About this listing
You might see our home listed by Darren O. however this is actually my home (where I live) so I thought I would create my own listing as well. You can book through him or through me...but either way you'll be living with me.
This private house is set up to provide students and interns visiting San Francisco with a safe and comfortable place to stay that has a built in community of international travelers. Why come to San Francisco and stay in a place all by yourself? If you're friendly and social and would like to live in a fun house with students from all over the world, check us out.
You should know that living in a community is very different than living alone or with a family. We seek students that will be kind and respectful to other housemates and behave in a way that is not a burden to others in the house. Yes, this means washing your own dishes and cleaning off the counters. If you are a "dirty dish leaver" please, please look for another house.
Because this is a communal house you might need to be flexible and willingly adjust your personal routines and habits if it’s helpful to other occupants or for the overall good of the house. However, most housemates find that the social benefits of living together in a fun house far outweigh and inconvenience to personal space, privacy and routines. If you love hostels, let us know because then we know you understand how great community living can be.
Our two person rooms are shared with other housemates of the same gender, unless opposite gender roommates have agreed to share. Unlike a hostel, the rooms have a desk, drawers and a bit more space to spread out, decorate, and make your temporary home feel comfortable.
Housemates enjoy a free high speed internet Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, private bathrooms and laundry facilities. There's also a community common lounge with comfy sofas, chairs and community desks. Many of us also usually chip in and enjoy one or more weekly community meals together.
We offer flexible and affordable monthly rates. This is month-to-month rental accommodation so a housemate request application and credit check may be required. New housemates pay for at least one month to start. But unlike other homes, that require a fixed term contract, here you always have the option of checking out early, if your plans change. Please contact us for more details on this.
We looking forward to meeting you.
Shelli's place is a great place to stay. The rooms and shared areas are very clean and well-furnished. For those that like to cook, there are plenty of dishes, pots, pans, and other cooking utensils in the kitchen. For those that like to eat out more often, there are many restaurants nearby as the place is at a very good location in Chinatown. There are also a variety of different stores within walking distance where one can buy supplies and necessities, such as Walgreens and Target. For laundry, there is a coin-operated laundry machine and dryer. Overall, I've had an excellent experience at Shelli's place. The only thing that some people may have issues with are the shared bedrooms. However, I have found everyone living in the house to be remarkably nice and friendly during my stay. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to study or intern in SF.
Shelli's place is awesome!!! The location is great. You're near the Financial District, Chinatown, Downtown, and North Beach. It's a short walk to Muni/Bart for the subways, and just around the block for buses. And you would not be lacking amenities at Shelli's. A kitchen with plenty of pots, pans, cookie sheets and other equipments for you to cook up some delicious meals or even boil cup noodles. You get your food storage space (cupboards and refrigerator). Coin-operated washer/dryer is in house. Yes, you do share a room, but the people here are fun and amazing. A great place to stay in SF, especially if you're a student or intern.
