Interaction with Guests
I live here also, work full time as a Physical Therapist. I enjoy playing tour guide and have memberships at several museums. I enjoy the performing arts and can advise you how to obtain "rush" tickets to events. I swim for exercise and am familiar with every swimming pool and health club in the city if you want to take an exercise or spa break. I also appreciate that many guests are seasoned travelers and / or are familiar with San Francisco, and respect your independence and privacy: whatever you prefer.
You can walk to the beach, coastal trail, Land's End Lookout, Golden Gate Park, secret shortcut to the Palace of Legion of Honor Museum, and an array of restaurants and services. The scenic, world famous Cliff House and local favorite Pacific Cafe are within a few blocks. Enjoy casual breakfast, lunch or early dinner and panoramic views at Historic Louis' diner. Lincoln Park golf course is practically in my "back yard." Balboa Street, a few blocks away boasts a cinema and an array of neighborhood cafes and services.
There are many bus routes nearby. The most convenient is the 38 Geary--stops beside my driveway and connects to just about anywhere. It operates 24 hours a day and goes directly to Union Square and Financial District. Use the "L" limited for fewer stops or the "E" express during rush hours if you need to cross town faster. You can also hitch a free ride on the UCSF shuttle from the VA hospital, 1 block away--to access other UCSF campuses and neighborhoods.
Other Things to Note
Please the see my "guidebook" (click the icon above) for a list of favorite places in San Francisco. I also keep maps, guidebooks, local magazines, Zagat Guide, and brochures about current arts and entertainment (see the music stand) for your reference and use.
I can often accommodate your request for check in / out time variations, but may need to store your luggage in my locked office in case of a same day "turn over". No unauthorized overnight guests. To maintain an allergy free environment, no pets. No smoking anywhere on the premises including the driveway or gardens. This is the lower "flat" (full floor residence with its own address and private front door) in a 2 unit condominium. Compliance with Home Owner's Association by-laws is required. This entails mostly common sense and courtesy. I reserve the right to enter your room for cleaning, maintenance, or repairs, and will provide 48 hours notice except in an emergency.
Melanie is a great host. She is very welcoming and accommodating. The house is warm and cozy and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in her home. She helped make my first trip to San Francisco smooth and peaceful. She treated me more like a friend than just a guest. If I am ever in the area again, I would be happy to stay here. Thank you Melanie!
Stayed with Melanie during the month of January and so enjoyed my time there. Melanie couldn't have been more gracious, generous and helpful. The apartment is lovely as described and provides guests with a comfortable, peaceful place to relax at the beginning and end end of the day (and any other time as well). Really felt like my home away from home. There are many beautiful walks nearby, including the historic Sutro Baths, coastal trails high and low, as well as walks through the less-developed western side of Golden Gate Park. Enjoyed them all. I purchased a Clipper Pass this trip and traveled around San Francisco by bus during most of my visit, which was really easy. Rarely waited more than five minutes for a bus on Geary, which is a short block away. From Geary there are endless connections to other parts of the city. There's a Walgreen's across the street from Melanie's, which is well-stocked with miscellaneous supplies and groceries--comes in handy. Other commercial areas are within walking distance, but not as convenient. Would recommend Melanie's accommodations to anyone without hesitation. Thanks so much, Melanie. Hope to return soon.
We had a good experience. Melanie was a very gracious hostess, allowing us to check in early. Her home is nice and the room comfortable. Thanks!
Always feel very welcome at Melanie's place. Listing is accurate, and it is one of the best airbnb places I have ever stayed at.
We both loved our stay with Melanie. She greeted us warmly with an offer of wine or tea as we chatted. Our room was lovely with a very comfortable mattress, down comforter and pillows and great task lighting. The bathroom is great with wonderful towels and high end shampoo and conditioner as well as a great shower and a beautiful sink and tile. The little touches like a place to put our toiletry kits, a wedged back pillow for reading on the bed, yummy chocolate and sparkling water made for a delightful stay and a great two night's rest. Melanie's apartment is quiet, peaceful and interesting and the breakfast of delicious homemade granola (the best we've ever had), yogurt and gingerbread cookies was just what we needed to start the day. Parking was convenient and we enjoyed the neighborhood. We spent our day walking on the Coastal Trail and eating lunch at the Cliff House. Melanie gave us a great recommendation for dinner and when we return we will definitely stay with Melanie again.
I stayed three nights and petty much echo what other's have already said. The room was really well done, with nice touches throughout; it was like having a personal suite to come home to after a long day. Melanie is a warm, caring host who made me feel welcomed with nice chocolate and sparkling water. Probably the nicest Air BnB
stay I've had yet. Highly recommend
From the coastal trail maps and regional guides to the chocolate treats and delicious home-made granola, Melanie goes the extra mile to create a welcoming environment for her guests. She was the perfect host: engaging and informative about what to do and see in the local area, pleasantly conversant, attentive to our needs, and respectful of our privacy. Her condo, ideally perched on a quiet street corner a few blocks from Lands End, was clean, well-kept, cheerful, and thoughtfully decorated as portrayed in the photos. We highly recommend staying with Melanie and hope that we ourselves are able to do so again the next time we visit the Bay Area. Thank you Melanie for an enjoyable stay.
I love living in San Francisco and enjoy playing tour guide or concierge, and have some flexibility with my busy schedule as a Physical Therapist. I enjoy everything from urban or scenic walks to the Opera, Jazz, Symphony, Ballet, Art openings, etc. I have lived in San Francisco over 30 years, and am most at home here, although I treasure the opportunity to travel and experience other cultures. This enchanting city is like an artichoke, with many layers to explore before you reach the heart.
