About this listing
This is a view of Smith Creek at the property line. Our stretch of creek begins at the falls and snakes through our 12 acres.
**Wimberley area post-flood update** Many of our past and future guests have emailed us after the devastating Memorial Day weekend flooding and we appreciate all the well-wishes and concern. We were very lucky that all of our properties were left high and dry and are completely fine. The flooding happened primarily along The Blanco River and the area creeks were not impacted so much. Our hearts go out to all the area families that lost homes, loved ones, pets, and property. All of our future bookings are good to go, and we are happily accepting new ones as well. We’re still a great town to visit!
Edelweiss is a lovely country home on the banks of beautiful Smith Creek, yet only minutes from the fabulous shopping and dining of downtown Wimberley. This spacious house is perfect for family and friend gatherings. Take a stroll through the 12 acres of creek side nature (2 private, 10 shared with the owners), watch the deer graze as you enjoy your morning coffee, strum your guitar beside the fire pit, challenge your friends to a game of pool, watch your kiddos play in the tree house, have a family bbq on the gorgeous back deck, snuggle up by the fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa, and feel the stress of your daily life melt away.
The name Edelweiss belongs to a delicate white flower that grows in the Alps, made famous in The Sound of Music. From the morning songs of the sweet, chirping birds to the evening orchestra courtesy of the frogs and toads along the creek, we like to say that the Hill Country is alive with the sound of music! Here you get the privacy and serenity of a country home with all the amenities of modern life, including wifi. During the house remodel the kitchen was built from scratch, and some of the furniture was hand made by the owner, a professional woodworker. The house has two and a half baths, three bedrooms (king, queen, and three twin beds), plus a large game room with two queen futons, games for kids of all ages, and a pool table. Add that to the spacious living room with a fold-out couch, dining room with a table for 8, and the large deck with a beautiful hand-made picnic table, and you’ve got the perfect space for your family and friend retreat! At Edelweiss the owners are environmentally conscious. They offer full recycling, use environmentally friendly dish soap, provide recycled paper products, offer a reverse-osmosis filtration system to eliminate the need for bottled water, and landscape minimally with native low-water plants.
If you plan to visit in the summer with children, you might also be interested in enrolling in one of the owner’s fun art classes next door. Jennifer, a TX certified art teacher, offers the best creative summer camps for small, peaceful groups in her creek side studio. Check out her offerings for kids ages 6+ at Agua Fresca Studios.
We are confident that Edelweiss will exceed your expectations. Just read some of the comments from the previous guests. The owners really go out of their way to add those special touches to make your trip complete, such as keeping the kitchen stocked with condiments and basics that you may have forgotten. When their chickens can keep up you’ll even find fresh, organic eggs in the fridge. You won’t want to leave Edelweiss, but you can always come back for another visit!
Pets allowed at $50 per pet and we ask that you leave cash or check for the pet fee with the keys upon checkout. Pets must be declared to the owners in advance, preferably at the time of booking. We ask that if dogs are left unattended at the home that they be crated and that they remain on leash when outside the fenced yard if they might be inclined to chase a cat, chicken or child. Thanks!
Interaction with Guests
This home sits on two private acres and we allow our guests as much privacy as possible. We invite guests to explore our 10 shared acres, though, and are happy to strike up a conversation in passing. We love meeting new people!
Other Things to Note
There is a lovely creek view from the backyard, but the bank is steeper here and access down to the water is not super easy. There are multiple easy creek access points on the shared 10 acres, though. While our creek is a year 'round creek, our extended Texas drought has taken its toll on area springs and water levels can fluctuate during hot, dry spells.
Here are our house rules. We put lots of love and attention into making this space to share with you. Thank you for treating our home with the same care and respect you would expect from visitors in your own home.

We strive to keep a supply of firewood for our guests, but can’t guarantee it. You can find firewood at the Exxon station on RR12, if needed.
*There is a reverse osmosis filtration system on the kitchen sink which provides excellent drinking water. Therefore, there's no need to buy bottled water!

We absolutely loved our stay at Jennifer and Gregory's home. Beautiful property with all of the amenities you need for a wonderful weekend away. Would definitely recommend a stay here and will certainly be back again in the future.
