Stay in this gracious 4- bedroom stately home located on the edge of Uptown Martinsville. A continental breakfast and snacks are included, and guests may enjoy complimentary passes to the next door YMCA. The downstairs is available for events under 50 for an additional fee. The large side porch wakes up to the morning sun for coffee but is shady for that afternoon cocktail. You are in walking distance to museums, parks, and resturants.

The space
This 1927 gracious home was built as a wedding present by the Finley family for Virginia Mirror co-founder, Nick Shotland and his wife May Finely. In 2019, the new owner freshened it up with paint and wallpaper, refinished floors, and added a mix of new and antique furniture while maintaining the artistic woodwork and chandeliers.

Guest access
Guest may use the next door YMCA for free, and you are within walking distance of museums, retaudants, parks, and Uptown.

During your stay
I do not reside at One Starling, but I live close by and have a co-host if needed. I'm available for any questions via a call/text, and I may stop by.

Other things to note
Guests are welcome to rent one bedroom, all four bedrooms, and/or the downstairs for events or just to have the whole house to yourselves. The garden and porch are always accessible. The on-site parking lot accommodates 12 cars, and the next door YMCA parking lot is, also, available for guest parking.

I grew up in the area and as a young adult, I pursued larger cites, but I came back to this beautiful small town to raise my family. Our children are grown, but I enjoy meeting new people and sharing my love for the community. I'm a former teacher who is currently volunteers in many aspects of the community.
