I am taking a winter break from Airbnb. I will consider starting up in the peak season sometime in May or June I heat the house w/ woodburning stove, so for many guests, that can be complicated. I will update my listing with new features and pics
This is a single family home. It is a lovely romantic get away. It is beautifully decorated with an exotic theme. There is a medium sized kitchen, living room, dining room and bath. The landscape of the front yard has a Spiral Healing Garden.. you are invited to enter the spiral aromatic herb walk. At end there are river rocks for you to enjoy a foot reflexology massage. There is a small water feature in front. The backyard has fountain, two redwood trees and an outdoor eating area. There is also a pizza oven in the shape of Pachamama (mother nature). Use of this oven is an option and usually best for large parties (of 10 ore more) since the preheat wood fire takes 2 hours to heat. Upon request. We offer massage, guided hikes, wine tasting tips and favorites. The spa is available with massage booking. Private use of the hot tub requires a $250 security deposit) Our spa / vacation rental is a unique destination for those non traditional travelers who would like to mix more with the local scene. Your host has lived in the Valley for over 20 years. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood on the west side of Sonoma. (1 1/2 miles to the downtown area) In the neighborhood there is a park within walking distance and bike trails to the downtown area. One block away there is a cafe and a small sports bar with driving range. Our reception area is stocked with current events, brochures and menus of local restaurants. We have WiFi and cable!
Our place is unique as we are tucked away on the west side of town in a quiet neighborhood just far enough from the tourist and downtown area. Unlike any house in the area, it is a private sanctuary. Retreat to an exotic oasis in the backyard with the relaxing sound of the fountain... enjoy the spa with a massage.
This house is semi private as there is a renter living in the front part of the house with their own private entrance. She is a mature middle aged student (hearing impaired) Very quiet lady who is a long time friend of the family. You will probably never see her during your stay here. However, she is a very kind sweet person.
Teitzah was an amazing host and was available via text for questions pretty much our whole trip. She knows a lot about the area and really knows how to make you feel like a local. The house is so welcoming and relaxing. Every nook and cranny has so much personality and everything is set up so well that you fall in love with the space almost immediately. She had ready for us a local fresh baguette and the most amazing cheese made locally in Petaluma. There was even a fresh coconut in the fridge with some grapes that we immediately dug into.
The best part? The backyard! The backyard is pure magic. The minute you step out you feel like you have entered a small oasis of tranquility and serenity. The water fountain sounds will lull you into such a pleasant afternoon nap under the trees. The swing chair instantly calms you and releases any stress. And the large deck area was perfect for the most amazing couple massage ever! Nothing beats an outdoor massage and Teitzah was kind enough to find another massage therapist so my husband and i could get our treatment at the same time and next to each other.
The only downside was the cold temperatures in the morning and at night but that was due to the time of the year we visited. We could have had her turn on the heater in the hallway but it wasn't that big of a deal so we dealt with it using cozy blankets and sweaters.
We loved Sea of Bamboo and hope to come back again next year!
We got delayed by traffic and some wrong turns, but Tietzah patiently helped us find our way over the phone and welcomed us in person. It was really wonderful to have the whole house to ourselves, and it was the most rejuvenating weekend I've had in months. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.
Me and my husband stayed at this place. And its just amazingly was relaxing. No words! We had real retreat at the Place! Highly recommend it! If you need yo get away from your usual routine. Plus i had the most amazing massage from Tizziah. She has super nice persanality! And i will definitely come back to have a massage. Thank you sp much. It was most unusual pleasant stay ever i had.
Thank Altana... I really enjoyed meeting ou and Jim. Thank you for giving yourself the time to enjoy a massage and the spa. I know you wanted to get another massage before you went home... Wish I could have been able o fit you in... It's that busy time of year here in the valley. Next weekend there is a Harvest Festival downtown Sonoma .. If you want to come back up, we can schedule time for a massage in he near future.
