A modern, rustic treehouse cabin with a gorgeous, rural setting between a mill pond and a river. Come for simple living and a slower pace of life in a cool space with pretty views at the tree canopy level. Stilt House is interior designed, full of light and you just need to open the big windows to hear the sound of the river running by. Cosy woodburner for cooking and heating, stoked with unlimited logs. Ideal for those looking for upmarket glamping or cool treehouse stays.

The space
If you’ve always wanted to stay in a treehouse or a cabin, but you also want gorgeous interiors, a proper shower and flushing loo, then the Stilt House is for you. This rural hideaway is a super cool studio with contemporary design inside and out. Expect loads of light, stylish interiors, pretty views from every window, dreamy bed linen, a cosy woodburner and the relaxing sounds of the river flowing by.

The Stilt House is a totally unique treehouse cabin. It’s the result of a complete renovation project from a former artist’s studio, built on stilts. Completed in 2020, the treehouse is now insulated, double-glazed, larch-clad with a tin-roof. It's beautiful as well as practical with a wonderful Esse Bakeheart woodburning stove to give heat and also for cooking and baking.

DESCRIPTION OF THE SPACE: LIVING-COOKING-DINING-SLEEPING
Ascend the timber stairs to the entrance of the Stilt House where you can leave boots and hang coats. Inside, the space is roomy for a single or a couple, and cosy for an extra guest or two!

The Esse Bakeheart woodburning stove is in the corner next to the kitchen, it will keep you very cosy, even when temperatures drop low. It's also the best spot for cooking - use the top as a hob and there is an oven at the bottom. We provide unlimited logs which you can top up as needed. You'll find the bespoke, rustic kitchen to be compact but very well equipped. We provide all cutlery, crockery, glasses, pots, pans, implements, knives, chopping boards and even oil, salt, pepper and eco washing up liquid. A small fridge is provided. You'll aslo find an extra electric hob to bring out as needed. The sink has hot water available as needed.

Comfy seating is provided with a sofa bed and a pouff, with a Moroccan rug underfoot. This living area has windows which perfectly frame the view out to the mill pond. There is nothing more relaxing than watching wild ducks pootling about from the comfort of your cabin.

The dining area has a good sized table with four chairs, and views out to the river. Plenty of space for puzzles, board games, drawing and of course eating.

The built-in bed has a super comfy king size mattress with incredibly dreamy white linens, and extra blankets. You'll have space to stowaway your belongings with a chest of drawers, cabinet and space under the bed for bags. Handy plugs and USB charge points, as well as decent mobile phone signal, will mean you can stay connected as you like.

WC AND SHOWER
Back down the steps, and across about 20m of grass, you will find the private shower & WC for Stilt House. This pristine shower room is not your average "glamping standard". We also provide gorgeous fluffy towels, hand soap, body wash, lotion, shampoo and conditioner.

I am always available to help my guests, and like to say "hello" when you arrive. After that, I will usually leave you to enjoy your stay in peace unless you come to me for help with something. I always provide my phone number, and you are also welcome to knock on the door of my house too. I'm very happy to you around Dod Mill, chat about it's history or let you help me with feeding the sheep in the winter months. I am a bit of a foodie so always happy to share tips on where to eat out, where to go for coffee etc!
