We are located a short distance from downtown Vancouver in the much quieter Cedar Cottage community (about 10 minutes by car). There is plenty of free street parking around the house.
The area around the house is one of the cheapest parts of the city to eat out in. If you love asian foods, like pho, sushi, or chinese, you will be in nirvana. There are also some excellent Mexican, Central American, and even Portugese restaurants close by.
There is a new modern drug store located 1/2 a block away that sells almost anything you may need from packaged food items, to toiletries, magazines, medicine, and electronics.
Our home is at the intersection of many transit options, so getting around is very convenient. There are two Skytrain stations within walking distance (less than a 10 minute walk). Or jump on one of several nearby buses that connect with the Skytrain or take them directly to downtown, Stanley Park, UBC, Metrotown, Richmond, YVR Airport, or North Vancouver. Even Grouse Mountain and the Capilano Suspension Bridge are easily accessible by transit. Commercial Drive and Main Street (~5-10 mins away) are both close by and full of trendy shops, restaurants and hipster hangouts.
My partner and I live here along with her curious and friendly son (6 years old). We really enjoy meeting new people and hearing about their travels, so don't be shy. There is usually one or two other guests in the house as well, which can be a great source of information if you compare stories. We will mostly provide you with privacy but if you have any questions or need assistance there is almost always someone around, please don't hesitate to ask.
If the dates you want are available, book immediately to avoid losing your priority! You don't need to ask if the dates are available – we'll let you know if there is any conflict. If the dates you want show up as not available, please check with us as there are often cancellations and other options that the calendar does not show.
Thank–you for your interest, and Happy Travels!
Please be respectful, this is our home. We want you to enjoy your stay, so please treat our home as if it were your own – or better ;) – and I'm sure we'll all get along just fine. A few other minor points to highlight:
No smoking in the house (smoking is permitted outside)
Please be tidy (dirty dishes in the dishwasher, if you spill something - clean it up, etc.)
No guests without prior approval
Enjoy your stay!
I had a great stay at Brad's place for a month and found it excellent value. The room is cosy, the bed is comfy and the shower is ace. The room was exactly as it looked in the pictures (albeit with straight walls of course). It was the smoothest check-in process I've ever had on Airbnb. Brad is very easy-going and has lots of recommendations for places to eat nearby. Speaking of food, there's plenty of cheap Asian restaurants and markets within walking distance, or a short trip up Kingsway Road on the bus. There's 3 major bus routes within 3 minutes walk from the house, so getting somewhere is never really an issue. There are also sound masking devices in the room so even if there's people talking in the living room or lots of traffic outside you can sleep easily.
We stayed at Brad's place for two night. The room is a little small for 2 people but very clean. The house is at a convenient location. We booked the room in last minute but Brad was very responsive. Gave us clear directions. Would definitely stay at his house again if we are in town.
The experience at Brad's was ideal for my circumstances. Brad is a very hospitable and kind host and sharing space with his family and other guests was a true pleasure. Room A was very comfortable and clean, as was the rest of the house. It was very practical for the washroom to be just a few steps away. I was always able to use the kitchen and appliances at my convenience. Conversation topics with Brad were always very stimulating. Restaurants in the neighborhood are varied, offer delicious food at great value. I was able to find free parking very easily at the front of the house.
Nice house, friendly people, comfy bed, good shower, fast internet, easy to get to downtown Vancouver.
La casa de Brad esta muy bien, muy nueva y bien ubicada para ir al centro, la cama muy cómoda y la habitación en general muy bien.
Pasamos un buen rato viendo hockey y explicándome las normas. Repetiría sin duda.
Brad was a very friendly host, the house was beautiful and very clean, just like the pictures! The house was easily accessible (no key needed) , plenty of parking and close to anything downtown,an overall great stay!
I felt very welcome in Brad's house. The mattress was very comfortable, the location was easy to access by car, lots of free parking nearby. Brad was knowledgeable with some good local restaurants. There is a white-noise machine in the room to help mask the traffic noise outside the window which was appreciated. Should the occasion arise for me to need a place to stay in Vancouver again, I will definitely contact Brad again.

I've traveled a fair amount, but I'm always happy to return home to beautiful Vancouver. Some of my favorite places so far include; Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Costa Rica, Turkey, and Japan. I have many more yet to get to, and many more favorites to discover.
I'm pretty easy going and like meeting new people and hearing about their travels. I've already added several destinations to my "bucket list" based on our guests. I also enjoy some of the best things in life; such as football, snowboarding, a good movie (which is unfortunately rare), I hate television (but admit that Breaking Bad is awesome), and love a few video games. I think we are living through the most fabulous period of human existence and really think we should all just lighten up a bit.
As a host, I will pretty much let you decide what kind of experience you want. If you want to hang out and talk, I'm all for it but if you prefer to do your own thing and hang out in your room, that's cool too. I've lived in Vancouver my entire life, so I should be able to answer any question or make some suggestions for you, no matter what your looking for.
As a traveller, I usually don't have much of a plan. I prefer to meander and find the places that the locals enjoy. I often have no idea what I'm looking for until I'm standing right in the middle of it. I'd love any suggestions you may have!
Life motto? Really? Well, Steve Jobs adopted the best motto from the last issue of The Whole Earth Catalog, and I like to keep good company, so I'll say what he would say:
"Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish"
