This amazing villa is just perfect for your Costa Rican holiday. It is well located for all local activities, - diving, white water rafting, quad biking, snorkelling, sailing, horse back riding, zip lining, surfing.. You have your own beautiful landscaped back yard with secluded garden and swimming pool. Your only problem might be being woken by the howler monkeys!

The space

Designer Tropical Villa situated about 5 minutes walk from the beach in a small community called Surfside.

Use the house as a base for surfing (Playa Grande and Tamarindo), rainforest tours, horse riding, diving (Catalinas) .

The house is in an expat area where there are restaurants Maxwells (across the road), Beach Shack, El Castillo, Sol y Mar. A couple of blocks walk to a western stocked supermarket and to Playa Potrero Beach. Hire a bike and you are 10 mins cycle ride from Flamingo and the bars and restaurants there.

The house is secure with a state of the art motion burglar alarm, protection fencing and electric security blinds

Cable TV, internet, secluded swimming pool in a landscaped tropical garden.

This area is such a great place for people with different interests, from bird watching, to 4x4 driving the great nature of Costa Rica is on your doorstep.

The sunsets viewed from Mar y Sol in Flamingo with a cocktail in the hand is a must do. Mar y Sol is one of the top restaurants in Costa Rica so you have the finest dinging on your doorstep!

Buses do run regularly to Tamarindo, but would advise hiring bicycles or a 4x4 car if you wish to explore with more flexibility.

If you wish to have individual yoga/massage in your tropical retreat this can be organised also.

All the ingredients for a wonderfully relaxing or highly adventurous holiday! Plus the wake up call of the local howler monkeys......

Tourist Information Flamingo
Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica

He will let you in, show you around and you can contact him on (EMAIL HIDDEN) if you want any information on tours etc.

If you send me your email I will send you a map also on how to get there.

As a note: Any guests arriving after 6pm Randall charges me $60. This is his fee so please be aware of this when planning your trip.

Check in times:

Check out by 10.00 am
Check in after 2.00pm

If you wish to make any changes to the above please advise me on booking and I am sure I will be able to accommodate your itinerary.

Interaction with guests

I have a wonderful Manager , Randall, who manages the property and will be your contact . He will greet you on arrival and if you have any problems he is easy to contact and sort any issues out.

Other things to note

Please note that if you are arriving after 6pm then there is a check-in surcharge fee of $30 (I get charged $60 for this by Randall, but I will pay 50% of this).

There is a large Guanacaste tree in the garden. This gives amazing shade and cover for monkeys and birds. The leaves do drop into the pool. I have a pool maintenance person that tends the pool once a week. If there are leaves or sand in the pool then there is a net that you can use to clear these bits away.

There is a gardener and pool person that come once a week. If you ask Randall what days these are then you can make arrangements to not be in the house on those days if you value your privacy. I cannot ask them not to be there, as I need weekly maintenance to maintain the house.

House Rules
Check in time is 10AM - 6PM

The only house rules are to respect the house and the environment.

Keeping A/C's on all day or lights or using a lot of water is not about the bills (well, a bit) but about respecting the environment.

Please only use the electric security blinds if you leave the house for a long period. Do not use them every day, it's not necessary, and not advised to be used at night as they are very secure and would create a problem with exiting the property in an event of a fire.

The main rule is to ENJOY!

We spent a portion of our honeymoon at Rosie's "Casa Dulce" and could not have been happier with it. The property manager, Randall, was very helpful and responsive throughout the duration of our stay. We loved the local beaches (especially Penca!), local restaurants (Sol y Mar was our favorite for local flavor!), and found the home to be well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay! We would stay here again on a return trip for sure!

This place was great if you just want to relax in the private pool and take it easy. The beach is a 7 minute walk to a great beach to watch the sunset at the marina bar and grill. Tamarindo is just a 20 min drive South The house has a full security system with roll down gates on the widows If I am ever in the area again I would definitely stay here a second time. The property managers were a pleasure to deal with, very helpful and professional. Thanks for the great stay!

The responsable of the house, Randall and Tim was both really attentive about what we were asking for. Your house is amazing and with this garden, just wow. We felt home, all the furniture was there to be functional. We had a family raccoon in the roof and Randall take care of it. We felt safe. This house need some love, and a big clean up but overall, its was a nice experience renting your house. Thank you Rosie.

We had an amazing stay in this airbnb! The house is lovely and pictures really don't do it justice. The description of the house and Portrero was very accurate and it surpassed our expectation. However, we did have a couple of setbacks. Before arriving, we looked at reviews for the property and realized that there had been a break-in months ago. Rosie said at the time that a safe box was installed, but when we arrived there was no safe box. When we asked the property manager, Randall, about this he said that the model they wanted was out of stock and that it would be installed "soon." Although nothing bad happened during our stay, we would have felt safer if we had been able to leave our valuable belonging in a safe box while we were away. Overall, we didn't feel unsafe at any point during the stay. The biggest issue we experienced was the AC. From the moment we arrived, the AC in the living room was leaking and created a puddle of water on the floor. We had to place buckets under the AC and empty them several times throughout the day and dry the floor with towels. On the third day, the AC in the main room bagan to make an awful sound that kept us up all night. This also happened with the AC in the smaller bedroom on the fifth day. The AC maintenance guy was called three times during our whole stay and he came every time. Although the noise issue was fixed after he came, we had to continue to deal with the leaking issue up until a two days before we left. With the exception of this AC issue, our stay was amazing and we really loved this house!

Response from Rosie:
Work has been carried out as promised since the last break in (and there have been no more problems) - more sensors have been installed and there is now a direct line security guards in case of alerts. The safe box as mentioned, is in action, but has taken a while to organise. As mentioned in the review, the A/C has had continual attention and is now fixed. I hope this will assure any future guests that the issues raised have been addressed.

We spent a month in Casa Dulce and we enjoyed the entire time. Surfside area is a great location and is a great mix of locals, ex-pats and vacationers from all over. We met great people who are all willing to help you get to know the area and give you tips on anything you have questions about. We had a car only 1 week out of the month to do some traveling around other parts of the country, otherwise we walked (a lot), called taxis or used local bus. The casa is open and airy, but what made it great was the backyard garden, pool and wildlife. Plenty of outdoor furniture for relaxing and the pool was refreshing for the hot days. Great mix of restaurants within walking distance and all the beaches in area are unique and different that it seems you can go to a new one every day. We would recommend a stay at Casa Dulce for people who are looking for a vacation where you want to experience the small town Costa Rican culture and people, beaches that are natural and not crowded and some of the best seafood and fresh fruits anywhere we have traveled. Thanks to Rosie, as well as Randall and Tim for making our second of two months in Costa Rica a good one.

Very easy going with anybody staying - but draw the line at DIY Graffiti or the new stucco effect wall finish with diced carrots after too much alcohol from the night before!
