A nice and refreshing two storey house with a lotus pound next to everything and in the middle of nowhere...
2 stories house with bathroom. This is a unique village accommodation, located a bit outside Yogyakarta, 15 minutes motorbiking to Sultan Palace. The house has a wonderful atmosphere. There is a river nearby, so you can hear the sound of water 24h. In the evening, crickets will sing for your night sleep.
From the veranda, you will see the lotuses wide opened at night in our ornamental pond. There's also a small in-door pond with golden fishes. Two people can sleep in the second storey room: you will feel there like in the middle of the forest, with a view on banana and coconut trees and the pleasant melody of the river and crickets, your body flattered by the small breeze coming from the triple exposure windows just above you.
On first floor, there's another nice room with a bed for one person and a nice desk where you will get inspired by the garden view. A forth person can sleep in the big living room, just next to the veranda.
There's also an outdoor kitchen with a fridge and all you need if you want to cook by yourself and a nice bathroom with a refreshing outdoor shower. To put it short: this is a wonderful place to rest, just a bit outside of the city, where you will feel like on the edge of the world.
If you have places to visit, we strongly suggest that you rend rent motorbike(s) or bicycle(s) as this place is difficult to reach by public transport. We can help you for the arrangement. Price is inclusive of daily cleaning service. You will also be provided tea and coffee that you can prepare anytime.
There's a small grocery store 3 minutes walk from the house, and if you're lazy going out for lunch or dinner a strolling chicken sate dealer is passing twice daily around 3 and 5 pm. Note that the house is usually not available on week-ends, as we stay there on Saturdays and Sundays.
Please be friendly with our two cats (and golden fishes) and give water to our indoor banana trees, be respectful with our books and vinyl records. This being our own house we will probably ask you a few questions so that we make sure you will fit the place and that the place will fit you.
Bamboo House is nestled among the trees at the end of a dead-end alley in the south suburbs of Jogjakarta. You’ll be welcomed by Dita’s mother, Noeri. It’s a nice and large open-air house, surrounded by big trees. You’ll have as visitors Dita’s cats and all kinds of insects and lizards that are living outside or inside the house. Each morning, Yanti cooks very nice breakfasts The house has a beautiful garden, outside and inside pools with fishes and lotus flowers which blossom every night. Noeri will do her best to maximize your stay in Jogja, she can organize trips and taxis to discover Borobudur and Prambanan temples, Ramayana ballet show, Kaliurang and the Merapi volcano,…Be aware that there is no public transport near Bamboo House and if you want to get a taxi, you’ll have to ask Noeri to manage it for you. Enjoy Jogja and Bamboo House!
The house is really beautiful and we enjoyed every minute we could spend there. Benedicta and her mother Nuri went out of their way to accomodate some of our special needs, because we came to Yogya for a project. 'Coming home' to the Lotus Home environment, the cats, the neighborhood was soothing. Many thanks to Julien, Dita and Nuri for the privilege to share your home and hospitality.
We had such a comfortable stay at the quiet Lotus home in Yogya. The accommodation was extremely clean and comfortable and exceeded our expectations. We were looked after so well, we felt like a part of the family whilst our space was totally respected at the same time. I couldn't have wished for a greater experience. The breakfast was delicious, the hospitality impeccable and their help with local knowledge made our stay all the more enjoyable. I highly recommend a stay in this tranquil paradise if you are visiting Yogya.

Hi, I am Benedicta, a very active 30 years old girl. I work in Jakarta but try to come back every week-end to Yogyakarta, a city where I was born and that I love. Me and my French husband Julien have a nice house there that we rent on airbnb when we're not there (Julien spends most of his time in Paris, where he runs an antiquarian bookshop and I work in Jakarta when I'm not traveling all across Indonesia for my institution).
We also take care of our former house, a bamboo hut just next door, that you can rent all year long. The hut and our "big house" are both simple, nice, tranquil and full of charm.
My mother, Ibu Nuri, who long runned a youth hostel in Yogya and speaks English, will help you with all you need and a friend of ours, Mbak Yanti, a cook in one of the most famous restaurant of the city, will prepare breakfast for you and clean the house(s) daily.
Once you book one of our two places, you will be in touch with the four of us: myself, probably in Jakarta, Julien, from Paris, and my mother and my friend Yanti, who both stay in Yogya. We hope you will enjoy this slightly remote small paradise as we love it.