We enjoyed our stay albeit it was a short one. The house was clean and tidy, enjoyed the space both inside and out. The shower head was quite low on the wall for two tall guys. Although it is a lovely property and I'd recommend it we thought it was on the rather pricey side for what you got. But overall good experience,
Teitzah's house of bamboos is kind of a magic place and Teitzah, a wonderful host. Besides, as a person who's been in the valley for sometime, she offers valuable tips, which made us get to know some of Sonoma's most beautiful attractions, without wasting time on research. Driving around, by the way , is no waste of time at all, but a fun and inwards experience. Oh, at the end of a day exploring the valley, Teitzah's massage is exactly what one needs to totally relax and jump into the region's natural mood. We loved it all. Thank you Teitzah.
My best friend and I had been wanting to visit the Sonoma/Napa area for some time and recently decided to take the plunge and plan trip. We didn't really want to stay in a hotel so we started looking for options on Airbnb. After looking through many listings we found and booked the Sea of Bamboo. Teitzah was great by accommodating an early check in for us on our arrival day. She was so warm and welcoming when we arrived and provided such nice treats for us. The cottage is in the perfect location (less than 10 minutes from Sonoma Square) in a great, quiet little neighborhood. I will say the the cottage definitely has character and it was great sitting out on the back deck each morning and evening enjoying the peaceful surroundings. One of the most interesting features is the pizza oven in the back! I've never seen anything like that ever and my friend and I got such a kick out it. The place was so clean and her memory foam couch is the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on in my life. We had such a wonderful experience in Sonoma and staying at the cottage is a memory we'll have forever. Thank you so much Teitzah for opening up your lovely retreat to us!
Sea of Bamboo Retreat is an amazing oasis of peace Located in the best area of Sonoma. The outdoor space is unique with a great hot tub and lovely space to enjoy meals. Extremely confortable bed.
Teitzah is a great host.
I could only recommend this home and can't wait to come back soon
The Sea of Bamboo provided the tranquil, peaceful retreat my friends and I were looking for. Teitzah was away the weekend of our arrival and seamlessly made sure her friend was there to welcome us and show us around. Upon our arrival we were greeted with bread, cheese, apricots, and mint infused water, and we were in awe of the beautiful home and yard. Teitzah shared her restaurant and vineyard suggestions, and we visited and immensely enjoyed all of them! I cannot wait to return, and plan on recommending The Sea of Bamboo to anyone traveling to Sonoma. Thank you Teitzah!!!!
Teitzah and her home were so wonderful! The Sea of Bamboo is so tranquil and peaceful. It is a beautiful home, very nicely decorated, and the backyard is just breathtaking.
We also got massages from Teitzah -- you should definitely get one too if you love massages! She was great and even went out of her way to find a second massage therapist so we could both get massages at the same time.
Nice added touch: there was a goody bag with breakfast and some wine for us in the fridge =]

The Sea of Bamboo provided the absolute perfect setting for a weekend getaway for my husband and I to celebrate our 2-year anniversary. Teitzah was an extremely accommodating hostess - she struck the perfect balance of providing us with a warm and thorough welcome while at the same time allowing us to get right to unwinding from a long work week and settling into our mini-escape. We arrived somewhat later than we'd hoped on Friday evening due to traffic, and Teitzah refreshed our arrival with chilled, mint-infused water, fresh grapes, and some tasty treats from a local bakery. She provided a thorough tour and easily referenced information sheet then left us to relax and rest. The house and property itself are gorgeous and completely relaxing - "retreat" really is an extremely accurate term for the ambiance. During our time there, we were able to take advantage of much the house had to offer, including the extensive backyard by relaxing on the porch swing and soothing tired muscles in the hot tub - a dry sauna was also available, even though we didn't use it. Teitzah's communication both before and after arrival was very responsive and informative, and we greatly appreciated feeling like we could contact her for anything during our stay if need be. She even recommended a few wineries and eateries when we asked her if she had any suggestions, and those of her "picks" that we were able to make it to were fabulous, including a winery and a coffee shop. All in all, Teitzah and her home provided us with exactly what we had hoped for and we would highly recommend it, especially for other couples looking for a relaxing experience. We definitely plan to return and/or to refer our family and friends!
