We are offering a private bedroom in a vibrant shared house in central Halifax. The house has a sunny south facing backyard, large family kitchen, living room and bathroom with a deep claw foot tub. All linens can be provided if you need them. Street parking is available and wireless internet is provided as well.
The house is located in the heart of Halifax, within 15 minutes walking distance of Citadel hill, the Halifax Metro Centre, Neptune theater, Alexander Keith’s brewery and shopping on Spring Garden Road. Walk towards the water and within 5 minutes you can be on the Halifax waterfront, breathing the sea air or visiting one of the many shops or restaurants in the Historic Properties area, including the Hart and Thistle Gastropub or Cow's Ice cream! Fifteen minutes in the other direction will take you to the historic Hydrostone area. If you are up for a 30 minute walk along the waterfront (or 10 minute drive) you will arrive at the Seaport farmer’s market and historic Pier 21.
Your hosts are a young professional couple, our room mate and our two dogs, a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Basset Hound, Hudson and Roy! The pups are Very loveable and won't go in your room unless you invite them in - how could you resist? Together we enjoy cooking using fresh, local ingredients. We are passionate about entertaining in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.
If you have any questions or are looking to stay longer than one or two nights please feel free to get in touch with me. Thanks!
The experience was great! The hosts were extremely friendly and offered exactly what was advertised. The neighbourhood was very hip and reminded us of Brooklyn or Montreal with it's unique restaurants and coffee shops.
Thanks Laura (and Chris) for a really fun stay! It was great getting to know you and you're lovely pets!! Great place to stay - relaxed environment, very nice and fun people living there, room was clean. Felt very welcome.
Halifax is an amazing place, even better walking around the area where Laura and Chris live. Being greeted by a ginger cat called Bruce on my first night sealed the deal and having a morning tea surrounded by two bernese dogs was the icing on the cake. Laura and Chris are such lovely people, their home is inviting and relaxing and it kind of felt like my own home. Laura made sure I had everything I needed and as a first time user of air b and b, it was a great experience!
It was very simple to arrange our arrival with Laura by email. However, I never received an answer by text message at the number I had from the site. Laura, Chris and their roommates are welcoming and easy living, even if we had not the same beat, when we met in the house, we had good chats.
The room is very small and it's a flat shared with four people, so it's not always clean. But it's correct. The place is well located near Downtown and North End with everything in walking or biking distance.
I couldn't stay here. The place was a mess when I arrived; I practically tripped over shoes as I came in the front door. The ventilation in the house was very poor (as mentioned by other guests). I didn't like that the room didn't have a lock on the door.
The worst part was that the home owners were home when I arrived, but didn't even say hello. I felt as if I was breaking in to their place. It was very unnerving.
Super easy to coordinate with. The room acts as a great home base for exploring the city. Everything you want to see in the city is very walkable from the house and is in an up an coming trendy part of town with great restaurants.
Convenient little room which is perfect if all you need is a place to lay your head for a night. We are huge dog people so we didn't mind Hudson one bit - we even tried to get him to cuddle with us, unfortunately to no avail. Laura was also super helpful in coordinating with me after we had checked out, as I had inadvertently left a few items behind. As noted in some other reviews, the bathroom could be a little cleaner, but it is a family home so we were okay with it.
