Owl in the Oak Treehouse provides our guests with a fully modern experience while maintaining the uniqueness and charm of a real treehouse overlooking a small stream in a quiet valley.

Upgrades in February 2025 include window curtains, an upgraded door lock, solar path lighting, and improved string lighting on the deck.

The space
The treehouse is secluded in the forest behind our suburban home, more than 300 feet from the closest house. In the winter, several neighborhood homes are visible from the treehouse, but summer foliage cloaks the treehouse in almost total privacy.

The main floor of the treehouse is 120 square feet and has a sitting area, bathroom, and kitchenette. There is also a small writing desk that folds out of the way when not in use. The treehouse does not have a television.

The 50-square-foot sleeping loft is accessed via ladder and gives guests some of the best views of the forest and stream.

The kitchenette features a sink, minifridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker.

The small bathroom has a composting toilet and a shower. Towels, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are included.

Outside the treehouse is a sitting area with stunning views out over the forest and down to a small stream 30 feet below!

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire treehouse and platform. There is also a short side path with a bench overlooking the stream.

Guests should not leave the walking paths. The forest floor is a natural area and is not safe for people.

The nearby treehouse belongs to our neighbors and is off-limits to our guests.

Other things to note
Guest parking is on the street in our suburban neighborhood. The two-minute walk to the treehouse takes you down a stone path into the forest, up and down several flights of uneven steps, and across a small footbridge.

Access to the treehouse itself is up a spiral staircase, and it’s necessary to climb a ladder to get to the sleeping loft where the queen bed is located.

Children under the age of 10 are not allowed to access the sleeping loft for safety reasons.

The water heater tank only holds 7 gallons of water, so showers need to be kept short. The toilet in the treehouse is a composting toilet.

This property is a real treehouse, actually suspended in trees. If it happens to be windy during your stay, you will feel the sway and hear some creaking sounds.
