Interaction with Guests
We will be present at the house during your stay,so you can just knock on the door or call me if you need anything or have any questions
Public transportation is not that convenient. There is a bus down the street that goes into town during the day,but a car would be better.
Other Things to Note
I would be happy to assist you with a personalized tour of Cape Ann for an additional fee. Please contact me for details. I have also purchased a dehumidifier to be used when needed. Usually in August.
Quite after 11:00PM
Ellen and her studio apartment were excellent. Ellen greeted us as we pulled into her driveway and went through the studio with us to make sure we had everything we needed. In addition, she was extremely helpful in giving us recommendations for where to eat and what we could potentially do while we were in town.
The studio was just as described and worked well for my husband and me. It has a nice layout and is spacious. The shower had nice, hot water with great pressure. The Wi-Fi signal was strong.
We look forward to staying with Ellen again should we find ourselves up north again.
The studio was clean and comfortable, and Ellen was friendly and helpful. Ellen gave us a bottle of wine when she learned that we were on our honeymoon, a thoughtful gesture. We liked how quiet the neighborhood was, although it was a quick drive into "downtown" Gloucester. We also liked the amenities - kitchen with stove and fridge, bathroom with full bath and shower. The location is convenient to beaches and towns.
Hellen is an experienced hostess. Available yet discreet which we appreciated very much. Her house is located on a gorgeous piece of land. The distance from Cape Ann's main attractions is respectable. The loft is according to pictures, somewhat vintage and eclectic. We liked that the fridge is regular size so we could store plenty of fresh fruits and breakfast material. There is everything that you need for light cooking if you don't feel like eating out constantly. On the cons side... The loft is quite dark as it's garden level and there are only a few windows which are unfortunately located underneath a deck. We found that there was a constant damp smell and we must admit we were highly disappointed about that. The humidity level was too high and not only due to the overcast weather, I suppose nothing that a good dehumidifier could not fix. I would strongly recommend Hellen to get one along with a moisture meter to avoid permanent problems to her nice house. The bathroom needs a little bit of love but it was clean and well provided with towels, soap and shampoo. I hope we only had positive feedback for her as Helen is a very nice lady. We wish her all the best.
Thank you for your honest review. It was unfortunate that your stay had several rainy days and the studio felt damp. I will look into purchasing a good moisture meter and buy a humidifier if it is needed. The low light in the garden level studio is usually a plus because it keeps the room naturally cool on hot summer days when guests return from the blazing sun at the beach. My rental is rather affordable for Gloucester B&B's.
Ellen was a great host and the place was a great value! A perfect spot to discover Cape Ann. I would definitely stay at Ellen's place in the future!
Ellen was a very kind and helpful host. When we needed something, Ellen was quick to help out for she lives in the same home. Ellen explained clearly how to drive to certain beaches and restaurants when we told her what we wanted to see and eat. The apartment was fine for our needs, though Ellen's place was a bit out of town.
Ellen is a wonderful host. She was extraordinarily gracious in offering tips on local sites to visit and other insider info on the area. The apartment was very comfortable and clean. The setting was wonderfully quiet. I would recommend staying with Ellen for sure!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Ellen. She is easy going and knows everything that is going on in the area - she is a wealth of information. The studio was clean, comfortable and private. Ellen respected our privacy and told us to ask if we needed anything. The neighborhood was quiet with a few kids here and there and some good music playing now and again. The yard and grounds are beautiful and peaceful - we woke to birds both mornings and enjoyed coffee on the enclosed porch. Absolutely want to stay with Ellen again.