We had a wonderful experience in the cabin, easy to get there, beautiful scene, once at the cabin could not believe my eyes, it was so gorgeous, big, comfortable, all the amenities were there, huge bedroom, very well equipped kitchen, and the back was wonderful, we went a couple of times to the creek, and was breathtaking,
Tv, was an option, but we did not need it, we were just happy to be there, wi-fi , was working great, the weather was wonderful.
Thanks Gregory and Jennifer, we wish we could go back again really soon!
The homeowners were very quick to communicate with us and provide information about the property, which was lovely and clean.
If you are looking for an "upscale" farmhouse, this is how I would describe it. All the creature comforts of home, very comfy beds, plus a pool table!
We had a great experience at Jennifer and Gregory's Beautiful Creekside home! The house was very clean with ample space, and the kitchen was fully equipped, including spices, condiments, and necessities. The cable did not work, but we had plenty to do, including enjoying the wonderful outdoor space and the creek. We had a great time in the game room, with the pool table and board games. Also worth noting: the house was very close to Wimberely, close enough for a quick day trip.
We're glad you had a great time, Jameelah! So sorry about the satellite tv. Our last guests said they had trouble, but then it worked for us until your check-in day so we initially didn't think anything was wrong. We couldn't fix it over the phone with Dish, so we have a technician coming out tomorrow, but we're so sorry it was out during your stay.
The hosts were incredibly warm and generous. The house is beautiful and shows the hosts' love of it and their other properties on the land. The property is amazing and there were lots of outdoor games for the kids to use - badminton, volleyball, horseshoes, and, in the game room, our kids' personal favorite, a pool table. The house was lovely, clean and spacious. All the beds were comfortable. We had two complaints. In spite of Gregory's valiant efforts, the satellite TV never worked. Fortunately, we had plenty of other ways to amuse ourselves, but unless it works, we did not feel it should have been advertised as having TV reception. The second and more troublesome issue was the well water that fed the sinks and bathrooms. The sulfur smell was overwhelming. After a shower, we felt dirty because we smelled of rotten eggs for a bit. The reverse osmosis faucet in the kitchen provided wonderful drinking water, but the regular water never ran unsmelly, in spite of the hosts' comment that it only happened when the house had not been used for a while. We followed other guests occupying the house, and we ran the water for two days and it never cleared up. Mostly the issue was the smell in the air. We were obviously clean, but I think the hosts should be forthright about the problem.
Marcia, I'm so embarrassed. We are cleaning the house today and discovered a smell that is the result of our putting moth balls in the attic after finding that a squirrel was getting in. With back to back spring break bookings we knew we couldn't put a trap in the attic, and we're loathe to use poisons, so we were excited when we were advised that this was a good option to humanely rid ourselves of the squirrel. It didn't occur to us that the smell would be noticeable inside the house and I apologize profusely! We are working diligently to remedy this situation now. Our well water does have a bit of a sulpher/mineral smell like all the well water in the area, and you'll notice it especially when running the hot water, but it doesn't linger. I'm afraid our squirrel deterrent efforts are to blame for that.
As far as the TV goes, I'm not sure why you had trouble. I'm guessing maybe you didn't turn on the satellite receiver along with the TV or it was switched to the wrong input setting. Gregory said it was working when he left after meeting with you and I just checked it now and it works fine. We would have been happy to come back over to help if we had known you were still having trouble.
We're glad you enjoyed the other aspects of your stay. It seemed like the kids were having a good time when I'd see them from time to time around the property. We really do take pride in our properties and strive to keep them super well maintained. Lesson learned about moth balls and squirrels, though. :(
This home was everything we had anticipated from the description. We were a group of three couples. The house is just right for such a group - the bedrooms are comfortable and the kitchen is beautiful, spacious and well equipped. We had originally planned to do lots of adventuring in the region - and we did take a couple of day trips - but we ended up spending most of our time relaxing together in the comfortable and spacious living room, listening to music and talking and cooking delicious meals together. We did not have very good weather, even for February, so we could sit outside on only a few occasions, but we nevertheless enjoyed the views through the ample windows. Jennifer and Gregory are great hosts, we had a grand time, and we would unhesitatingly recommend this Creekside Country Home to anyone.
Jennifer and Gergory's space was unbelievable. After looking through the pictures on the website I was very impressed with the property. Once I arrived, I was shocked at how little justice the photos do it. There was ample space for our 10 guests and then some, as well as a number of cozy common areas and a kitchen that made cooking for 10 a complete breeze. The surrounding area was beautiful to stroll around in. I would definitely stay here again in an instant.
