Jason was really helpful with any questions we had and kindly let us keep our bags in the store room while we completed volcano boarding! The room was comfy and clean and the garden is a great place to chill out.
My husband and I enjoyed staying at Harvest House for the last few days of our 2 week tour of Nicaragua. Jason is a great host. He was very approachable when we had questions about the house or navigating the city. Most of the guests at the house are there for longer term stays (several weeks or more) so it had the warmth of a community/family (as well as some of the dysfunction :) . We were grateful for the community kitchen which is kept clean and well stocked with pots, pans, and other kitchen gadgetry. The rooms are simple but clean. It is an old house, that Jason is doing a great job restoring, but it is still an old house. Electricity was consistent, but there were some times when we weren't able to use water, which overall wasn't that much of an inconvenience. The garden space is beautiful and relaxing.
My boyfriend and I began a 2 week trip in Nicaragua with a stay at Jason's property. It was a neat experience. Understanding that this is an old Nicaraguan property, the room was simple but sufficient; well maintained but not shiny and new. The property felt very secure and we had fun bumping into other travelers/residents in the communal areas. Jason was very friendly and laid back. He gave us tips on the area and readily answered our questions. We enjoyed that his place is a little away from most of the Leon hostels and still very conveniently located within easy walking distance of the heart of town. The cool Colonial style of the property and great back garden were neat elements to enjoy.
I only stayed in Harvest House for 2 days. Nice friendly place where the long stay guests make you really feel welcome!
The reservation was canceled 11 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Friendly and welcoming place! The communal kitchen is a nice way to meet other travelers.
We both loved our stay at the harvest house. Jason was beyond helpful, even with him being out of the country... The only downfall of our stay was not getting to meet and thank him. Clean room, with the necessities you need- right at the garden-where we spent a lot of time.
The location in itself was perfect to us as everything we wanted to do was within walking distance.
James was fantastic and always a joy to talk to! Would highly recommend.

Well, I'm a very very laid back guy. I enjoy getting up in the morning for some lovely Nicaraguan coffee and relaxing in my terrace for some quite time. My wife and I take care of the house with the help of some cleaning ladies. We love traveling Nicaragua and meeting all kinds of new people. I enjoy building relationships with my guest and helping them get around Nica and such. Some of us go out to eat together often or join together for a big meal. We also travel to neat destinations to enjoy the beauty of Nica.
I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina and then moved to Washington DC to chase the American Dream, but after 6 years realized being trapped in work meant no freedom. A few years ago I visited Nicaragua to volunteer my time. After that I kept returning to help and then decided to come long term and fell in love, got married and we have a little baby girl and here we stay!
Harvest House Nicaragua serves many purposes and I hope you come and stay!
