Nestled in a forest of Mountain Hemlocks hundreds of years old, the home is located in a quiet neighborhood only a 5-6 minute walk from the Glen Alps/Flattop Trailhead providing the most direct and easy access to Chugach State Park.

There are endless possibilities for hiking, climbing, and skiing from the house. Or, if you prefer to sit and relax and read a book, the view from the deck or living room couch of the Anchorage skyline and Denali/Mt. McKinley is spectacular.

The space
Please note that approximately 15% of the advertised nightly rate is retained by Airbnb as its platform service fee. The host receives the advertised rate minus this commission.

The Hemlock Mountain House rental is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath property that sleeps 6 people (max!), located in a dynamic and stunning corner of the Chugach Mountains in the hills outside Anchorage. Fully equipped kitchen with all the expected amenities. A 5 minute walk to the Glen Alps/Flattop Trailhead and you're on your way into the wilderness!

The house has been fully renovated, inside and out! We acquired this property in 2019 and immediately began an inside-out total renovation to bring it up to the most modern standards, with high end finishes and all new interior and exterior surfaces. We have traveled the world staying at vacation rental properties and took extensive notes of all the best things we found and brought them here under one roof.

Guest access
The entire house is available and you are free to wander the property around the house. We'll provide a map showing where the property lines are so you don't accidentally walk into a neighbors yard. It's wild tundra and hemlock forest so there are no clear boundaries!

Other things to note
One of us is often available and nearby if you need anything. If we are out of town or out of cell range, we will provide you with friend's and neighbor's information who can help if something comes up. Maximum occupancy of 6! No exceptions.. no parties, groups, events, etc.

Neighborhood highlights

The photos here really show the beauty of this area and are just a sneak peak of the house and the surrounding landscapes. Bears, wolves, moose, coyotes, lynx, hare, wolverines, porcupines, ptarmigan, and eagles are all routine visitors. We have seen all of these animals on the property! The clouds, light, and weather are also very dramatic and you will really experience what it’s like living in the mountains of Alaska. Note that this may include periods of inclement weather! It's rarely bad for prolonged periods of time, but there may be days where the house is in the clouds and visibility is low, or winter storms may make spending time outside difficult. We love these days and hope you will too! A great time to read a book on the couch or sit in the sauna.
