. bus route if you have business on campus. I would recommend her place to anyone planning a visit to Santa Cruz.
Such a beautiful home in a lovely neighborhood. Historic and clean. Private and restful. I enjoyed staying at Caroline's and walking the gardens in several terraced levels. She is helpful and kind in offering tips in the community. I look forward to staying here again.
Caroline was a wonderful host and welcomed us to her amazing home. Her house is absolutely lovely and the location was perfect. Our overall experience was excellent and would definitely stay there again. Thank you Caroline!
