The Space

Easy access to the heart of DC (20-25 min) by car, or you can take a quick bus to the Silver Spring metro station.

Owner cares that guests like their stay so much, they wish to return. She's an encyclopedia of DC knowledge (but will not barrage you with information unless you want it).

NOTE: This room is available only for shorter term guests (one week is usually the max). I have three other rooms in the house, including a huge downstairs suite.

Comfy private bedroom with brand new, incredibly comfy, quality mattress. En suite bathroom with full shower for your private use, along with fresh sheets and towels.

Cable, WIFI and access to elegant kitchen for cooking.

Enjoy a meal on the patio, if you wish, with a lovely water view out back.

There's a loving 20-pound dog named Riley and 40-pound hound/beagle mix named Annie who LIVE to be petted. The dogs are sweet and rarely bark, other than when folks come to the door.

  • It was actually my two girl friends that stayed in Sherri and David's place. We already had booked a room for ourselves when they decided to join us, and Sherri was so nice to accommodate them. The girls were so excited when we picked them up in the morning, they actually didn't stop bragging about the place, the breakfast, Sherri and her hospitality :) Thank you for everything!

  • Sheri is a fabulous host! If you are looking for a comfortable stay in a beautiful, clean house look no further. A kind person, and a great conversationalist full of good advice for those looking to find a permanent home in the DC area. You will feel right at home!

  • It was an absolute pleasure to meet Sherri. She is a wonderful host and goes out of her way to make sure you have a comfortable stay. The room is super nice and the house is in a nice location, although Sherri's place may not be suitable for people allergic to pets / dog hair.

  • We stayed with Sherri for five days while visiting our son. Our experience was fantastic, and Sherri will go beyond any expectation to accommodate any need we had. She has an excellent knowledge of the area and unique things to do and see.
Sherri has a very welcoming home that is beautiful, the beds are comfortable, and if one wants the feel of home while away from their home, this is the place to be. We look forward to returning.

  • This modern, well decorated corner condo is part of a nicely landscaped development in a residential neighborhood of Silver Spring. We rented a large bedroom with a bathroom. In general, everything was clean and of very good quality. Our host called us before we arrived to get our permission to attend her high school reunion. This meant she was gone most of the time we were there, including when we arrived. By arrangement, a hidden key was left for us. A medium-sized dog greeted us; we are not dog lovers, but this dog was exceptionally well behaved and for the most part stayed out of our way (a friend came by to walk the dog). Judging from the maps, brochures and other useful tourist items provided in the room, the room was definitely dedicated to rental, but the storage was not. We phoned the host and got her permission to rearrange her belongings to make space for ours. The WiFi worked well. Once we had settled in, everything was fine.
Our host returned before the end of our stay. Sherri is charming and welcoming. We would certainly recommend this airbnb property to our friends.

  • Looking for a 5 star resort? Keep looking, you won’t find it here Want a great place to stay, with a really cool host and a super cool dog named Riley, this is the place for you (Joe’s portion of the review) (<:
This was our first Airbnb experience and it was great. It took awhile to convince the husband, but once he found that we didn’t have to share a bathroom, he was onboard. We arrived around midnight to a welcoming Sherri and Riley and stayed in room 4, which was exactly as it was pictured. Sherri also had maps, information about the area and points of interest DC, Maryland, VA and Penn State to explore in the room. Although we, came down after we heard everyone having breakfast (we tried to rush, but hey we are not morning people), Sherri offered to make us whatever we wanted for breakfast. We thought that was really nice of her. When I mentioned that I was allergic to scented products and the sheets smelled like flowers, she was quick to replace them. That night, I was able see how other reviewers said the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Although we didn’t get to talk to her for long periods of time, we felt very welcomed and would stay again.

  • I stayed at Sherri's for about three weeks. She is accommodating, as every host should be, helpful, as every guide should be, and a great person, as everyone should strive to be.

