1930s house in a quiet tree lined street, only moments from the seafront with one of the longest boardwalks on the West coast of Ireland. We are a family of 4 with two teenage boys. Our mission is to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable.
Gleann Oir B&B - Large bedroom with a double and single bed and your own private bathroom in a period 1930s house. The house is 10 mins bus ride or drive to city centre or a 30 mins walk. The walk is along the seafront and is rather scenic and refreshing.
We have wireless internet. The house is a large 7 bed house but we only let out one bedroom to guests. Because we are a large big house, you can have your privacy if that is what you want. The street is a quiet tree lined street with many houses from the turn of the last century. The neighborhood is popular with walkers and you will meet lots of people out walking alone or with their dogs at all hours of the day and night. The most attractive aspect of our house is that we have a sea view but are a few streets away from the main sea front, so we have the view without the traffic. Our street is very quite. I am a mature student at the local university studying digital media. My husband works in insurance. We have two boys aged 14 and 17. In the past, we lived in London for 15 years. When I was single, I lived in New York for 4 years. Mairead
We really enjoyed our stay at Mairead 's lovely house. She made us very welcome. The location is perfect - beautiful sea views and easy proximity to the beach and promenade. In the morning, the sun streamed through the windows and the birds sang! What more could one ask for? Oh yes - a picturesque cat and dog - they were there too! We also liked our soft, white sheets, plump pillows and oh so cosy beds. The bathrooms are spanking new and the power shower was a treat. Our breakfast was healthy and enjoyable. This was a great place to stay!
It was our first experience with Airbnb and couldn't have been any better than this. Right from the moment I booked the place, Mairead was very helpful in planning our stay at Galway. Her house is beautiful and warm. Mairead is very gracious and such a friendly host. She was very considerate and always made something extra for breakfast everyday to accommodate the likes of my 6yr old son. She also drove us to the bus station on our way back. I wish we could go back to Galway sooner and stay with Mairead again.
Mairead's home was as welcoming as it can be. I was happy to stay in her warm home-- a big plus is that you can see the ocean view as you are eating breakfast. :) Her home is close to Salthill village and walking there was just minutes away as well as the bus line to the city centre is very close by. She made the time to sit down and get to know you as a person during breakfast as well she was accommodating of the dietary needs that I had. It made the stay much more comfortable and homey. The room and bathroom was spacious, clean, and decorated nicely. If I had another chance to visit the area, I would not mind staying at her home again. Thank you, Mairead! :)
We were welcomed with warm and friendly hospitality. Very good location, easy to find. all accommodations were excellent. Rooms were clean and roomy and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
Added fun was their wonderful dog Westy.
We had a great time at Mairead's B&B. The listing is accessible to the center city by bus (the 401 I believe). Salthill is a really nice area and the water is less than 5 minutes away. The bedroom itself is really nice. It is spacious and comfortable and having a private bathroom was also great. Mairead was very kind and took time to give us advice on where to go and even dropped us off in the city when we left. She made breakfast for us in the morning which was awesome. I would definitely recommend staying at Mairead's, it is one of the best places I have stayed at so far.
We had such a nice stay with Mairead, her family, dog, and cat. Everyone was very welcoming. For my daughter and I, it was the perfect location - a 20-minute walk from Salt Hill into the center of Galway. Although, in early March is was a windy walk on the way back (good to burn off those extra pints). The house has a perfect layout, with plenty of privacy and a nice, bright breakfast space - with a very nice array of continental style breakfast choices, great jams and bread, and good coffee (very important since I come from Seattle - we're all about coffee there).
Lovely friendly welcome; warm inviting house close to the prom. Highly recommended.

I particularly like house-guests that are self-sufficient but also like sharing experiences.
