  • I had a wonderful stay at the chalet! It's conveniently located near Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands, The Burren and much more. Plus - the peace and quiet of the location was a great ending to the trip. Our host Kate was very sweet, and very welcoming. I would highly recommend staying here.

  • We never met Kate; however, her neice Jean was lovely and came by to check up on us a few times. We have stayed in a lot of airbnb places, and honestly, we were just not comfortable here. There was a comprehensive list of rules which just seemed odd to us - I understand having rules, however, we had to unplug all appliances when we left for the day and overnight (no charging laptops or cell phones), we had to take our garbage out or risk being charged (this was listed in the airbnb rules). We risked being charged a cleaning fee if we didn't remove the linens and return the apartment as we had found it (cleaning supplies were left for us). Needless to say, we just felt afraid to actually live in the space, and furiously cleaning toilets before we left the chalet just didn't leave us feeling relaxed. I guess I just feel that some of these amenities should just be provided and included in the cost of running an apartment on airbnb. The chalet however, was in a beautiful location, and the landcape was stunning. We were also left with travel books, which really helped us enjoy the surrounding area.

  • Had a very pleasant stay at Kate's place. She was away, but her niece, Jean, was very friendly and helpful. The chalet is in a beautiful area. I walked along the country roads every morning to start my day. The home is cozy and comfortable. It was perfect for our family of four, but you have to be willing to share a small bath. If you are looking for luxurious, this is not the place, but if you are looking for clean, convenient, comfortable and cozy, you will be satisfied. There are some quirks like having to take your trash with you, and you do have to clean the place or have a 25 euro charge. All in all we we had a lovely stay and would definitely consider coming back if we ever return to Ireland.

  • I spent a great time in Kate's chalet: quiet location and not far from highlights (Burren, cliffs, Connemara...), facilities and comfort. She was not able to be there but I thank Jean for being there, a lovely and kind person. Even if she was not at home, Kate sent messages to know if everything was ok. Really worth seeing and would recommend it!

  • Our flight was delayed and Kate wait for us even it was late at night. She was really nice. We didn't see her that much during our stay because she had to go. It was fine for us since we planned à lot of things to do and are very independant.
The chalet was fine, in a very peaceful area surrounded by cows and birds.

  • Kate was a really perfect host: she knows EVERYTHING about the region, has plenty of helpful advise at hand and even prepared breakfast for us on our first day.
The chalet itsself is as discribed, very tidy and really beautiful. You can see the mountains from the master bedroom and at night the lights of Galway city!
Lots of great attractions are just an hour drive away: Aran Islands, Cliffs of Moher, Galway city, Conemarra (ok 1,5 hour drive), Galway and several National Parks as well.
If you love Irish nature and are looking for a great place to stay in the Western region of Ireland Kate´s place is perfect for you!

  • Kate was an absolutely phenomenal host. From the warm welcoming even at the late hour we arrived to the evening of our departure, she was more than hospitable. The chalet was tidy and very comfortable and the rules were well laid out. The countryside surroundings were breathtaking not to mention quiet and relaxing. I will most definitely recommend these lodgings to anyone travelling in or near this area. Thanks again for everything, Kate!

  • Kate's place was a great find. It was well appointed, in a beautiful location and Kate was fun to meet and a wonderful host. I chose this place because of the location - halfway between Galway and Shannon (airport) with easy access to the Cliffs of Moher/the Burren - and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the area. Don't miss Bradley's Bar if you stay here as it's a great place to meet the friendly locals.

    Response from Kate:

Hi gale I've rewritten the directions again. it's hard to find the place but when you do it's great. pollataggle Galway in the map search is the best bet and having them printed in advance.

  • Kate is the most attentive hostess and came into the apartment regularly to make sure that we knew where to go, what to do etc. She even offered to have us share her fire every night too had we wanted. The accomodation provided just what we needed - and any quirks (such as which way to turn the shower on!) were pointed out by Kate at the beginning of our stay. The apartment is well located for exploring Galway and the surrounding area. Thanks Kate - a truly Irish hostess with a rich family history!
