A simple yurt with a custom clear ceiling for a full view of the vast open skies. Gaze upon the stunning starry nights and fall asleep under the moonlight. Experience the peace and tranquility on top of a hill in the middle of an open field surrounded by wild flowers and nature's bounty in complete privacy.

'With Freedom, books, flowers, and the moon, who could not be Happy?' - Oscar Wilde

The space
Please note the yurt has a full sized bed, and there's also a cushion chair that can be unfolded into a twin sized bed. There's also plenty of floor cushions to cozy up in a "corner". This is a four season yurt -- in the fall and winter, the wood burning stove keeps you toasty -- and in the spring and summer, the insulation wall and canvas is removed and replaced with outdoor fabrics, to feel the refreshing breeze and hear the sounds of nature.

I enjoy hugging trees in my spare time, so this is an environmentally responsible property. The yurt is equipped with a solar powered system for lighting and charging USB devices. The bathroom is an outhouse behind the yurt, with a Nature's Head self-contained composting toilet (designed by a Navy veteran) -- which requires everyone (both males and females) to sit on to take care of business. There’s also a solar powered USB charging station in the outhouse. The outdoor shower area is under the ‘Trees of Heaven’, with a 5 gal. solar camp shower bag (spring/summer) or a handheld shower with a 5 gal. bucket (fall/winter), surrounded by bamboo privacy walls under open sky. Note that only biodegradable soap and shampoos are permissible (which are provided). 15-20 gal. of fresh potable well water are provided in containers for your use (and refillable upon request). There is a fire pit with two over-the-fire grills for campfire cooking, as well as an outdoor gas fired camp stove.

A gem of a quiet farmland neighborhood in charming Hudson Valley, with modern conveniences -- 24 hour supermarket, restaurants, diners, gas stations etc. -- only a few miles away. Pick-your-own farms all around (for just about everything ie. apples, peaches, blueberries, sunflowers) and great local dairy ice cream shop close by. Great trails nearby for hiking, as well as cultural and historical attractions. Any particular interests or questions in mind, please don't hesitate to ask!

During your stay

The yurt is in the back field a couple hundred yards beyond my house, however I respect the privacy of my guests. I enjoy meeting people and making new friends, so generally I like to check my guests in personally and give a quick tour to make sure you settle in comfortably and have everything you need to have an enjoyable, relaxing stay. Thereafter, I wouldn't be in the back unless something is needed, but I'd be available and respond to Airbnb message, text, phone call, email, flute, drum, bird call sounds etc.!
