About This Listing
Unique, enormous (1500 sq ft,) fully furnished 4 bedroom / 1 bathroom loft apartment with lots of light and a huge communal roof deck located in the heart of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Each of the 4 bedrooms have queen or full sized mattresses, a desk, dresser and clothing rack. The rooms are quite large even by New York standards, each at least 150 sq ft.
Max capacity for sleeping is 10 people (2 in each bed + 2 on air mattress.) Please keep in mind that you'll be sharing one bathroom.
Large common areas are quite cozy with couches, stereo, movie projector, Apple TV, large work table and wireless internet.
Kitchen is fully equipped and there's coin-operated laundry in the building, but also a drop-off laundry and dry cleaner just around the corner.
The apartment is located one block from Fort Greene park and is a close walk to an array of subway lines that will get you in to the city. It's about 20-25 min from the front door to Union Square. But, while you're in Fort Greene you'll have tons of choice when it comes to restaurants, bars, groceries and other amenities.
Located just two blocks from 'restaurant row' on DeKalb Avenue where you'll have plenty of choices to eat or grab a drink. On weekends the neighborhood is teeming with fresh locally made food and goods at the farmers market (2 blocks,) the Brooklyn Flea (4 blocks) and the Dekalb Market (10 blocks.) There are also three grocery stores within a ten minutes walk and two organic markets within a 5 minute walk (both on Myrtle Ave.) The kitchen is fully equipped, so staying in to cook and then eating on the roof deck is a great option.
The two closest subway stations are Lafayette on the C train and DeKalb on the B/Q/R line. Both are about a ten minute walk. You can also catch the 2/3/4/5 at Nevins and the A/C/(email hidden). which are both about a 15 min walk or a catch the B38 and B54 bus - each runs right through the neighborhood and will connect you with a subway in downtown Brooklyn.
Thanks for you interest.
Guests have unrestricted, exclusive access to the entire flat and shared access to the roof.
Interaction with Guests
We'll meet when you arrive and then the place is yours to enjoy. However, I'm easily reachable in the event of any kind of issue or request. Please don't hesitate to address concerns if you need something.
My flat is in a residential building so I expect guests to respect my neighbors. It's pretty laid back, but basically no parties. Flat is ideal for families, business travelers or groups looking for a base from which to see New York.
Only other rules are no smoking and shoes off at the front door.
The apartment is big and spacy, and the Fort Green neighborhood is very cozy, with everything you need near by. We traveled a big family with children so the near by park was also a great asset. Anthony is a great host. Very responsive, with good advise, before and during our stay. And the few minor problems we had, were solved very quickly. Only minor drawback may be that the apartment is pretty warm in hot weather, but a small trade off for that beautifull roof terrace, one flight of stairs up.

anthony was really communicative and helpful before and during our stay. He even nicely allowed us to stay until 5 pm the day of our check out.
the flat was really convenient for our group.
everybody can have his own room and the living room is really nice and big.
thanks a lot for having us, we spent a so nice time at your place.
We couldn't have asked for a better time at Anthony's!
Grwat location close to subway stops, restaurants, coffee shops (our favourite was WTF coffee on Willoughby street, just around the corner), 20 minutes on the subway to the Rockefeller centre.
Large living area and 4 good sized rooms - great for groups or family's.
Close to williamsburg which is one of the best borough of nyc. 5 min cab ride!
Thanks for letting us stay and feel like a true New Yorker!
Great spot for a group to stay. Very comfortable and functional. It was like having our own home in NYC. The space was beautiful with simple and comfortable beds, nice private bedrooms, dishwasher, close to lots of restaurants.
Anthony was a great host in that there were no hick-ups.
An amazing and well designed open space in the beautiful Fort Greene area. One end fo the street - near the corner of Myrtle feels a little rougher late at night, but the rest of the area felt very safe, friendly and is full of nice bars and restaurants. The loft was very comfortable and an easy 10-15 minute walk to a number of subways stations. Stayed here with three colleagues on a work trip and found it an easy location to get back and forth into Midtown and a comfortable base to return to each evening. And the view from the rooftop is worth checking out. Our host Anthony was very responsive when needed. Thanks for a great stay!
We had the best time in Anthony's apartment and I highly recommend it as a base for your trip to New York. The apartment is exactly as described but even better in real life - the space, the light, the furniture - I absolutely loved it! Everything worked and given that we were a group of 5 (with big personalities) there was always enough room and hot water etc. to make our stay really comfy. The beds were comfy but if you have any allergies (feathers) then maybe bring your own pillow. The bathroom is very basic and the shower is a long way off a power shower but that sort of thing is just not so high on our list and it was more than adequate. The location is perfect!!!! We made good use of the subway (meant to leave a map behind but totally forgot) and found De Kalb less than 10 minutes walk away perfect for the places we wanted to go. Anthony's apartment is near everything - from coffee and bagels to mani pedis!!! The neighbourhood is amazing and if you do have a car it's free to park on the street?!?! Like where else does that happen? Some of my group feel the apartment was a bit expensive but personally I think that's a matter of opinion based on how many of you are in the group - it would easily accommodate 6-8 people which makes it really affordable. The lift is great but the stairs are easy and a good way to combat the bagels…..!!! Anthony was very helpful, before and during our stay and I would gladly book this home again. I wish you a fantastic trip to New York and hope you have a great a time as we did.

