Neighborhood highlights

Enfield has a rich history, dating back to the Revolutionary War. Take a walking tour and visit the Cellars, the former home of Gov. John Branch – even the Marquis de Lafayette visited The Cellars on February 28, 1825, during his grand tour of America (the home is just a block away). It is also just a 20-minute, scenic car ride along Thirteen Bridges Road to Sylvan Heights Bird Park, which has the largest collection of exotic and rare waterfowl in the world. Make sure to visit the bird park’s Parakeet Exhibit where you can feed hundreds of colorful birds as they eat from your hand. Want more exercise? Kayak on Fishing Creek or the town is just 20 minutes from Medoc Mountain State Park, with its 10 miles of hiking trails. The town was also once the largest raw peanut market in the world. We still cultivate fields and fields of peanuts, but you can actually sample some of these beauties at Aunt Ruby’s Peanuts in downtown Enfield – and buy a few cans to take home to your friends and family. Tired of driving? Go to a yoga class in downtown Enfield and stretch out at Yoga Magnolia. Looking for a great gift for your mother-in-law? Visit Southern Secrets for unique, one-of-a-kind gifts hand-crafted by local artisans/artists.

I was born and raised in Enfield, a charming, rural community in Eastern North Carolina. My husband and I still call Enfield home. And even though our son is serving in the US Navy, he calls Enfield home as well. We are excited for you to join us for as long you can.
