Darla's instructions for self check-in were very clear & we had no issues at all. The space was absolutely "enchanting," and we really enjoyed our time there. This space is full of delightful surprises/details. The location is very convenient--only a very short walk to all the restaurants & shops on Abbott Kinney Blvd. Thanks again!
The guest house was simply amazing. One of the coolest airbnb experiences so far. The space is beautiful, with artwork and great books everywhere, the check in/out process and access were simple and clear, and the location cannot be beat. We took advantage of the bikes included and explored Venice, Santa Monica and the beaches everyday....Abbot Kinney is so close, with shopping and dining galore, and the Venice canals are also super close. Overall, a great place, just as described, and even prettier than in the pictures.
Loved this place. Funny when we first arrived, we weren't sure we liked it. Perhaps because we had just came from the Marriott for a wedding, and this was a distinct change. But by morning we felt very settled in and at home and loved it and all it's funky oddities. For example, the walls are not all right angles, and the glass sitting room feels like you are living outside. I loved waking up in the morning and looking into the sitting room, feeling like we were sleeping in a jungle. This place has character, something that is sadly disappearing around Venice as prices go up and new houses replace old. We used the bikes a lot and road up and down the ocean front bike path to Manhattan Beach and past Santa Monica. We road them to the Santa Monica promenade and wandering around one day, then road back along the ocean. We never met our hosts, but any questions we had were answered within a short time frame. This is a great location where you can walk or bike easily to places such as the beach or Whole Foods. We only used the kitchen for breakfast and snacking but it was well equipped and things like sugar and olive oil, spices, and more are there so you don't have to buy this stuff for your time there. This place will not be for everyone because of its uniqueness and casual ambiance. There are cobwebs here and there, and the furniture has some wear but nothing bad. Also, when the windows are open, people in the units behind you sound like they are in your house. But noise (talking, singing, and once piano playing) was just brief with people occasionally coming and going, nothing that was disturbing or woke us. It was easy to find parking on the street. The street is residential but just a very short walk to Abbot Kinney. We also walked to the canals and wandered around, about a 10 minute walk away.
This was a very quaint studio apartment. Sun filled and very comfortable. Especially loved sitting in the glass green house outside of the bedroom soaking up the afternoon warmth.
Also the location is truely awesome. This studio is a few minutes walk from Abbott Kinney street, recently voted the coolest street in America, and too true. We loved it.. Plus having a couple of bicycles to visit Venice Beach and surroundings was incredible convenient..
To begin with, we loved the artistic look and feel of the apartment and it's proximity to Venice beach. To be fair though we were less than happy with our stay. To begin with, it is small. Perfect for 2 adults, terrible for 3. The second room and bed is in the glass entry way and really nothing more than a day bed in a very lovely but overly sunny for sleep, room. We also felt the price exorbitant for what was delivered. A $60 cleaning fee is ridiculous especially as the apartment was dusty (clean but no where near 'hotel clean'). Previous customers leftover condiments and food were left in the fridge as well. It was nice to have someone else's quarter bag of ground coffee though. If you need much hand-holding or enjoy meeting your hosts this is not the place for you - they were nowhere to be found. So, if a very small but cute place a mile from the beach and close to shopping and food - that costs too much and has no amenities is the place for you - go for it. We wish we hadn't.
Where to start - the place was exactly as enchanting in person as it looks in the photos. Super funky, in the best possible way. We took advantage of the great weather by leaving windows & screen door open, and had the fan on over the bed at night. Loved how you could watch a movie from the dining area, or swing it around to watch from bed. Really enjoyed perusing the wonderful collection of books & magazines as well. Sun room was great for a quick nap when we weren't out exploring the neighborhood & city.
The neighborhood was perfect as well - parking was free & plentiful, except on Friday & Saturday nights as can be expected with a space so close to a happening bar, dining & shopping scene.
Loved staying in this neighborhood as well - close to the beach, steps from Abbot-Kinney, and close enough to the "quirkiness" of the board walk without being right on it. So many great dining options in the area but we found ourselves at Kreation every morning for a juice or smoothie and a coffee.
Never met our hosts but they were quick & responsive with every question or comment.
I will note that one night we needed ear plugs to get to sleep - walls were a bit thin, but we're urban dwellers ourselves so are more or less used to being in a bustling neighborhood.
All in all a wonderful experience - thanks again!