About the Host, Anthony
I'm an architect and professor living in Brooklyn, NY. I moved to Fort Greene in 2004 for graduate school at Pratt, found a great place and have been here since. Fort Greene is a creative and diverse neighborhood with a lot of places to eat, drink and shop for fresh food - so I love it here. Starting a small design practice focused on built and spec projects in New York City.
I'm pretty well traveled - have lived abroad in The Netherlands and Italy form which I visited most of Europe. I've also traveled extensively in the United States (44 out of 50 states!) I hope to do another cross country trip in the US soon and would also love to spend some time in Buenos Aries, Sicily and Southeast Asia.
I read a lot, am a huge Radiolab fan, play ice hockey and love improv comedy.
Excellent selection of wines and liquor. Service couldnt be friendlier and prices are reasonable.Myrtle Avenue NY 11205
Closest chain supermarket to the flat. Good produce, and decent prices on basics like milk, juice, eggs, etc. Otherwise the selection trends toward national, big brand choices.Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn NY 11205
Red Lantern Bicycles doubles as a coffee shop and its on point. Colin, Bradford and Joel are excellent barista. Shop has a bit of a punk vibe, which is refreshing for this part of BK.Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn NY 11205
Their coffee is seriously good but they have the worst service. Decent spot to sit outside on a nice day though, so occasionally I make an exception.Carlton Avenue NY 11205

South African Bistro - great food, a bit pricey, but always a scene, especially in good weather.Dekalb Avenue NY 11205-4005
Second closest market to the flat offers a much nicer selection of organic foods. Produce is decent, fruit is not so god for some reason. Large beer selection. Open 24 hours, which is a plus.Myrtle Avenue NY 11205
Excellent Sushi. I often order delivery from here because their dining room is a bit bland. No worries though, food is excellent.Dekalb Avenue NY 11205
Insanely good falafel / kebab restaurant. Best value in the neighborhood. Its BYOB though.Dekalb Avenue NY 11205-4043
More of a traditional take on Italian food - excellent ingredients, reasonable prices.Dekalb Avenue NY 11205-4043
Best produce and fruit in the neighborhood. Open 24 hours. Kind of small otherwise, but they have good beer selection and a nice selection of organic foods.Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn NY 11205
If youre familiar with Marlowe and Sons and Diner in Williamsburg youll like this spot. Its their take on gourmet Italian food, locally sourced seasonal menu. Excellent cocktails.Dekalb Avenue New York NY 11205
Definition of a local bar, feels kind of LA. Good comedy on Thurs nights. Nice patio for day drinking on the weekend.Myrtle Avenue New York NY 11205
Probably the best bar in the neighborhood, but its seriously a dive. Disclaimer - my opinion is wrought with nostalgia for a time when Fort Greene wasnt so hip. Its authentic and unpretentious.Dekalb Avenue Brooklyn NY 11205
