We are located a short distance from downtown Vancouver in the much quieter Cedar Cottage community (about 10 minutes by car). There is plenty of free street parking around the house.

The area around the house is one of the cheapest parts of the city to eat out in. If you love asian foods, like pho, sushi, or chinese, you will be in nirvana. There are also some excellent Mexican, Central American, and even Portugese restaurants close by.

There is a new modern drug store located 1/2 a block away that sells almost anything you may need from packaged food items, to toiletries, magazines, medicine, and electronics.

Our home is at the intersection of many transit options, so getting around is very convenient. There are two Skytrain stations within walking distance (less than a 10 minute walk). Or jump on one of several nearby buses that connect with the Skytrain or take them directly to downtown, Stanley Park, UBC, Metrotown, Richmond, YVR Airport, or North Vancouver. Even Grouse Mountain and the Capilano Suspension Bridge are easily accessible by transit. Commercial Drive and Main Street (~5-10 mins away) are both close by and full of trendy shops, restaurants and hipster hangouts.

My partner and I live here along with her curious and friendly son (6 years old). We really enjoy meeting new people and hearing about their travels, so don't be shy. There is usually one or two other guests in the house as well, which can be a great source of information if you compare stories. We will mostly provide you with privacy but if you have any questions or need assistance there is almost always someone around, please don't hesitate to ask.

If the dates you want are available, book immediately to avoid losing your priority! You don't need to ask if the dates are available – we'll let you know if there is any conflict. If the dates you want show up as not available, please check with us as there are often cancellations and other options that the calendar does not show.

Thank–you for your interest, and Happy Travels!

  • Brad was a great host! His home was lovely-- very clean, comfortable, and modern. The location was in a nice residential area, very accessible to downtown Vancouver with public transport.

  • Great location and awesome host. Perfect place to discover Vancouver from!!!!

    April 2014
  • Brads place was completely easy and he is very accomodating. The room & bathroom were clean; the entry code is much easier than dealing w/ keys; safe neighborhood,... all was just right. I would stay again!

  • I had a very nice stay with Brad and Jodie - the room was clean and comfy, and both my hosts were very generous with recommendations on restaurants, etc. I enjoyed meeting the other guests as well. I was in town from the US on business and the free city wifi pass was an excellent extra to help avoid cellular fees. Once I got oriented, the train was very handy too!

  • Brad was a great host and his place is very clean and spacious. There is a very nice kitchen available as well, although I didn't use it as this was a very short trip. The room was exactly as described and they even provided a spare towel. The house has fast wifi, and Brad also provides a login to a citywide network. This is enormously valuable if you are coming for a short visit from the US or elsewhere outside of Canada as you can access maps, (website hidden) calls, etc from many SkyTrain stations and other public venues. I hope to return to Vancouver some time in the spring or summer when I have more time, and I will definitely try and stay here again.

  • Brad, and his family, were very kind and helpful throughout my stay. I shared the second level of their home with them and found my room to be clean and comfortable. The shared areas (TV room and kitchen) were sometimes a bit messy, but the purpose of my visit to Vancouver wasn't to watch television, so it wasn't a problem for me. The neighborhood is nice and the Skytrain station is about a 15 minute walk from the house. The Wi-Fi in the house is very good and the city-wide access to Shaw Connect was very helpful when hanging out downtown.

    February 2014
  • It was great staying at Brad's place. The place is close to public transportation so you can easily get to the downtown, metrotown shopping centre, and any other places you want to go! The town was beautiful, and the room was clean and cozy. Free city wi-fi is absolutely cool too!

The only bad thing was it was raining all the time in vancouver during my stay. But this is beyond his control, so nothing to complain! I absolutely loved the place :)

    January 2014
  • The place was great brad is amazing person very cordial.... We have a great time I recommend to anyone to stay there

    January 2014
  • I really enjoyed talking with you and coming along trick-or-treating. It was the second time I have stayed there and I can definitely recommend this place.

    November 2013
  • Our stay with Brad and his family was pleasant. Their house is in a neigbourhood with great and cheap restaurants. It is quite far from the city centre, but with car or public transportation, getting there is easy.
The room we rented was small, but it had everything we needed.

I've traveled a fair amount, but I'm always happy to return home to beautiful Vancouver. Some of my favorite places so far include; Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Costa Rica, Turkey, and Japan. I have many more yet to get to, and many more favorites to discover. I'm pretty easy going and like meeting new people and hearing about their travels. I've already added several destinations to my "bucket list" based on our guests. I also enjoy some of the best things in life; such as football, snowboarding, a good movie (which is unfortunately rare), I hate television (but admit that Breaking Bad is awesome), and love a few video games. I think we are living through the most fabulous period of human existence and really think we should all just lighten up a bit. As a host, I will pretty much let you decide what kind of experience you want. If you want to hang out and talk, I'm all for it but if you prefer to do your own thing and hang out in your room, that's cool too. I've lived in Vancouver my entire life, so I should be able to answer any question or make some suggestions for you, no matter what your looking for. As a traveller, I usually don't have much of a plan. I prefer to meander and find the places that the locals enjoy. I often have no idea what I'm looking for until I'm standing right in the middle of it. I'd love any suggestions you may have! Life motto? Really? Well, Steve Jobs adopted the best motto from the last issue of The Whole Earth Catalog, and I like to keep good company, so I'll say what he would say: "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish"
