The Space

This house is set amidst a garden full of fruit trees, organic veggies and flowers, and several giant redwoods. It is situated in the very walkable and friendly Santa Rosa Junior College neighborhood, with numerous restaurants and coffee shops in walking distance, and is not too far from the ocean and redwood forests. There is a fully equipped spacious kitchen, (with a water filter) ready for you to use, and there are a variety of places inside and outside the house to enjoy your meal or coffee/tea. The redwood trees keep the house cool on hot days, and there are also powerful ceiling fans in the guest room and the kitchen. We are close to public transit and many bike trails, and you are welcome to park your bicycle in the bicycle shed (recycled from an old barn) and/or your car in the street in front of the house.

A lot of care has been put into creating a safe, healthy and peaceful home that I hope you will enjoy. There are hardwood floors made from sustainably harvested wood, and the walls are painted with natural, homemade clay paints.
While here, you are welcome to relax in the sun by the veggie and flower garden, or under the shade of the redwood or fruit trees, and enjoy the bounty of the garden.

If you are planning on biking, a neighbor/friend will give a 10% discount on bike rentals to my guests. His company is called Bike Partners.

Happy travels!

p.s. please check out the house "rules" section regarding synthetic/chemical fragrances before booking. Thanks!

Guest Access

Guests have access to the entire house, front yard, back yard, vegetable and herb gardens, and all of the fruit trees.

Interaction with Guests

When home, I am often available to answer questions and/or chat. I am also very respectful of people's privacy and recognize that some people enjoy a quiet environment during their travels. When I am not home (which happens a lot, as I am pretty busy), guests are welcome to call me with any needs or questions. Additionally, my next door neighbors love to meet my guests, and help them out with any additional suggestions of what to do in the area, or anything else.

The Neighborhood

My neighborhood is amazing. So many beautiful and unique front yards, in a very walkable, friendly community.

Getting around

We have convenient public transit. And a person can walk to downtown, and/or to nearby cafes restaurants and markets. This area is extraordinarily bike able.

Other Things to Note

House is air-conditioned naturally by huge redwood trees towering above it. Additionally, there are powerful ceiling fans in the guest room and kitchen.

  • Had a lovely stay at Julie's place. My partner and I stayed for just under 2 weeks and had absolutely no issues. Great location close to downtown and a lovely relaxing home and garden.

  • The moment we walked into Julie's garden oasis, we felt at home. Julie was warm and welcoming, and I felt an instant connection to her, having similar values and lifestyle (simple, organic, natural). The bed was super comfortable, the kitchen was equipped with necessities, garden was full of ripe plums and the location was perfect - central and convenient location yet in a quiet and safe residential neighborhood. We were very fortunate and were grateful to have found this place during our visit to Santa Rosa. Julie's home is definitely one of our top favorite places we have found and stayed on airbnb!

  • We really enjoyed Julie's home. She went to great effort to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Really nice setting in quiet neighborhood. Her house has some BIG redwoods on the lot that are really worth it. Overall great value!

  • My stay was short (one night) as I was bridging the gap between a week long retreat ending Monday morning and my flight Tuesday morning. The room/house was very peaceful and pleasant in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood. Prior to my arrival Julie was very helpful and kind in preparing me for the visit and offering suggestions on how to spend time between the ending of my retreat and check-in. The room was very comfortable and felt very welcoming. My only wish is that I had more time to enjoy the garden/yard.

    Response from Julie:

Thanks Derek! The garden/yard will be here for you next time you are in town.

  • Julie's house is a garden oasis. It is very convenient for down town and is in a quiet neighbourhood. Julie left me to my own devices at first but chatted with me later on. She is friendly, helpful and generous. I would definitely want to stay at her place again.

  • I had a wonderful stay at Julie’s. The room was clean and comfortable and Julie graciously extended the other areas of her home for my use. I used the kitchen for preparing breakfast and tea and enjoyed the living room and back yard for hanging out, reading, and writing. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and Julie is passionate and active in contributing to a healthy environment everywhere she goes. I recommend Julie’s space and hope to return again myself.

  • Julie's place was exactly what we needed. It was clean and comfortable and inviting. Unfortunately we didn't get to spend much time with Julie as we were in town for just one quick night, but we felt totally welcomed and fine coming and going as we pleased.

  • Julie's a swell host. This was my second stay at her cozy place. Warm and comfy, convenient. Just right.