Her knowledge of the area is expansive and she was always willing to give me advice and suggestions. At the time I was also looking for a place to live and she gave me helpful suggestions about neighborhoods and various areas.

The house is nice and spacious with a great kitchen. I stayed in the larger room downstairs which had a very comfy bed, sofa, and chaise lounges.

I would highly recommend staying at Sherri's and believe that most airbnb guests would enjoy their stay.

Welcome! PLEASE send a message and wait for my response (which is usually very quick) before sending a reservation request. We have been blessed with a lot of repeat guests so I want to be sure that we can accommodate you before you book. Respectfully, I will not allow pets -- though under the perfect circumstances, I have been known to bend this but ONLY WITH PRIOR PERMISSION. Do NOT show up with an animal without getting permission -- I will have to turn you away! I have two dogs (a shepherd/hound and a dachshund) and this is their home. Thanks! :) The Driving Commute: If you are heading to DC, and allow morning rush hour(s) to subside, it'll take you 25 min. by car to get into the heart of downtown DC. There's metered parking, parking garages, and even some free parking I can alert you about. A lot of driving guests will drive to the Silver Spring metro and park in a garage one block away for about $8.45/day. The Walking Commute: If you are without a car, it's a more daunting task. The bus stop is a 1/2 mile walk uphill (I live in a little valley next to a stream). The bus (Z6 or Z8) takes 20-30 min. to get to the Silver Spring metro station. It's about 30 min. on the train to Metro Center (the heart of the metro system and downtown). So expect at least an hour commute. It takes a while, but it's good for you -- I have had overweight guests lose multiple pants sizes by this handy-dandy exercise routine. :) VITAL: Although we am very kind and friendly, ALL guests in your party MUST be approved before acceptance. Absolutely no outside guests will be allowed to stay here, other than those pre-approved. The happiness and safety of my home, self and other guests is of utmost importance. Thank you so much for respecting this rule. Communicate with us.We are easy to talk to :) If you break or bleed on something, say something as soon as possible -- maybe we can help fix it. If you have problems working something, please ask. I can't fix what I don't know about. I'm human (no, really!) and I'll get my feelings hurt if a guest never says a word that can help me help them, and then airs their concerns in a review once it's too late to accommodate his or her needs. TEMPERATURE: My motto is fresh air whenever possible (usually healthier for you). This house is situated in a valley next to a stream with woods surrounding it, so it is buffered from the weather to some degree. In the summer, I tend to keep the air at around 74-76 and run dehumidifiers for improved air quality/comfort. In the winter, 67-68 at night and 69-73 during the day. If you want to be blasted with frigid a/c in the summer and prefer to walk around in t-shirts in the winter, the Airbnb experience might not be right for you :). That being said, we will do my best to accommodate your needs within reason. THE SKINNY ON US: My newlywed husband, David, and I, are an energetic, fun-loving couple who are very involved with sports (especially hiking, running and volleyball), friends, music (we both sing, and he plays guitar), good conversation, dinner parties, animal rescue, travel and church. We have an insanely high mortgage which we can't refinance currently, and it's kinda' nice to share this large home with kind-hearted, sensible folks in a way that helps to cover the bills :) For guests who are looking to relocate to DC, I am a real estate agent with WC&AN Miller in Bethesda. I am licensed in DC, VA and MD and would be happy to assist you in finding longer-term housing, whether for rental or purchase. I have helped at least a dozen guests to date find their perfect place! I love the trust they place in me. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes to make your stay more comfortable: The high quality beds are fitted with bed-bug protecting covers (we've never had a problem and never plan to), the drinking water is filtered, the beds are comfy (don't believe me? Read the reviews!), and the WIFI is waiting! My mother raised me to "leave others better than you found them." It is our sincere hope and commitment that our guests realize this during their stay at this beautiful home. The hundreds of guests who've stayed here in the past five years--and the high number of repeat visitors--tells me that we must be doing something right!
