Amenities include wireless internet access, cable tv entertainment, access and use of the kitchen. Feel free to bask in the sun in the 1 acre garden. We have 2 nice alfresco outdoor patios for you to enjoy your morning's breakfast or mid-afternoon tea, quiet reading or just watching nature quietly. . . WE have a bar on the patio for you to relax with your drinks. We have a speaker system built around the patio that you can use to play music.
Would appreciate if you could provide some details when enquiring. What is your profession ? Is there just one guest or two guests? What time is your arrival into Singapore ?
No smoking inside rooms.
One word: wow!
The quiet cottage stay was what we wanted simple quiet and rustic nature living. Such a stark contrast from the hustle n bustle of busy Singapore. The colonial house transported us to a more relaxed kampung (village) living n the area is bursting with lovely nature walks n hikes. Out host Eve is such a lovely person n she will advise you on what to do where to eat over cocktails. We miss the house n the dogs too! Thank you so much Eve for owning your home to us.
This cottage is in heaven. Try to imagine that You live inside the central park New York. Because this property is inside a very huge park in Singapore in the middle of a very huge garden. The owner of the house is Evelyn, who is a wonderful Lady, with deep spirit and a beautiful sense of hospitality. The cottage was super clean and cosy, the breakfasts and all the meals, what Eve served to us, were outstanding. The location is very very extraordinary, we will definitely go back to this heaven. Thank You Eve!!!
Wow! Both Evelyn and her place are amazing! From the moment we arrived we were welcome and felt at home. We had G&T's on the deck at sundown and went for walks with her two gorgeous dogs. Evelyn also took us out to some amazing food markets! I would, and have recommended Evelyn's place to my friends and family. Think of huge trees, park-like lawns and gardens, beautifully restored old officers quarters, amazing birdlife, squirrels and don't forget: it's QUIET! The accommodation is very comfortable, clean and spacious with plenty of pillows and towels on hand. We stayed in an en-suite room. We are light sleepers and it was a relief to know that we wouldn't be woken up by other guests stomping past our room and slamming doors at random hours. We've stayed in Singapore a number of times and usually in hotels, and none of them can deliver the home-away-from-home feeling that we felt at Evelyn's. In this case, the old saying is true: we arrived as strangers and left as friends.
I arrived to be met by two super friendly huge dogs and Eisha, Evelyn's wonderful helpful helper.
The house is exactly as I imagined it - a beautiful 'black and white' government owned historical house. Very rare in Singapore.
The bed was comfortable and the breakfast superb. I highly recommend this house for anyone looking for a more authentic experience.
A slice of heaven. We had spent a few days in a typical mid level hotel in central Singapore, no complaints but they do all look and feel the same. I had been checking out airbnb looking for something different for our last night. Evelyn's place was the highlight of our stay in Singapore. Set on the grounds of the old English officers compound, the bungalow is surrounded by 1930's style homes and tropical gardens. We sat and had lunch on the veranda watching squirrels and kingfishers do their thing and I felt like I had come up for air for the first time in days. If you are looking for total seclusion and privacy I would not necessarily recommend this place. Evelyn is a delightful host and has a swirl of friends that are full of great tips on the best places to go and secret eating spots only known to the locals. The room was basic but comfortable, well air-conditioned and separated from the house which gave you a sense of privacy. If you need an ensuite bathroom then you may want to discuss this with Evelyn prior to booking. The house is amazing, even better than the photos. Super cool dogs and the housekeeper cooks a chicken rice to die for. We loved our stay - Evelyn was so generous with her time and allowed us a late check out. The trains are close enough to walk so you can still get around easily enough. We will definitely be back.
