  • We have spent three wonderful days at Stephens condo. It is a spacy apartment and there is all you need and more. It's luxury. A big balcony, swimming pool and a Smathers beach nearby.
If you shall not absolutely live in downtown Key West, we can highly recommend this place. You got two kilpmeters to downtown. Go on and enjoy

  • The condo was exactly what is represented by the pictures. It was the perfect size for our family. We would definitely stay here again.

  • This was a wonderful location to spend a week. Four of us fit into the condo quite nicely. The pool and hot tub were great and the surroundings were a wonderful get away from the winter cold. The location is not too far from Duval Street – We went the entire week without a car. I would definitely return…

  • Stephen was great. The condo is very nice and spacious. It was really easy to get the key and Stephen has a property manager in Key West that can handle any problems you might have. Another great airbnb experience!

  • Hi speed wireless internet was not hi speed & didn't work most of the time. it was a mifi unit that was 1X , threw you off most of the time & kept shutting down. turns out, to top it off, it shut down completely if the unit was over a certain GB limit so the property management wouldn't have to pay additional charges! they shouldn't have admitted that. if you have any work to do on the internet, forget it. work while i was there on the internet was a MUST. I asked in advance. cost me all sorts of money & I lost jobs thanks to (website hidden) fold doors throughout the place were off the hinges, hanging out on the room/halls so you'd run into them. towel racks fell off the walls. management was snippity.i paid $125 for cleaning fee yet had to strip beds, wash towels & take trash out. had to haul trash to other end of the building.???????? what was the $125 for? vacuuming & remaking the beds? owner was very nice & responsive but had NO CLUE what was going on in his unit. knew nothing about the internet or the unit. he was in san francisco. I'm asking for a complete refund. some "vacation". just miserable.
also arrival was at 4 PM. and you'd better not be there 5 minutes before then., you WILL WAIT. said we could drop off luggage earlier. NO WAY.

    Response from Stephen:

Dorsey clearly had a negative experience, which is unfortunate. Every other guests staying at my condo has had positive things to say about my apartment, the complex, and the experience of working with me. I want to address the specific issues mentioned in Dorsey's review, but I also encourage prospective renters to read the other reviews on my unit which I believe accurately reflect the experience of people staying at my condo.

The wireless internet was not operating well during Dorsey's stay. It was a Verizon internet system we installed a few months ago which we thought had been working fine (based on the feedback received from guests). This was the first time we or the property manager encountered a GB limit with the Verizon system (which occurred on the last night of Dorsey's stay). When we learned of this, we immediately called Verizon and the GB limit was removed so this will never happen again. This experience has convinced us to switch our internet provider to Comcast, which should be much faster and more reliable. We are switching to Comcast this week.

The description of the check-in process in this review is completely inaccurate. The check in time is 4:00 pm, which is clearly stated on my listing. I inform each guest in advance that early check in may be possible depending on whether the unit is occupied the night before and how quickly the unit is cleaned. I explain that if early check in is not possible, guests can leave luggage with the property management company during the week and on Saturday or with the security guard at our building on Sunday. I informed Dorsey via email that the unit was booked the night before her arrival and that early check-in might not be available. She replied by saying that she would not be arriving at the condo until after 4:00 pm, so early check in was not an issue. The unit was ready at 4:00 pm, on time and exactly when she said she would be arriving. That Dorsey would cite this as a problem tells you something about her, not the experience of staying at my condo.

Her description of our check-out procedures (suggesting that we ask guests to clean the apartment before they leave) is also inaccurate and misleading. The check out procedures are described fully in the house manual which guests receive electronically from Airbnb. We ask guests to do a few things before they leave: take used towels and sheets to the washing machine (which is in our apartment) and start one load of laundry and simply leave the rest on top of the washer; put dirty dishes in the dishwasher and turn it on; and take out the trash to the receptacle down the hallway. Most people do not find this to be burdensome, and these few steps help the cleaning go faster so that the unit is available sooner. In my experience, it takes 15 minutes at most for one person to do these few things.

My siblings and I have owned this condo for over a decade. We use it ourselves, follow the simple check-out procedures described above, and try to make it as home-like as possible. We work hard to ensure that guests enjoy their stay in Key West. We take feedback from guests very seriously and are always striving to improve the unit. When a guest encounters an unexpected problem, we try to resolve it right away by working with the property manager. In those rare situations when we cannot solve an issue immediately (as was the case with the internet on Dorsey's last night) I offer a reasonable refund, which I did in this case. Dorsey's response was to ask for a full refund of all the money she paid which, again, tells you more about Dorsey than me or my condo.

  • I rented this condo for the weekend while vacationing in Key West. It was very clean and had everything you would need. The pool overlooks the beach and was an amazing perk. The condo is very close to a few of the beaches in Key West and a short bike ride/walk from Duval street. I have rented a few places in Key West over the years and this was by far the best. Steve was great to work with. Very friendly and responsive to anything that you may need. He recommended great places to go to eat and things to do. I can't wait to go back again soon.

  • We had a wonderful time and Stephen made sure everything was ready for us. He is a very careful host. We went there the 5 of us, including 2 kids of 11 and 13 for Thanksgiving week. Despite a so so weather, we enjoyed the warm pool, a sea boat tour, the beach and the delightful streets of Key West. The condo is very well located and neat, was perfect for this family gate away. The condo description is very true, I definitely recommend it!

  • The complex was nice and peaceful. The apartment itself was spacious and well laid out. Stephen in particular was very accommodating and helpful. I will absolutely consider coming back again. Great experience overall.

  • We had a great time at Stephens`place. It was a quiet and relaxed place, close to the nice Smathers beach or Higgs beach. Stephen gave us good recommendations for nice restaurants and were available for questions at any time. Key West is a cute and relaxed place.
