ACCESSIBILITY AND ACCESS

The Alm can be reached on foot from the Streitberg or Keflau parking lot in just 45 minutes, either via the Märchenweg [fairy tale path] or via the Forststraße [forest road].

Access by car is also possible. It is a gravel road of the Austrian Federal Forests and is therefore subject to a TOLL!
Cost: 4 euros - coin insertion at the barrier.

Winter operation

Since the Alm is located at 1100 meters and is located in a very snowy area, we can only guarantee one arrival or departure on arrival and departure.
In between, it is always cleared in case of snowfall, but it may be that you cannot drive into the valley every day or return to the Alm.

It is possible to park the cars in the Ebbenau and walk approx. 40 minutes to the alpine pasture, or to the Schafbach farmers, as far as there is usually an access road (20 min walk).

The Schafbachalm is located right next to the Hatzenalm ( closed from the beginning of November 2020 to April 2021), which invites you to linger with its culinary diversity. If you want to set aside the cooking spoon yourself, you can separate just 20 steps from a good snack and a fabulous dinner.
Traditional innkeeper Hans Leitgeb comes from the Hatzen Alm and has been convincing with his excellent cuisine for years.

The Schafbachalm is quiet and secluded at 1,100 m above sea level and is at the same time only 15 – 30 minutes by car from all sights and mountain lakes in the region.
